It was a ten day trip to the altar, a place far up in the mountains, closest to the gods. Arkath had a very specific reason for making this journey instead of simply preying at the city altars. It wasn’t a pilgrimage, but a sacred journey to seek out the Goddess’s favor, the Goddess of Arcane magic. For a great journey was about to be begun by Arkath, and something told him that he would not have a chance of survival without the Goddess’ divine blessing.
The city’s Guardian Angel had been kidnapped, stolen by the Demon Rafiq. Arkath saw the demon himself, tried to fight it off but was quickly overcome with the beast’s strength, and the angel stolen away. And now he was on a path of both rescue and redemption, Save the Angel, Protect the City and Defeat the Demon. His honor was at stake.
He found his way to the altar, kneeling down and lowering his head in a prayer. “Dear Goddess of the Arcane, bestow upon me your blessing so I may go forth and protect the village, save the guardian in your name.”
----------
It was in Hell that Rafiq stood, gloating over the Angel he had captured. “Oh, you will make a fine pet and toy, my dear.” He laughed, lifting the cage over lava, watching what the heat did to the woman, before kicking it to rock it, watching the Angel stumble around at that. “Stupid creature. Getting yourself caught so easily. One would think you were a muse of pottery with your skill!”
The Demon guffawed as he turned away from the cage, looking over the armor and weapon of the Angel that it confiscated, then going over the tools at its disposal, Binding equipment, sharp blades, and tools that didn’t seem pleasant although their exact use would be foreign to non-demons. “You are going to be a fun one…”
