Jenna was lying on her bed with her hair hanging off the edge as her legs were propped up. She was staring up at the ceiling with beady zombified eyes. The young seventeen year old didn’t look in the best shape. She had a bandage above her right eye where she had to have a gash stitched shut. She had a black eye and a busted lip, scrapes and cuts were scabbed over and her left arm was bandaged and in a tight sling. She was dressed comfortably in yoga pants and a long sleeve shirt pulled over a tank.
It had only been a few weeks ago when her life had traumatically changed for the worse. She was in a car accident that had killed both her mother and father leaving her in the custody of her older brother. They had been going out to dinner to celebrate her mother’s promotion and Jenna graduating high school and on the way home a drunk driver served into the wrong lane. Jenna’s father tried to avoid him and ended up driving off the edge of a cliff and the car tumbled and fell to a lower back road. Jenna was lucky she survived with only a broken arm and few other minor injuries. She had blacked out before the emergency squad got there to pull her body from the wreckage. She was taken to the closest hospital, the same hospital her father and brother worked at. Her brother was notified and rushed down to find his sister in a-coma. Then he was informed both of his parents were dead at the sight of the crash.
Jenna ended up moving in with Jack and his fiancée Sarah. They were engaged and planning to get married within the next month but with the current situation decided to post pone the wedding until fall. So now Jenna had her own room on the lower level of Jack’s two-story beach town house. They had converted a guest room into her bedroom, also giving her the bathroom downstairs that was right beside it. She didn’t want to move in with her brother but she was still underage and would be for a whole year and even then he still had the rights over her inheritance. It was in their parents will that he be her legal guardian and handle her fiancés until she was it least 21 years of age. She couldn’t put of much of a fight, as he demanded she be under his supervision and live with him. He was nursing her back to complete health.
But things weren’t exactly settled yet, the funeral was over with and everything else was slowly being handled such as moving her belongings, packing what was in their parents house and getting ready to sell it, but there was a lot of tension between everyone, especially Jack and Sarah. Sarah was more than welcoming of Jenna and had gone out of her way to make her comfortable but she was barely there. She was an event coordinator and traveled a lot. She was there for the funeral and a few days after but then left again. Her excuse was that Jack was still doing part time shifts at the hospital. So it wasn’t exactly always pleasant at the house.
