Prophecy (Breath x Razi)

My last breath

Guest
Madeleine D'aramitz transplanted here only a few months ago. Leaving a very nice job that could have been a career on a whim. She still couldn't tell you why she just up and left her home town, to come work at a bar as a cocktail waitress. It was just a feeling she had gotten one day, after two months of trying to push it aside, she just couldn't fight it anymore. Loading up her small sedan she drove hundreds of miles until she got to the town of Haven. She just felt like this was the place to stop. With what she had in savings she got herself an apartment, and settled in.

Now seven months later Maddy was walking out the main entrance of her apartment building, heading to her shift at Rocky's Watering Hold. Despite the name, it was a moderately popular. Live bands almost every night, and a DJ for the nights they didn't. The clientele was mixed, ranging from age 21 to 80. She found she had loved this job, the people made her happy.

Tonight she was wearing the usual company colors, purple and black. The skirt she wore came just above the knee in a pencil style cut, and the top she wore had a low cut neckline in a deep purple. The heels she wore made her legs look longer, as was the purpose of them. She slid into the driver seat of a small chevy and turned the keep in the ignition. The bar was only about a ten minutes drive from her apartment, but she really didn't like walking home alone after bar closing. They had an employee parking area directly behind the building, there was even an employee entrance.

The sun was almost set when she pulled into her normal parking spot. The sky was streaked with oranges and pinks, when she turned the car off. This was her favorite time of the day, the time when the creatures of the night would cross paths with those from the day. It was at this time that everything was awake at the same time. Closing the car door, she activated the alarm system before heading for the back door.

RE: Prophecy

The sun was setting, and the youngest of the brothers was already out on the prowl, this time on the orders of his brother. After all, if what he said was true, something BIG was coming. Big and Dangerous. Just how the brothers liked it, but Alex was unwilling to risk another shattering, so here Zalera was. After all, barhopping was his scene. And yet this wasn’t hooking up with girls for a one night stand, no. This was babysitting, and that was eternally BORING! Yet he enjoyed being alive more, so here he was in the shadows of ‘Rocky’s Watering Hold,’ waiting.

“You’re up early.” Zal heard Raphael’s voice nearby, although the man was certainly in mist form instead of standing around in natural camouflage. “Wouldn’t you be up early, too, with such important work ahead of you?” Zalera’s retort was jovial but cold at the same time. “You wound me, brother.” Raphael’s comment was fast. “Don’t you think I would be doing such a… prestigious job if it was in my scope?”

“No.”

“Never the less, this is our duty as a whole now, no? I’m sending Trish down to help you out. I figured she was more your scene anyway.”

“No wait-!” He felt that Raphael was gone already, and he cursed his luck. This was going to be complicated. But as he thought that, he saw the woman coming along, the one that Alex had marked to keep watch at the very least. She was something, all-right. She had to work with tips, because she knew how to work it. He watched as she headed into the tavern, and he went the other way, to the main entrance, dropping the camo act.

It was time to get things rolling, he figured.

RE: Prophecy

Maddy's heels clicked on the gravel parking lot as she walked towards the employee doors. Brushing a few stray hairs from her face she opened the door and walked inside. Mark was the first to see her, he always had some comment to make about what she wore to work. "Hot as always Maddy, when will you give in to my charms?" Rolling her eyes as she headed into the small area designated for employee belongings. "Maybe the problem is I don't find you very charming Mark," of course she masked her sincerity with a joking tone. There was no need to hurt the mans feelings or ego rather. He was scummy looking, always showing up to work in a dirty t-shirt and torn up jeans.

Snagging an apron from a shelf she straightened her hair before walking out into the bar area. Music filled the air, tonight it was a DJ and the place was really moving already. Grabbing a tray from behind the bar, she started making her rounds immediately. Stopping at any table that looked like drinks were needed. Her memory was like a steel trap, so remembering what drink went where would never be an issue.

