Dante received his acceptance letter to the University of Merlin Magics this morning. He read the whole thing 5 or 6 times before it finally sunk in. He had heard that UMM was like Harvard or Princeton but for spell-casters like him. His test results must have been phenomenal to be accepted there. If it were any other wizard college, Dante might have turned them down. He had planned to continue going to mortal colleges with his best friend like he had always done. He had been friends with the girl for years and years. But she couldn't come with him to UMM...she's a mortal.
Dante sat on his bed and tried to think of how he could sneak her into college with him. Maybe not as a student, but maybe on campus to live with him in the dorms. But would she even want to come with him? Her life would have to change drastically...and Dante hadn't even told her he was a wizard yet. Depression started to settle in. She probably wouldn't react well to him keeping such a big secret from her. She might even think he had gone insane. In her world, magic wasn't real.
Dante stood up from his bed; his mind made up. He would tell her he was a wizard. He would tell her that he had been accepted to a prestigious wizard college, and that he would have to leave her behind. He slipped his cellphone out of his pocket and texted her to meet with him in their special place. It wasn't exactly a hiding place. Anyone could get there, but no one ever did. It was a clearing that was surrounded by trees. From the outside, it looked like a thick patch of woods, but no one else knew about the clearing at the center. He and his friend would go there so they could be alone and study together. The place had sentimental value to the both of them, so he figured it would be the perfect place to tell her his secret. Hopefully she would take the news better than he imagined she would.
