"Your the best, Hannah!" The young woman happily chirped, as she kissed the older ladies cheek. The old lady chuckled lightly, and waved her hand a single time.
"How could I not help such a couple of nice young girls, such as you two. Now go on. It'll stay warm for a while, but not forever." The old woman hurried Africa along, who nodded in agreement, before grabbing the large plate, with several kinds of foodstuffs on. It was all covered in a layer of tin foil, to keep the warm food warm, when the plan was set in motion.
"We'll pay you back for this, I promise. You've done us a biiig favor today.. Thanks!" Africa thanked the older lady, before hurrying out of the small apartment's front door. If her girlfriend could see her now, she'd be amazed, Africa thought to herself. Last time she'd worn heels for her lover, she'd been a bit clumsy, tripping here and there. But the last few weeks, Africa had been taking an hour or so, today, wearing heels and getting better at it. Africa had never owned a pair of heels, before she'd met her lover. And even in the time she'd known her lover, she hadn't really worn them much. They made it a little harder to run, which wasn't a good thing in Africa's.. Profession. But now she'd learnt, that her lover really liked heels, and what they did to her stature. And now, she could almost run in the pair of red high heels, that matched the beautiful long red dress, with an elegant cut down the side of her right leg. It lift her chest up, making her look quite the upstanding lady. While that might be quite far from the truth, Africa did feel quite good, looking like this. Made her feel.. Like a 'Lady'. And not just a street rat.
Getting on to the street, her bright brown eyes gazed back and forth own the small corner street, of Langston Avenue, making sure no one saw her when she ran across the street from old Hannah's apartment, and up a set of outside stairs, that was usually locked off from public. She closed the door behind her, making it look like it was still locked off, before hastily heading up the stairway, reaching all the way to the rooftop.
At first glance, reaching the top, one would think it was on fire. But the hundreds of elegant candles, did nothing dangerous to the building itself, and created a soothing atmosphere, on the already romantic evening. Africa smiled happily at her work, before heading over to the small table in the middle of a large circle of candles, placing the plate down. She'd spent a long time on this. Saving money from each work her lover created, getting just enough to buy a good wine, a heck of a lot of candles and two lovely dress' for them.
After placing the plate own, she took her phone out from her bag on the table, immediately starting a text to her lover:
"Sweety? You can take a break. I've found a buyer for your new piece, and he won't be here to get it, for another couple of days. Come take a break with me! Remember the building, right across Langston Avenue, from old H's house? I finally figured out the lock! Sunset'll be beautiful from this spot! Bring your canvas, creativity and pretty bum up here! Pretty please?
Uh, and I almost forgot. There's a little present for you, under the bed. In the little box? Put a little cash aside for it. Thought you might like it.
See you, sweety! <3"
While writing, she gently nibbled on her lower lip, thinking about the dress she'd bought. About a year ago, the two had been taking a casual stroll down the street, and they'd ended up gawking at fancy dress', that they'd never afford. They weren't exactly the most expensive kind, but it was expensive dress' for middle class. And they'd never been that wealthy. But Africa had taken a mental note, to her lovers reaction on one of the dress'. Which she'd now bought. With a pair of heels to match. She'd done so much for this evening, and now she found herself nervous. What if she wouldn't come? What if she'd got locked up in her own burning, passionate creativity, unable to let go of her painting? She stepped a little where she stood, before distracting herself by preparing things. Everything had to be perfect! Before she'd set up the wall of candles, she'd cleaned the dirty floor of the rooftop, leading all it's dust and sand into a corner. It was redundant work, but it made it a little better. She'd set up the candles, in an almost perfect half circle, on the side of the small table and chairs. It was a cheap, simple set of chairs, and the table was a simple lawn table, to easily set up. But on the table, was a rather fine wine, especially considering what the two could usually afford, and now also a great dinner, cooked up by the talented hands of old lady Hannah. Africa took each plate and bowl off the larger plate, placing them neatly on the table, ultimately getting a neat setup. Dinner was a good salad, with a pair of soft, white chicken fillet's and thick juicy steaks. The two different meats, was a suggestion from Hannah. 'You never know, what you want in the moment.' So there where two meats, and two different types of sauce, to match the different meats. And then to finalize it, three different preparations of potato. Chips, baked and oiled halves with sprinkles of thyme. And everything looked good. She kept the tin foil over the bowls, while waiting for her lover, taking a seat on one of the chairs. She impatiently clicked her heels against the ground repeatedly, with her hands folded in her lap. Her brown hair was just a little different then usual. Some hair products, had lifted it a bit on the right side, making it more lively, with the left flowing down in it's usual curls, reaching to just above her shoulders. She'd even put on a light red lip gloss, giving her lips a little more color. Nothing more then that, though. She wasn't good with make-up, and always hated having things come close to her eyes. Her ears where pierced, the usual rings sat in three places along the top of her ear, just slightly showing because of the hairstyle.
The second she heard the gate bellow the building open, she got off the chair, and hastily removed all of the tin foil. She ground it up to a ball, and quickly tossed it over the far edge of the building, before quickly looking back to the stairs, moving behind the chair she stood next to. If her lover had been running up the stairs, she would've just barely seen Africa toss the foil away, before stepping aside to let her see the table setting. Africa smiled happily, holding out a hand for her lover.
"Hey, sweet-cheeks. I said a 'little aside', didn't I? Maybe.. It was a bit more then that."
