Toledo Oregon was a small Lumber town , Caught between the costal 101 highway and the massive I-5 Interstate. It was a beautiful place to live, had plenty of mountains, forests, several falls and lakes. Small town Pacific Northwest. It was also a town of mystery and wonder. Supernatural creatures unique to the the town were abound. Everyone played it off as nothing was going on, but everyone had secrets. Least of which the Middle aged man that ran the local tourist trap, the Mystery Shack. He was a classic confidence man , he was good at what he did. He could tell you he was a confidence man, and conning you and you would still give him your money.
He had been living in the area most of his life, and constantly claimed to his family that he did not believe in the supernatural at all. But in reality he knew more about the town and its secrets than any one else. He lived in the Shack, witch was a Museum of the odd, not one thing on display was real, nor resembled any of the supernatural creatures, or divices , or materials that were abound in the town. People enjoyed being conned, enjoyed the fun, he learned long ago that anything that was obviously really outside the realm of science was too much for his customers to understand.
The Shack obviously was off the State Hwy 20, and not in the town itself, Easy to get to and out of from the highway, Signs advertising the Mystery shack were all up and down Oregon Washington and northern california, trying to sucker rubes in. He did much better than he appeared. He intentionally kept his attire cheesy, the attractions cheesy, and the shack more than a little ran down. It lended itself to the Camp of the situation.
He built and made most of the exhibits himself, ordered nicknacks and souvenirs from china, and sold bumper stickers for barely a 100% markup to provide himself with better than free advertising. He even had conned several Bus companies into making the shack a stop, and a long one at that. He also owned the Diner next door , but had little to do with its day to day operation.
The Shack had two employees, Wendy, a tom boyish northwest girl. Her Father was a Lumberjack, her grand fathers were lumber jacks, her great grandfathers were lumberjacks. Red Hair, Freckles, Fair skin, small perky tits but fantastic ass, Tall and lanky, Sarcastic as all fuck but also sweet. She appreciated Stan and his con man ways, she wanted to learn from the master, and worked taking admission prices, and selling things in the gift shop, but was learning Magic (not real) from stan. She had seen her fair share of strange stuff in the town, but like most people tried to ignore it in fear of being considered crazy. The 16 year old hoped to learn all she could from stan before leaving the town to practice the con game.
There was also Zeus the handy man and Janitor of the Shack, a nerdy small town guy, still out dorsey and fit, in his mid twenties. He was an odd man with plenty of skills, and knew more about what was really going on in the town than would appear at first glance.
Than comes Ash. A long time ago Stans Twin brother worked with him as a confidence man at the shack, but nearing his thirties fell in love , and no longer cared about the shack, the town or its mysteries. He was a master prop builder though like his brother, and moved to california to start his family. They only had a single daughter, Ash. Recently Ash has been hating LA , and her father understands why. Though at first she might not look it, she is a girl that loves mystery, and the great outdoors. Even knowing the Dangers, and oddities of the town, he sends her to Toledo to spend at least the summer with her uncle. At first she didnt like the idea of spending the summer away from her friends, but upon seeing where she would be living for the summer, she fell in love with it quickly. The girl always had a little bit of a gothing ]macabre side. Her first day , having taken over the Attic of the shack, making it into her room , she went for a long walk in the woods.