Maddy was in a strangely good mood tonight, not to say she was always in a bad mood. Tonight she just felt extra good, her hips swayed to the music that played. Catching the attention of a few of the patrons.

RE: Prophecy

Zalera came in through the front doors, and although he didn’t look scummy with torn clothes, he was dressed relaxed and messy in what he called a half suit: His button up white shirt half untucked and black pants disheveled from his hips slightly. He surveyed the room, checking how filled the place was. There was a lot of people, to be sure, but not enough to send Trish away, which was a shame. He just had to hope that she wouldn’t find her way there. Fat chance, though. There was liquor here.

He made his way in, finding a seat alone as he listened to the music and waited for a waitress to come his way. It was just his luck that the one he was charged with watching came his way. “Long Island, hard.” He watched as she turned to get it, disappointed that Alex gave the orders for hands off. He wasn’t sure his hands would be enough. Ah well. For all who stake claims.

He brushed his stark red hair back, leaning back on the chair as he watched the club in its entirety. Night had fallen fully, which meant any sort of creature could be here. And if Alexander was right, that meant that anything could be here for her, whether or not her strand to fate could harm others. She was a commodity to many now.

Just thinking about it made him think the liquor was going to be extra sweet.

RE: Prophecy

Niserie had already been there for an hour, she sat in a dark corner watching and waiting for the girl to show. She wore a short green dress to blend into the crowd but she wasn't here for the music. They Faye needed this girl, she was the answer to the destruction of every vampire alive, more to the point the destruction of the three brothers. She had to make sure they got to the girl first. Her eyes lite up as soon as the girl walked in, the light left them when the youngest of the brothers walked in shortly after.

This would make things difficult to say the least, Dironas was still rather occupied at the moment. Niserie would not be able to fight the brother on her own.

Maddy finished making her rounds with an unfamiliar face. The dark red hair caught her attention right away. "Long Island hard, coming right up," she smiled at him as she wiped down his table with a damp cloth. There was something off about him, or rather just something that pushed her to stick around. Shrugging the feeling off, she turned from him and made her way to the bar. Placing the orders for the drink, she set each one on her tray as they were made. Her hips continued to sway with the music, as she waited. Her eyes traveling back to the new face.

RE: Prophecy

Zalera wasn’t simply an idle watcher: his mind was touching the minds of every inhabitant of the bar, testing intentions. After all, it wasn’t just humans that he had bedded, and there were enough other specifics in races that he probably jilted in the past that would love to get back at him and his brothers. It wasn’t long before he felt that presence, the Faye that was sitting in a corner trying to blend in, but the killer ideas were too easy to feel even without diving in to see the specifics. His mind blasted hers with a loud static, to disrupt her thoughts and as a grave warning. Maybe it was best for her to just leave.

His mind was now split, keeping track of the Faye and the woman he was sent to watch over. She was a teasing sight, that was for sure. Shame he was told hands off…

What is the situation. Zal noted Alexander’s tone in his head rather easily.

We have Faye here, at least one. I don’t know what her problem is, but she has murder on her mind.

Figures. I’ll be there shortly.

Well, that was a relief at least. If Trish showed up, he could reign her in. And if there was more Faye, it would be difficult to keep this woman out of their hands.

Are you sure that-

No.

Damn.

RE: Prophecy

Niserie followed every move the girl made. She should have chosen a table closer to bar, if she had she wouldn't have to wait so long to grab her. Using her own abilities she scanned the expansive bar room. Touching minds for any sort of intentions towards the girl. Her mind brushed against something just before static came. Her hand flew to her temple as she fought against it.

'Well great, Dironas you had better wrap things up, they know I am here.'

'I will be there when I can, you will just have to sit back for while.'

'I still don't know what you think is more important then taking the girl, before the brothers do.'

'That is my business, Niserie...'
the connection was suddenly severed between them with the last word.

