There was always the worst-case scenario and right now it was happening right before their eyes. The moment everyone least expected after the fall of the governor from months ago. Clementine stayed close to Carl with an arm wrapped around his shoulder, and the other holding onto the fencing as they watched Rick slowly make his way to confront them. They had Hershel and Michonne as hostages to avoid any bloodshed, it least that was there intentions at first. Clementine looked behind to see Daryl talking to the others, whispering making some sort of back up plan. Clementine looked back biting her tongue watching Rick grow more distant as he approached the governor. They had worked to hard to lose everything. They had made a home of this place, had shelter, had clean water, had gardens for food, they had formed a little community with all the amenities they needed. A lot of people had died from being sick but they overcame it, there was still a good portion of people left. To lose all of that now…..

All of them watched in anticipation, they couldn’t hear or really see what was going on. What they didn’t realize is Rick had no chance of neagioating but was going to try, he was going to make a choice that was going to hurt them all. Rick had morals and sometimes they got in the way of even the most rational decisions, always thinking there was always a little good in everybody. Maggie was holding onto Beth’s hand, Clementine gaze down at Carl who didn’t look concerned, just serious. That was when she felt Daryl set an AK-47 leaning against her leg. She let her hand fall slowly behind to grasp it as he handed Carl a handgun.

Then to make things a hell of a lot more intense they watched the governor climb down off of a tank and hold a sword to Hershel’s neck. Clementine turned to see both Maggie and Beth cry out in protest holding onto the fences. She breathed out swallowing a mouthful of spit and looked back trying to kill the fear. (Song is cool, thought it would fit the theme.) The others would watch and not have any idea how hard Rick was trying, trying to do the right thing by letting them live together. If they couldn’t learn to live together, they would all die alone. They wouldn’t hear him hear heart-changing words and he desperately reasoned with all of them with welcoming arms.

“We let go of all of it and nobody dies, everyone whose alive right now, everyone’s whose made it this far, we’ve all done the worst kinds of things just to stay alive…but we can still come back, were not too far gone. We get to come back. I know we all can change.”

It was calm; calm before the storm as a hot humid breeze blew past everyone. Then they watched in horror as he sliced off Hershel’s head and it rolled off in the grass as he kicked his body forward. You could hear Maggie and Beth’s sobs as Rick screamed out. Clementine felt her heart skip a beat as tears stung her eyes. Time slowed down as gun fire started. Rick had crawled behind the turned over school bus for protection as they fired and started breaking down the fences with the tanks. Clementine was frozen, she couldn’t move; just watch everything shatter in front of her. Carl firing broke her trance, he moved backwards.

“Clem we gotta go!” He yelled and she didn’t to lose sight of Rick. “We have to help Rick….we can’t leave em.” She argued and Carl pulled her down to avoid being targeted, as they got closer. The others were already running toward the courtyard where the bus was. They ran in a crouched position along the fence line and stopped seeing the tank bust down through the barricade. They had lost sight of Rick.

“He would want us to get to the bus.” Carl snapped in a dominant tone, he didn’t want to lose anyone else and Clementine was like a sister. He sometimes would lie saying she was to his school friends being proud. He needed to find Judith but knew that someone had to of been getting her safely on the bus. Clementine had tears streaming down her cheeks but nodded and they took off running dodging behind things, firing back when they could. They darted across to the other building where they were loading the survivors. She saw Maggie carrying Glenn. They jogged over and Clementine filed behind Carl to climb onto the bus. Just as he climbed in she stepped back breathing out with more hot tears. Carl looked back shaking his head, he bent down to grab her but she jerked away.

“Honey get on the bus…. hurry.” Another woman called out behind Carl and she shook her head. “Keep Carl! I got to help Rick!” She screamed taking off before anyone could grab her. She had to run away from the main entrance as the tank had broke it and had blown everything up. All the noise was attacking the walkers from the woods. Where was Rick she thought as she saw him nowhere in the field? She pressed her back to the brick wall holding the AK-47 to her chest. Another explosion hit shaking the ground; she fell to her knees as debris fell across her. She coughed struggling to pull her body up; her face was now covered in dirt and grime. She screamed ran for it being blind shooting off her gun. She dived behind a vehicle when she saw the bus driving away and breathed out in relief. Walkers were hot in her trail and she pointed her gun and fired taking them both out and kept walking. The prison was in bad shape and not many people were left to finish the battle. She was alone now, she kept firing crying out.

Then she heard his voice, Rick was crying out for Carl and her name. She rounded around the corner and fired killing off more walkers until it was clear. Rick was staggering barely keeping his balance as he cried out her name. She took off jogging and lowered her weapon. He was wheezing and looked on the verge of passing out. He had blood everywhere, especially on his face. The governor had nearly killed him. She ran and they embraced each other, she nearly almost fell over from his weight but held onto him sobbing out. She felt his sweat, blood and tears as he coughed out, he could barely breathe. She pulled him close trying not to what little sanity she had.
