In this world, there are superpowered individuals.
And that's the easy part.
Basically, no one knows why, but one day, they just showed up. People who could do things no one else could. And almost immediately, crime went up at an enormous rate. People used their newfound abilities to wreak havoc and spread fear throughout the world. And as a reaction, superheroes were born. Men and women, young and old, who took it upon themselves to protect the ones who were not gifted incredible superpowers. The first ones knew that to protect this brand new world, they'd have to stick together. They'd have to form a league, and that's just what they did.
They don't really have a formal name, although people just call them the League. And their job is to take care of the world. Enough said. But the League knows that they won't be able to do their job forever. While their ranks grew to the point they included over forty heroes, the founders knew that as time moved on, they would need to find new heroes who would be able to take the torch and light the way forward. And at the same time, they needed to take care of the biggest source of new supervillains: teenagers who didn't know what to do with their powers and ended up using it for less noble jobs. For these purposes, the Academy was created.
Located in the USA, on an undisclosed location near the major city known as Megacity, the Academy houses a huge amount of wannabe heroes, people who live and study there, learning how to control their powers so one day they might become full-fledged members of the League.
These are their stories.
A teenager ran through the city, his ginger hair swishing in the wind as he ran past cars, activating their alarms thanks to his near-light speed. He jumped from one car to the other, performing unnecessary acrobatic moves as a way of showing off to the people around him and his blue and white costume. His real name was Jesse, but not a lot of people knew that. They just knew him as Quickboy.
He had received a message from downtown. A bank robbery. The person behind it? The Multiplier. A long-time enemy of Quickboy, a man who had the ability to create multiple clones of himself. Of course, each clone was just as useless as the original, so he didn't have much trouble dealing with him. As Quickboy neared the attack the Multiplier's hundred clones were making on the bank, he wondered if anything would go different today. He still had a life at the Academy, one that he loved very very much...
... but he always earned for something new to happen.