It was ten minutes before she had all the drinks she needed. Following the same path as before, Maddy found her way to the strange man she waited on last. "Long Island hard," she set the glass down with a smile. "Did you want to pay now, or should I start you a tab?" Normally only the regulars got to start tabs, but she was trying to find a way to stay a bit longer. The longer she stood here however the stranger she felt. It was like she was being watched.

RE: Prophecy

He didn’t like the fact that the woman stayed even after blasting her mind with static. That meant there was far more on the line here than he knew, and it was his job to know things. It made him incredibly antsy. His eyes remained split between the two women, the danger and the target, knowing that something was going to happen soon if he didn’t instigate it sooner. However, it wasn’t long before Maddy came his way with his drink, and although his mind tracked everything, his eyes were on her.

“Thank you, I can pay now.” He grabbed his walled, pulling out some dollar bills, but he waved for her to come closer, to whisper low to her. “I think you need to call security. That woman over there in the corner has been watching you the whole time I have been here, and she doesn’t look happy. I think she might be up to something.” He slid an extra two dollars for her as a tip as he took his drink, motioning towards the Faye with the slightest of motions.

RE: Prophecy

Taking the bills from him she fished around in her apron for the change. Raising an eye brow slightly when he motion for her to come closer. Being a cocktail waitress she was use to people thinking they could just grab a feel whenever they felt like it. Taking the half step closer Maddy leaned in to hear what he had to say. Eyes following the direction of where he indicated to a woman in a green dress.

It was true the girl didn't look happy, but it could just be that she had been waiting a long time for a drink. "Do you know her," she asked slowly bringing her attention back to him. Reality was she couldn't just have her thrown out for looking angry. Now if she had started a scene with another patron then yes, but angry wasn't a good enough reason to throw someone out of the bar. "If you know her, and think she might cause a problem I can have her escorted out." Brushing the stray hair behind her ear again.

Nesirie could see from here that Zalera, was attempting something. Knowing full well he would sense her trying to listen in she could only guess at what was being said. Averting her attention to something else when the girl looked in her direction. Standing up from her stool the Faye smoothed out her dress. She would have to move somewhere that it would be easier for her to grab the girl. The bar itself seemed like a good location, she could stay close to the back entrance.

RE: Prophecy

“I don’t know her personally, no.” Zalera admitted, shifting his gaze slightly to watch as Nesirie stood up. “I just know these sort of things. It’s in my job to know. I work security myself, see.” He turned to face Maddy. “If anything, just stay away from her. If you have to go near her, send someone else. For your own safety.” He took a drink of the Long Island, letting that distract him for a moment. His voice picked up significantly. “This is pretty good. Better than most bars. Hey, why don’t you take a seat? Take ten off for now.”

His eyes darted as he felt a familiar presence come in from the main door, although he didn’t turn to look. Trish was standing in a relaxed way, leaned back slightly. She wore a tube top and fitted jeans, and she looked around before heading to the bar directly. As much as Zal was enjoying the backup right then, he still cursed that it had to be the barfly in there with him. And the fact that his brother was coming as well made him nervous.

“So, tell me, how long have you worked here?” He took another drink, leaning back and eyes going over her to measure her up. “Seen anything interesting around here? It tends to be really… boring, from what I know.”

RE: Prophecy

She couldn't help but wonder what he was getting at. He didn't know the girl but for some reason thought her dangerous. Then again she knew some people just had the gift of really reading a person. Problem was she couldn't just ignore the girl, she was sitting at the bar now. "How about I promise to be extra careful." Maddy hoped that would put him at ease. Brushing the hair behind her ear again, she glanced towards the bar tender. "That's because Mark in the best bartender for at least a hundred miles." Her eyes widened slightly when he asked her to sit for a while.

Normally she would say no, after all she had tables to attend to. Ten minutes wouldn't hurt though, "aahh, sure but just ten minutes." Setting her tray on the edge of the table Maddy took the stool across from him. Maybe these ten minutes was what she needed to figure out why the immediate area seemed a little strange.

