The dim light from Hermione's wand barely illuminated the halls around her. The entire school had decided that they needed to douse all the lights, as to not excite the troll. Hermione couldn't help but think that particularly foolish, as most trolls could see well enough in the night anyway. All it did was allow the beast to move more easily. But the argument was that they didn't want to excite or irritate it any more than they needed to. in the end, Hermione simply agreed to go along with the rules.
Normally the curly-haired Gryffindor would be stalking the halls with Harry and/or Ron. But the two had been outright stupid lately. When they'd heard about this whole event, they'd immediately made snide comments about how Hermione had spent the last troll attack hiding in a bathroom waiting for them to save her. Furious, Hermione had snapped at both of them before storming off. They were sixth years, for goodness sakes! You'd think they could act like adults instead of children. It was just because Dumbledore had taken a shine to Harry. And Ron had just been... irritating lately.
Hermione muttered curses toward men in general as she swung her wand about, eying the various walls. Most everyone else had split up across the halls, and technically she wasn't supposed to be out. That sort of grated against her earlier decision to adhere to the rules set down by the elders, but, well, this was different. Now she was trying to prove that she could manage it now.
"I just have to find the troll and subdue it. shouldn't be that hard," she muttered. Shifting nervously, she tucked a loose strand of hair behind an ear and rounded another corner.
