Somewhere in hell...
He stood at the edge of the valley, his deep blue eyes looking over at the opposing army. He knew that all out war right now would cause too much death, and the barren valley would provide no cover. His bright white fur shone in the sunlight, light reflecting off his glasses as he looked out,"Hmmm... not... the smartest place to allow them to choose... but, I guess there's a reason for it..." He said, looking at his second in command. Everyone was on edge, and for good reason. He knew that the war was not beneficial to either side, and he was trying to come up with a solution that everyone could agree with. But... the felines were... uncooperative to say the least. He nodded softly to his second, slowly moving out towards the middle of the valley, waiting on the other guest.

To say that the nekos were uncooperative was an understatement. The two clans had been bitter with each other since their first encounters. They had been fighting mainly over territory, with the inus holding a little more than the nekos, though it was fairly even. Each side had their advantages in combat. The inu were naturally bigger and stronger, with the nekos having lots of stamina and agility. One of them stepped forward in front of the rest. She was one of the higher-ups in this clan, her coal black fur shining brilliantly in the light. In her hand was a tribal-looking axe. She crossed her arms over her chest as she looked on to see the opposing side ahead. "Hmph, we're not going to settle for negotiations. We're here to get rid of them all." At her side was her second in command, another young female. She moved up in the middle of the field, grinning to the two across from them. "Well now, I can offer our last motion of pity if you just get up and leave. It'll save us the trouble of beating you senseless."

He couldn't help but chuckle at the threat,"Now now... there's got to be some... civil way of finishing this..." he said as he pushed his glasses up a bit,"We've tried to compromise on numerous occasions, even offering to not tread into your territory, but no... you seem to want more..." He said as he stood tall, letting his form seem a bit more imposing than he actually was, but in truth he was very imposing as it is, you didn't get to be commander for being smart,"Now please... just consider it... we won't back down, and neither will you, there will be many losses on both sides if this war continues..." he said, looking down at her a bit,"I don't wish to send any more young pups into battle just to see them die..."

"A civil means you say?? she said with an intrigues glance. At the same time she seemed to be mocking him. "Yes, I'm well aware of your previous attempts to make amends. It's funny you would bring that up. You did agree not to run about in our territory, while just the other day we had picked up some trespasser deep in our territory. I'm sure they would have heard your little suggestion, unless they were stupid, acting on their own. Of course, both of us are guilty of trespassing." she let out a little sigh at his last few comments. "What more do you have for me to consider? As much as I wish to stop this mindless engagement, I haven't seen much effort from you to appease me." She returned the look up at him. He did tower over her a bit, but she was undeterred. "If you really aren't looking to send your young ones in battle, then don't. It is simple. We have never considered such a practice." Because of it, they always seemed to have less of their people in a quarrel. However, it was more than enough to give them a hard time.

He sighed softly as he shook his head,"You're being irrational here... the point is, we've offered every reasonable thing we could think of... territory, riches, even to share some of our territory... but you seem to want more than we can offer." he said, looking at her,"You know you can't win against us... we have power and numbers. Pains me as it is to see more pups die, I won't hesitate to use them to exterminate your kind..." He said, his eyes looking into hers,"You know you can't win. But you fight anyways..." he said as he turned a bit,"SO I'll give you an ultimatum, either surrender by next sundown... or stare down my army with no hope for mercy..." He said as he started to walk away.

(One last response.)

A little grin came to her face as he spoke. "Can't win hmm? you'd like to that that now wouldn't you?" While he had reason to believe it, the nekos weren't easy to convince with simple reasoning like that. Along with their leader's drive for battle, her clan was easily influenced. For the most part, he was right. In many little scuffles, their groups easily dealt with the nekos. On many rare occasions though, the nekos had managed to come out on top. "Hmm, then I shall offer my own ultimatum. Actually it's more of a forewarning. Unless you can actually succeed in eliminating us, you'll have no chance of victory. Then again, we won't have to worry about that. Hope you're ready...I'll be coming for you myself. You won't look the same way you do now." She grinned as she spun on her heel to turn as well, walking away with a little skip in her step. Her subordinate followed closely behind.

He sighed, hearing her, he knew this wasn't going to end well. He moved back to his camp, knowing they'd have to get ready for war. He didnt' like planning it, but he knew he'd need to use all of his intelligence to keep his men from certain death. He stayed up all night, planning and constructing different scenarios as to how the battle would pan out, but each one didn't end favorably, for either group. He sighed,"It must be done..." he said softly,"A surprise attack is the only option..." He said, sending his generals to give the command, at daybreak, they attack.