"Oh, uuumm just about six months," she answered. It really hadn't taken long to find herself a job once she got here. Talking Rocky into giving her a job went rather easy. It was still a mystery why she even came here in the first place, but in the end she found that she loved it here. Haven wasn't an overly large city, but it wasn't a small one either. With a population of about 30k, a lot of things happened here. "Oh well, I'm LA so interesting was just a way of life. I am really like the slower pace here though for sure." Maddy found herself blushing when she noticed his eye traveling over her body.

RE: Prophecy

Zalera listened carefully to her, although he noticed that Trish had sat at the bar, which gave the group a good reach for what they could do if something happened. Suddenly he didn’t feel so bothered by her getting close to the Faye. After all, if they showed themselves in public, it would not look good for their kind. The Faye would be hunted at the very least, something that the brothers weren’t worried too much about.

He took another drink as he listened to her answer his questions, nodding. “Yeah, it’s much quieter around here, but I think something may happen sooner or later. People are getting restless, have you noticed?” He took another drink, eyes flashing to Trish, who was being served her drink. “But the quiet is very nice. Hardly as nice as you are, though. But don’t let me hold you up here. I’m sure I can find you when your shift ends, no? I’m sure there are some things that you would enjoy seeing.” And for someone who was a leader of seduction, there was no innuendo in that sentence.

Neserie saw one of the brothers cohorts walk into the expansive bar. Almost immediately she was set on edge. This was getting to dangerous, and with out Dironas here to back her up she wouldn't be able to stay. The Faye would just have to find another way of getting to girl. Pushing the drink she had order to the middle of the bar, the pale haired Faye stood and walked out.

'Well I hope you are happy now Dironas. I had no choice but to leave, I was quickly becoming out numbered.'

'Ppfftt, you could have stayed. You were just scared you can't blame me for you losing your nerve.'

Things were getting stranger by the minute, as he spoke she was getting more of a strange feeling. Has she noticed that people were getting restless, maybe she wasn't sure though. Then again she hadn't really been paying attention to it. His compliment had her blushing again, her cheeks stained a pale pink color. Wiping her hands on her apron she stood from the stool, "I really should get back to making my rounds. People need their drinks after all, they start getting a little upset when they have to wait long." Taking her tray in hand again, she made a note of his own glass. He wouldn't need a refill any time soon, "I'm Maddy by the way." Tucking the hair behind her ear again, she waited for him to introduce himself before starting her rounds.

The woman in the green dress had left, Maddy caught just a glimpse of her pale hair as she made her way quickly outside. That was a relief, at least they wouldn't have to worry about her causing any problems tonight. She was able to relax again, so her hips began to sway to music as she walked. Grabbing up empty bottles and glass, she piled them on her tray. To think her shift had just started not even half an hour again. A few times she caught herself looking towards 'his' table.

Zalera was able to breathe a sigh of relief as the Faye left the building, seemingly off-put by how much reinforcement he had with him. He had half a mind to send Trish after her, but thought better of it. It could be an ambush, after all. He let himself be distracted from his train of thoughts with her words, though, nodding his head. “They call me Zal. That’s good enough for a name, I suppose?” He nodded to her, taking a drink as he watched her walk away.

The evening passed decently quickly now that there wasn’t anyone threatening the woman directly, and it let Zal relax as he listened to the music and got drinks quick enough. The alcohol didn’t affect him all too much, but he noticed that Trish was drinking sparingly at the bar, even though there were two or three full drink, obviously purchased for her. But it wasn’t getting to her. He noticed Maddy making eyes with him, and he stifled a chuckle.

It seems the gal has a thing for me, she keeps making eyes at me.

Keep your hands and minds to yourself.

Or else what? I’m going to be grounded?

No. I’ll cut it off.

