It had been years since they fled the castle. The servants, guards and werewolves that all swore to protect the throne. They had fled to care for the pronounced heir to the throne, Crescent. Before her passing, Queen Ambrosia Dalea of Nievae pronounced Crescent, her adopted daughter, to be the next heir to the throne. It was a slap in the face to her daughter, Princess Ryia (temp name unless we have a better one), who shared her blood. Although, it was well known that she was a spoiled, angry child, she was the last of her bloodline aside from possible distant aunt and uncles in other areas of the world.
The ensuing years after, news spread that Crescent would be the next Queen when she came of age. The news eventually spread to the ears of Princess Ryia and of course anger and jealousy were one of the two only emotions that filled her heart. Regardless of her mother's words, she believed she was the true heir to the throne and thus she made threats and attempts at her adopted sister's life. Tensions rose and the safety of Crescent was in jeopardy, so the decision was made to move her out of the castle until she came of age.
Felix, an ambitious werewolf within the Pine Pack, never liked the idea of leaving the castle. Plenty of times he has conversations with the pack leader, Alpha Greyson, that they should return to the castle if Crescent was the true heir to the throne. His response was always that they had the wait until she came of age, otherwise, it would be dangerous. His replies always enraged him. While they were toiling away in a forest, the Princess was acting as the Queen in her luxurious castle.
Finally, a week came before Crescent's birthday where she would become of age to take the throne. They would finally make their move to the castle. During a pre-celebratory party, Felix confronted Greyson one last time. Only this time, Greyson's response was that they needed to wait a little longer. "Enough waiting! If she is the true heir as you say she is, then we should storm the castle now! We're tired of living out here like wild animals! What proof do you even have besides your word that she is the heir?!" At that point, werewolves that Felix had been persuading to take his side joined up with him. It was a fight that broke out between Felix and Greyson after Greyson had told him to stand down and know his place in the pack. Greyson had managed to scratch him over his left eye and stop the fight.
Angered by this, Felix and his gang decided to flee the scene, headed for the castle to join who they believed was the true heir to the throne, Queen Ryia.