The neko leader soon returned along with her subordinate. The neko clan also did not have much when it came to tactics. For the most part, it was run in and destroy. Knowing the opposition, that wouldn't be the best choice. There would need to be strategy involved. It would be different, but it could be done. One advantage they could have was there ability for tool-making. Their weapons were constructed from ordinary material around them, but proved to be very durable and effective. "We must figure something out. They can easily overpower us if we are too reckless." Seeing as they would be in open field, guerrilla tactics weren't going to be of much help. Their leader grinned. "Well, we have until next sundown to plan something. But they are sure to be more prepared than us by then. We need to come up with something quick and get ready sooner."

He knew it was going to be hard the next day, getting across the valley without them noticing would be impossible, so they had to get across the valley as quickly as possible. He sighed, looking up at the sky,"Nightfall... we have to get the army moving before sunrise..." He said, looking at his second,"That's the best chance we'll have at beating them." He closed his eyes softly, opening them as the moon began to rise. He was outside now, looking at his troops,"We only have one shot at this... and as loathsome as it is to fight like this... it's the only chance...." He said softly. He turned to his second,"Order the attack..." He said, watching as his troops began to move out.

While the rest of the neko tribe was planning stuff in their area, their leader had gone out for a little while. This conflict had been going on for a while, but both of their choices had led to this. Despite her desire for a fight, she had hoped for something else. She knew that the fight would be especially difficult for them under any circumstances. Still, she was determined to overcome. Her subordinate came up behind her to join her. "It's gonna be rough tomorrow." she muttered. She simply let out a little sigh as she looked on. "I guess, but we can't do anything about it now." She paused, signaling for her subordinate to be silent as well. "You smell that?" Her subordinate hadn't exactly picked up anything strange. The leader grabbed her arm roughly. "Get them ready. We don't have much time to prepare." She was sent off quickly, while her superior stay to look on. She wanted to see them coming by with her own eyes.

He had already sent in a scout team to do recon as the main force marched on. They had the element of surprise, and nothing was going to stop them. Within what seemed like moments they were at the neko's camp, and he could already hear fighting,"Damn... I wish it hadn't come to this..." he said, looking out over the battle. It was dark, but he could hear the sounds and it was hard. He closed his eyes softly, his hands moving and pulling out his swords,"Onward... into battle..." he whispered, it was his own personal montra.

After what seemed like an eternity he lay against a near wall, panting softly, his arm over his side as blood flowed freely from the wound. He had been careless, he should've been watching his back. He sighed softly as he looked at the wound, his clothes stained with blood as he looked at it,"Damn... damn damn damn..." he said, putting pressure back on it. He knew he wasn't going to make it unless he found help, but he didn't know if he was close to anyone. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back, the smell of smoke filling his nose, blocking him from knowing if anyone was around.

"Shit...I knew it." The neko had covered her arm over her face, not wanting to inhale any of the smoke that filled the air. That wasn't necessarily easy though. As she continued forward, a couple of the inus had come at her recklessly. She easily saw through it, taking them out alone. Her ears twitched slightly as she picked something up nearby. Someone was around her, but not moving. She quickly moved to the source, rather surprised at who she had run into. there was the inu leader, grasping his arm in pain. She could easily be rid of him in this situation. Of course, getting rid of him could guarantee their victory here. However, the idea of killing him while he was like this bugged her. The idea of not killing him and losing this war bugged her even more. "Tch. Looks like you've been banged up quite a bit huh?"

When he heard someone talking he looked towards them,"Heh... I suppose so..." he said to her, cradling his arm still,"Looks like you get to be the one to finish me..." he said as he slowly made his way to his feet, holding his sword in his left hand,"But I gotta tell you, I won't make it easy on you..." he said with a wince, blood trickling down his arm. He knew in this state he wouldn't stand a chance, and his plans had already failed, so he figured he might as well try and take out his rival. He took a deep breath, moving and rushing at her, his eyes waivering as he fell, blood loss finally getting to him as he blacked out, hitting the ground a few feet infront of her.

She watched him as he rose to his feet, clearly in no position to fight. Of course, she had to admire his will to fight until he had breathed his last. She wasn't one for weapons, even though a good deal of her tribe used them. Maybe in the state he was in, she wouldn't need one anyway. she prepared herself as he charged for her, but he didn't get very far. She watched him as he fell, knowing he had blacked out. Of course, this would have been the ideal time to finish him off. However, the idea of killing him under these circumstances would leave a bad taste in her mouth. She sighed softly as she rushed over, dragging him away a bit from the fighting. His wounds were bad, and he had lost a lot of blood already. She had managed to wrap up most of the wounds, enough to stop the bleeding at least. She looked back to the battlefield. "What now...?"