Neserie was in a fowl mood to put it lightly. They had the perfect chance to grab the girl but Dironas just had to put his own needs first. Coming back to the makeshift headquarters she slammed the door closed. "We didn't get her, and it is all thanks to Dironas." She complain to Vale, a younger Faye recruit whom they only used as a secretary at the moment. She had the pale hair that was a trade mark of their line of Faye, but what set this one apart was her tanned skin and dark blue eyes. She was a a clairvoyant, the only reason they knew that Maddy was even here was because of her.

Maddy continued to repeat her rounds, even waiting on the section of the bar that wasn't hers. She liked to keep herself busy, especially when she had something around to distract her. And the man with the dark red hair was definitely a distraction. He seemed familiar some how though, she was sure they had never met before. With a tray full of empty bottles and glasses, she made her way to the bar with them. Taking a bit of a detour along the way she stopped once again at his table. "Can I get you another one Zal, or would you like something different," his glass was only half empty, but she needed a reason to stop and talk to him.

You do know I regenerate, yeah?

Sure you do. But that doesn’t mean anything. I’ll collect them. And then force you to eat a bag of dicks.

Zalera was stunned by that, gaining a flat look for a moment. … What?

Isn’t that what the young people say to insult each other?

It took all of Zalera’s willpower not to burst into laughter. He still had it reverberating in his head. Alex… Don’t try to be hip. Anyway, The Faye has left, so we’re in the clear for the moment. Feel free to continue your way just in case.

Got it.

Zalera was pulled out of that conversation with Maddy coming his way. He took a small drink and offered her a smile. “Thank you, but no. I’m waiting on someone and I don’t want to be passed out before they get here, after all.” He leaned back in the chair, looking at her. “You want to talk. Or else you wouldn’t have come this way. I’ve already gotten offers for refills from everyone working bar tonight.”

She smiled at him, of course he would have been offered refills by everyone else. The fact that he pointed out that she obviously wanted to talk though had her blushing slightly. She was glad for the low lighting in the bar. "Well...you see," she shifted slightly before setting the tray on an empty table. "I keep getting the feeling that I know you. I am sure we have never met before tonight though." Sliding onto the stool Maddy wiped her hands on her apron. "I have only been in Haven for a few months, so I really don't know anyone yet. I just get this feeling that I know you, not met you before but know you." She was listening to her own words, laughing at how crazy stalker like it sounded. Glancing towards the bar, she saw Mark watching her. He didn't look all that happy that she was sitting with Zal, the way he slammed the clean glass down on the drying rack indicated this.

"I'm sorry, I need to get back to work. Just flag me down if you decide you want a refill ok." Taking her full tray, she gave Zal a quick smile before walking up to the bar. "Sorry Mark, just trying to be friendly to the new patron."

"Can...I talk to you in the hall Madeleine," he asked as he finished drying another glass. He didn't look at her when he spoke however.

He used her full name instead of Maddy, this worried her little. "Uumm, yeah sure," setting the tray on the edge of the bar she turned to walk towards the bar. Mark pushed pass her slightly then grabbed hold of her arm.

"You really... shouldn't be talking to that guy. I can't have him taking you away, not when we are this close." He began to drag her towards the back door. Kicking it open he hauled her outside, pulling a cell phone from his pocket.

"Mark...w-what are you doing. Stop you're hurting me..." his grip only tightened when she tried pulling away.

"Yeah... it has to happen now, the youngest brother is here, that means they found her........I am loading her in the car as we speak, I will be there in twenty minutes......just be ready" He looked to Maddy then, the eyes that she had always thought were blue, were a strange purple color now. "We had hoped to prolong this a little longer, but him waltzing in like that sped things up a bit. I told them it was a bad idea to keep you out in the open like that."

They reach Marks car, opening the trunk lid he pulled out a length of rope, closing the trunk once more. "Mark... please.." her words cut off as she was pushed down onto the trunk and her wrists pulled behind her. The rope already beginning to dig into her soft skin. "I would have let you ride comfortably but something tells me you would just be a pain in the ass Maddy."

