The nation of Gran Diel quickly rose from little more than a feeble magocracy to a powerful empire with quickly expanding borders under the guidance of her new Empress, a sorceress of unrivaled power. Never balking at demonic pacts or forbidden magics, dark sorceries flourished beneath her reign, permeating all levels of society. Her rule was not one of terror or brutality, but one filled with hedonistic indulgence. Rumors abound of the Empress' own infernal lineage - and not without merit, for with the sensual and salacious deviance that permeated Gran Diel under her guidance it would come as no surprise if she happened to be of succubus descent. Though the empire did little more than zealously defend her borders, fear and discontent spread amongst rival nations, jealousy and suspicion fueled by the taboo nature of the empire's magic led to a coalition of kingdoms marching upon Gran Diel.
Mighty as Gran Diel was, the empire could not hope to stand against an entire continent. Thus the empire fell, its land and riches divided as spoils to her conquerors. While the Empress' whereabouts remain unknown, she left one final treasure awaiting to be recovered. Off into the countryside near the former royal capital, nestled amongst the picturesque lightly wooded plains sat a carefully concealed arcane sanctum, looking to be little more than a former temple to some forgotten deity abandoned during the previous war. The surrounding land healed quickly, suffering few scars from battle as the capital itself was spared from the worst of the conflict. Suspended within a prison of shimmering, translucent crystal lay the sole heir to Gran Diel's throne, concealed by the Empress' most powerful spells, their true location known only to a select few of her most loyal vassals. Above the central altar the crystal floated, protecting the heir within from harm and time's passage until the day of their awakening...

Ahoy, backstory! So the gist of the plot I have in mind is my character would be a prince or princess, hidden away to be awakened some time after the empire's fall. The home they once knew is now under foreign rule, their title is good only for being taken prisoner, and they are all alone in the world - save for whomever awakens them, namely your character! Where the plot takes the characters from there is open ended. Is the slumbering imperial heir awoken by a loyal vassal, or stumbled upon by an adventurer? Will they seek to leave their old life behind, or strive to ascend the ranks of nobility under an assumed name and create a harem out of the empire's conquerors? I'm open to many possibilities! What is decided, though, is that the heir will be the mischievous sort rather than dark and brooding. Expect their new freedom to be put to all manner of lascivious uses!
