Jason had been sailing all day, well, all week actually, and the week before that. Several weeks Jason had been sailing down to the southernmost point of the United States all the way from Connecticut. His buddy Carter had tagged along part of the way, helping him sail, as Carter was also his teammate on the sailing team back at the university.
It was June and they were enjoying their vacation. Jason had chosen to take a break from life and relax and focus on his second favorite pastime. Carter on the other hand chose to spend it with his girlfriend on Daytona beach and a few other friends. Jason wasn't about that life...well, at least not for this summer. If he got lonely, he could head for town and hook up with fine lady. He had everything worked out for a fine vacation. All he had to do was focus on enjoying himself. After dropping off Carter and spending the night in Daytona, Jason cruised down coastal Florida on engine power, taking it easy.
When he finally arrived at his island is was nearly four in the afternoon. He cut the engine, pulled up expertly to the dock, and tied off. Jason gathered his things. Generally he traveled light, with a single duffel, a cooler, and his guitar case. With the duffel on his back and the cooler's strap slung across his shoulder--no need to waste good beer--he strolled up to the house, practically salivating.
"Damn...that water..." He slowed as he trudged around the pool deck, gazing into the crystal water. He dropped off the cooler on a lounge chair and began to circle the house. At the side of the house he discovered a spa jacuzzi leading right out to a stretch of open beach. He followed the deck up to the house and slid the door aside, a series of glass panes that could either form a wall or one large entrance straight out to the jacuzzi.
"Bedroom to the hot tub? Convenient." He swung his duffle off onto the King-sized white canopy bed. Jason relaxed his shoulders and gazed around the room. The woodwork, the furniture, the view even the ceiling! "Amazing..." He kicked off his Michael Toschi deck shoes, he always went all out for his baby, he couldn't afford any scuffs on his vessel.
Jason collapsed into bed. He was spent. He'd rest here, take a little cat nap until it got a little darker outside. Then he'd scrounge something up for dinner and take a dip in the pool to cool off. After the last couple of weeks in the sun, his skin was a delicious carmel, sun-kissed tone, freckles darkened across his shoulders. It was time to rest out of the sun for a while. Then he'd explore the rest of the house and the island.