Zal heard her question, pondering what it could mean and relaying it to his brother before opening his mouth to speak. But before he could get any answer she was retreating back to the bar, obviously because of the bartender’s agitation. But something seemed weird. Even weirder when the man pulled her away from the bar – and the building as a whole. Trish looked to Zal, and he nodded. She left through the back, while Zal got up, heading out the front door.

The man was busy with Maddy, which made it easy to take care of such things. Still, pulling a weapon was a dangerous proposition in the city. So… “Hey, asshole!” The female voice rang loud, and before he could turn fully his face was greeted by a heavy roundhouse punch. Whether or not it staggered him mattered not, Trish was aiming another punch at the man’s gut. All the while three other copies of Trish were advancing on the group.

Zalera turned the corner to find the fight starting, and he didn’t hesitate to pull out his twin blades, moving quickly, more to secure Maddy than to fight. “Maddy, get down and away from him.” It was more a command than anything. “We’re going to get you out of here safely, just do as I say!”

Mark was busy, and he hadn't expected to be seen taking Maddy out of the bar. He got a little to comfortable so wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings. Customer didn't come back here since they had no business to. So when the female shouted to get his attention he was more then a little stunned. Whirling around to confront the person, he was knocked back with a powerful punch. The second punch however he was ready for. Grabbing the wrist attached to the fist he smiled, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. "That was a nice hit coming from a girl, I must say." He returned the favor of the hit to the face, with one just as strong to the woman's gut. "I don't like being interrupted," he watched as three more of the woman began advancing.

Maddy was still a little stunned herself from the events that had happened with in a few short minutes. The rope on her wrists hadn't been pulled tightly yet, so as soon as Marks grip left her she pulled her hands free. Out of no where the man from the bar was ordering to get away from Mark. She didn't have to be told twice, she scrambled pass him. Stopping a few feet away, rubbing at the freshly forming bruise on her arm.

"Don't go to far little Maddy, I will be done here shortly." Mark said with another smile, as the ends of his fingers formed into sharp points. Pulling a hand back he made ready to shove the clawed hand into the woman's chest.

Zal put his hand on Maddy’s shoulder. “I’ll explain later. Just know that if you leave with that man, bad things will happen to this world, and that is something we are aiming against.” He didn’t move far, sure that someone or something else will pop out and grab her if he went to Trish’s aid. Not that she needed it, of course.

Trish didn’t seem phased by the slap, and the thought of him stabbing her through the chest seemed to excite her. But before he had the chance to, the body faded into nothing, while the other three advanced, pulling blades. “You talk too much. Let’s change that.” The three Trish’s went around the guy like a predator tracking prey, before springing. One slashed at the throat, another at the stomach, and the third coming from behind for the spine.

Meanwhile, clouds were forming heavy overhead, and they were pulling downward. The storm was brewing, but Zal seemed hopeful. From the clouds landed Alexander and Raphael, both looking strong and ready to fight. Zalera turned to Maddy. “Go with them, they’ll take you to safety.”

Her attention followed the hand that rested on her shoulder for a moment, then she focus on his face as he began to talk. What was going on, everything seemed so normal when she woke up this morning. It changed in the matter of a few hours, starting with Zal. For the moment Maddy stood motionless, as if she tried to move her body may not hold her up. The fight in front of her was brutal, and gory to say the least. She watched as the strange woman disappeared from Marks grasp, and the three that looked just like her closed in on him.

Maddy's body finally moved slightly at the sight of the coming storm. Jumping when there were suddenly two men in front of her. Zal gave another command, and she nodded her understanding. Her eyes didn't leave Mark as the fight continued, that was until she was but a foot away from the two men. As the first blade struck Maddy quickly looked away, closing her eyes tightly as she suddenly clung to the first solid object she could find. This happened to be a person of course. She didn't want to watch the person she thought was a friend murdered.

