Blair pressed her ear to the hallway wall, careful not to make a sound. She could hear her father talking to the men of the guard, planning a trip to who knows where. Her eyebrows furrowed in anger. He never considered what she wanted, how this sudden trip had ruined all of her plans that she had been planning for weeks. Listening closely, she learned that he was shipping her to some desert town for some unknown reason. Unfortunately, the king wouldn't tell her escorts why she was being transported. That would only be know by the high guard and the king himself. Hearing footsteps, she quickly hid behind one of long billowing curtains that covered the windows at night, listening as the guardsmen marched down the hall. She tried to calm herself, feeling the need to stomp her way into her father's study and give him a piece of her mind. Despite the fact it would be pointless and just get her into trouble for ease dropping. Instead, she tread back to her room and slammed the door as hard as she could. It only infuriated her more to see one of the maids packing her a travel bag. Throwing herself on her bed, she began mopping until one of the maids informed her that it was time to leave. She took her time changing into her traveling outfit, hoping to delay the trip for as long as possible and irritate everyone involved. Once she was finished, she grabbed a small bag that had a few things that she could use if she got bored on the way to the town. Mumbling an unladylike curse, she strolled down to the waiting carriage, leaving without even a word of goodbye.
She ended up waiting around in the carriage for a while before they had it loaded up and ready to go. Blair watched as the two guards climbed up into the drivers seat, the other two on either sides of the carriage. As the carriage began moving, she looked out of her window and watched as the castle where she lived became smaller and smaller. She watched as the landscape became more and more sandy, watching as all signs of life seemed to end. Cactus and tumble weeds, she thought. Much more exciting then hanging out with her friends. Crossing her arms and leaning back in her seat, she huffed and mopped. After what seemed like an entirety, the cabin jerked and dropped, pulling over to the side of the rode. She sat up and looked out the window, watching the guards knell down beside the carriage, the two in the driver seat whispering to themselves. "What is happening?" She demeaned, waiting impatiently for an answer. One of the guards grunted in answer, and the other replied curtly.
"One of the wheels broke."
Blair dropped down in her seat again, resuming her stare out the window. This is stupid, she thought, wishing to be any where else. She noticed how it was getting dark, and she wondered how much longer it would take to reach the town. Soon, the guards began unpacking, one opening the door and holding it open. "Spending the night miss, It is too dark to fix the wheel." Her eyes blinked in confusion. She had seen nothing but sand for miles, where was she supposed to sleep? Walking out of the carriage, she watched as the guards began to set up a small camp, pitching tents and rolling out sleeping bands. She gingerly walked over to the fire pit where one of the guards where starting up a fire, and carefully sat down on one of the larger crates. The sky grew darker as the guards worked, and she lounged until one offer to show her to her tent. He held open the tent flap for her as she crawled in, unhappily laying down on the uncomfortable sleeping bag. She eventually gave up on trying to make it comfortable, and she slowly dozed off.
