Nobody was sure when the dragon first started to attack their little village, when the first bit of flame was blown from its maw and burned the home of their mystic. They had all been frightened and scared the night it happened, and even more so when the same thing happened a month or so later. Nobody knew where the dragon came from, and with their last dragon hunter having died without passing on his knowledge to another man, they consulted the mystic who ruled over their little village. He wasn't sure what to say about it at first, but the attacks grew more frequent, and soon the dragon was attacking the village at least every week, making everyone fear that the dragon would attack while they slept. Only one was killed so far, but homes were burned each time the dragon flew to their village. Then, the man summoned the villagers and told them what to do.
And so, that was why they put the women of the village on display and the young ones, ages fifteen to twenty-two were all looked at, all of them virgins who were without husbands and who were lovely in the their eyes. The one who was chosen was an eighteen year old young woman, whose only family was her mother for her father had been the one person among them to die. Her name was Lily for her hair was a golden as the lilies by the pond they drank from when she was born. Even then, when the sun was at its highest peak and she stood under its rays, her hair looked like liquid gold. Her eyes were a strange thing to belong, golden like the wolves the people feared before the dragon's arrival. These characteristics were reason why she was chosen to be the dragon's sacrifice.
Even though it was for the good of her people, she was still scared, and so they had to bound her hands behind her back so she wouldn't be able to fight them as the men took her to what they thought was the den of the dragon. Lily struggled as they pulled her through the forest by her arms, holding her roughly to make sure that she walked after them so no energy would be spent carrying her. She was an average sized, delicate looking woman with sun-kissed skin, standing at a height of five feet and three inches. They pulled her into a clearing before forcing her onto her back, quickly tying her ankles before she could kick them or they had to hurt her. This woman looked untouched and her skin was without a mark, they wanted her to stay like this for the dragon. She continued to struggle after the men left. She wasn't stupid. She knew why they left her there like that, and hated them for it. With her fingers, she tried to loosen the rope to no avail. And so, after some time, she just gave up.