He was panting softly, the blood loss getting to him. He knew he was done for, he was in the hands of his biggest rival. He rarely dreamed, and when he did he usually decided not to tell anyone about it. He didn't like to admit it, but he'd always sort of had a crush on her. He felt her to be worthy of her title as leader, she was smart, and strong, and more intelligent than any of the others. Of course, he would never tell anyone about it. He began to breath a bit easier now, as if he was ready to just go. He wished he'd been able to do some things while he could, but he didn't regret anything in his life.

She turned to see that he was starting to come to. He was sure to be surprised at the circumstances, considering their clans were still going at each other. She hadn't killed him like she had planned to, almost unsure of why she did. In all reality, she had some respect for him, maybe even more than that. "Finally come to huh? About time." she muttered. She stayed in front of him, looking around to see if anyone would notice them.

He opened his eyes softly, looking up at her,"Ug..." he said softly, blinking a few times to try and get his vision cleared. He couldn't figure out who it was talking to him, his mind going through every possibility of who it might be. He was still very woozy,"Where.... where...?" he said softly as he closed his eyes, feeling the ground beneath him he figured he was still on the battlefield,"H-have to... safe... get... safe..." he said as he tried to get up, not being able to make much progress at all.

She sighed softly, seeing how he was still trying to get away in his condition. She thought he would have figured out already that she wasn't going to kill him, since she would have done that earlier when she had the chance. "Hey! It's best you don't move so much with your injuries. I dragged you over here so you wouldn't be picked off by one of our members. I doubt anyone's going to find you here anyway."

He took a deep breath, looking at her now and seeing right,"What...? What are you.... why are you...?" He said, taking a deep breath and panting gently, blood loss already taking hold of him. He moved back a bit, a bit afraid,"Why haven't you killed me yet...? Saving me for torture...?" He said as he let his hand search around a bit, trying to find a weapon or something to try and protect himself, not knowing what else he should do.

She grumbled slightly at his words. did he really think she would do something as low as that? "What's with the way you're acting huh? You're not going to find any weapon around here, and I doubt in your condition you'd be able to defend yourself efficiently. I already told you, I dragged you over here. If you haven't noticed, I've covered your wounds already. Be thankful. And if you really want to know, it didn't feel right to kill you under these circumstances."

He kept his back to a wall as he looked at her,"Why didn't you kill me...?" He said softly, looking at her. he didn't understand it at all, she was his rival, she should have killed him. He was still a bit woozy from blood loss, his mind still dim. He couldn't understand anything, everything she was doing was against everything he'd ever known about her. He let a hand move over his arm, blood still dripping a bit.

"Gah..do I have to repeat myself all the time? Look, it wouldn't feel that good knowing I killed you when you were in such bad condition. I would have liked you better if you weren't all beat up already. I'd expect a fair fight between us." She turned away from him, looking out once more. There wasn't anyone nearby.

He looked up at her,"I... I don't get it..." he said, his mind unclear a because of the blood loss. He closed his eyes and fell back a bit, passing out again. He needed medical attention soon, or he wasn't going to make it no matter what her wishes. He was breathing quietly, his mind going through all the different possibilities as to what she would end up doing to him before he died.

She let out a little sigh at his words. Hadn't she explained it enough? Perhaps all that blood loos was affecting him or something. She saw that he had passed out, though he would need some medical attention to those wounds. It wasn't likely she'd find the best ones out right now on the battlefield. Some of the plants in the area however were known for remedies. She nabbed a couple of them, crumpling them up in her hand. This wasn't known among the wolves, but the nekos had found the healing capabilities of these plants. She had opened his mouth, feeding them to him. with the oil they produced, she had begun to rub them on his wounds.

After a few moments he slowly started to wake back up, seeing her he sighed softly,"What are you going to do with me...?" he said, slowly moving and sitting up as best he could. He had to think of this logically, she had him at a huge disadvantage, and if he wanted to get out of it alive, he would have to keep his mind clear,"I mean... are you going to kill me, or keep me prisoner...?" he said as he looked up at her. He'd heard what happened to prisoners in neko camps, and he wasn't looking forward to being a slave.
