For the last few weeks now all the news papers in Los Angeles were buzzing about the reunion of a once great rock band. The headlines read that Razors Edge was getting back together for a special show which would be shown on tv. Ryan Daniels who was better known by his stage name "Axe" was driving down the freeway heading for the first meeting with his surviving band mates in almost 20 years. Ryan couldn't help but think about how it all started. His mind drifted back to a time when the band was new and the future was bright. The Razors Edge first started when Ryan joined with a group of friends from school to form a band called "Private Eyes." Kristoff Thomas on bass, James " Maniac " Jennings on drums, Terry " TA " Allen on lead vocals and Ryan who played lead guitar formed the group. The band had become popular on the local club scene. They knew a name change would be needed before getting any kind of major record deal.
Everything was going great. The band would jam in Ryan's garage and play clubs at night. But once talk started about becoming superstars, James backed out. He didn't want to become famous, all he wanted was just to jam. So only a few months after the band had started their climb to stardom, James dropped out while his brother Tom " Tommy J" Jennings stepped in and took over on drums. The band was still doing well and soon had they were getting bigger clubs to play in. It wasn't long after that the band started getting the attention of local radio DJ's, but there was trouble ahead. The lead singer TA Allen decided to go on one of those tv shows where people sing for a chance at a record deal. He never told anyone in the band and once he made it on the show, TA quit the band just before a big show. TA didn't know that local DJ's were talking about the band and a big time talent agent named Johnny Shine would be at their next show. If Johnny liked how they sounded and how they looked on stage. He planned on signing them to a contract.
Ryan, Kristoff & Tommy J were left hanging without a lead singer just days from a huge gig. The guys decided to go ahead with out TA even though it wouldn't easy finding some new so quickly. Sure Ryan and the other guys could sing, but that's not what they wanted. They wanted someone up front while they played. The next day the band had a meeting where they changed their name from the Private Eyes to Razors Edge. They also put the word out that the band was having open audition for lead singer. Those coming to the audition were told that they would sing two songs for the band, plus they needed to bring an audition tape with them. On the day of the audition some 30 people showed up and from that 30, 5 were picked. Ryan and his band mates spent the next few hours listening to each tape and the one that stood out most was from the only female who ended up in the top 5.. Her name was Helen Bernard , but she would become better known by her nickname "Moxie".
Moxie got the call later that night from Ryan saying that she was now the new lead singer. They were having a jam session at Ryan's garage the next day and that they had a show to do that same night. After the phone call, Tommy J suggested that since they had a female lead now, they should add songs done by female singers. This made sense to Ryan so he added some songs from Pat Benatar, Heart & Joan Jet to their play list. But Moxie would also have to sing songs that were normally done by guys. The guys would get a full taste of what Moxie was bring to this partnership once they jammed together that very next day.
The next day came and the guys got together at Ryan's garage. The garage wasn't used for parking cars anymore. Ryan had the place full of electronic gear, musical instruments and recording machines. The large door was wide open and the guys were in the middle of the garage. Tommy was behind his drum kit, Kristoff was to the right of Tommy and Ryan was to his left. An extra microphone was set up for Moxie once she arrived. The guys had just started playing the song Legs Ryan was singing and playing lead guitar.