Mark on the other hand was only slightly surprised by the disappearing woman. This wasn't his first rodeo after all. This would of course slow things down a little with the death of this body. It wasn't his though, so what did he care. The sadistic smile crept over his lips as the three closed in, each wielding blades. "Oh, I'm afraid ladies it will take a bit more then those to kill me," he waited until just before the first one swung on him. The eyes that glowed purple suddenly changed to the pale blue that Maddy had remembered. "Wait..stop..." Mark dropped to his knees.

The two brothers, Alexander and Raphael, were quick to take Maddy, and the two disappeared into the storm, although the storm itself only now opened up with little chance to relent anytime soon. Zalera stepped forward with his blades, ready to help Trish if necessary. But that didn’t seem to happen, given the change of the man’s demeanor.

The three hesitated slightly at the change, looking the man over. But they quickly steeled up. “You’re a vessel, or the Masque is broken. Either way, it isn’t my problem.” And with that blades slid into the flesh with a hiss. As the body fell to the ground, Zalera called the lightning, bringing it down several times until the body was just a smoldering spot on the ground. Then they left, Trish grabbing on to Zal to travel with him, two clones simply vanishing.

The three were taken to the main hall of Alexander’s estate, setting her down on marble but keeping a hand on her shoulder to make sure she didn’t fall over. It was a magnificent building, the room they were in massive and leading to many others along three different floors. A large staircase stood in front of them, leading up to the other floors as well as a central door. “Welcome to the estate, Maddy.” Alexander said, his tone a little stronger and deeper than Zal’s was. “You’ll be safe here.”

Maddy didn't even have time to realize was happened next, not that she would have understood any of it. One minute they were standing in the parking lot of the bar, then next they weren't. Someone she had thought was a friend was being murdered somewhere, though the sounds of her surrounds were different so she wouldn't have to witness it. What was once loose gravel, was now polished marble beneath her feet. Looking up and around, the confusion plainly evident on her face. "I.... don't," her eyes then focus on the face that belonged to the voice that spoke to her. "what....where." He was going to think she had a simple mind if she couldn't form a damn sentence.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself a little, she squeezed her eyes just for a moment. Opening them again her steel blue eyes focused once again on the mans face. "Did...they kill him, did they kill Mark," she asked, it shouldn't matter since he apparently had some plan for her. Maddy didn't bother to step away from the mans grasp on her shoulder, she found it rather comforting to have it there.

“You ask questions that you know the answer to already. That man was not only a deadly link, but a tool to those that would kidnap and injure you. That link had to be severed.” Alexander turned to see Zalera and Trish jump out from the void, looking none the worse for wear. “It seemed that our arrival was unnecessary, hmm?”

Zalera managed a chuckle. “Glorified taxi-boy that you are, brother.”

Alexander snarled. “You disposed of it, right?”

“Without a trace.”

“Good.” Alex turned to Maddy, a small frown on his face. “It’s a sorrow that he had to be collateral, but it is what it is. As it stands, you’re alive because you’re valuable. They wanted you for something, and I somehow think simply erasing you would be far more difficult than that. So you can stay here as a guest. They cannot get into this stronghold. Nor would they dare try, on forfeiture of their lives.”

Her eyes widened at his harsh words. Saying that Mark was 'only a deadly link', he spoke of a man who was not only her boss but at one time a good friend. Narrowing her eyes she stepped back from him. Something had been off about Mark, though she wasn't entirely sure what it was. All she knew is the Mark she had become friends with would never have done what he did. Maddy jumped then as Zal and the woman suddenly jumped out of no where. Her hand once again went to the bruises on her arm caused by Marks tight grip. She flinched as they spoke of Marks death, once again as if it was a normal occurrence.

Looking around once again as the stranger spoke. Maddy wondered if he too saw her only as a valuable object. The way he spoke of her certainly indicated such. "Is... there no possibility of me going home?" A small part of her was sure the answer would be no.
