Melanie Jacobson never thought she would be homeless, that was because growing up she had everything. Her parents had given her the best education possible, she had plans to finish college early so she could go to medical school. Now she was standing on the street corner near an old abandon grocery store freezing her ass off, was five or six months pregnant maybe more then that. Her parents had kicked her out, told her she wasn't their child they had even cut off her tuition so she had to drop out of school. She walked toward the bench that sat in front of the bus sign, buried her face in her hands. There was no chance she planned on getting on the bus she just had to sit down, wished she would die. Her life had gone from perfect to a complete mess.

Rob Quinn was a thirty-five year old man who ran a successful business from home. He lived comfortably, but not lavishly, in a large two story home in the suburbs he used to share with his wife, Tracy. Unfortunately, the two divorced a couple of years ago, leaving Rob alone in a large house with no company. Sure, he had friends and had met a few people through work, but he was alone in all other aspects and really just wanted someone to share his home with.

As he drove past the old grocery store on his way home, he noticed an attractive woman looking incredibly dejected sitting on the bench near the bus stop. He figured she was waiting for the bus, but something drew him to her. He pulled up in front of her and noticed her belly. She was pregnant as well. What a sad sight.

"Excuse me. Are you alright?" he asked with his window rolled down.

Melanie looked up when someone stopped, she chewed on her lower lip wiping her tears with the sleeve of her jacket. '' I'm fine.'' She said as she ran her fingers through her tangled hair, sighed placing her hand on her stomach wincing when the baby kicked. Her instinct was to get up, run away cause she didn't really know why the guy had stopped. She didn't want to take any charity, she would just stay at a shelter when it got to cold. The closet shelter was full though, she didn't really know any place else she could stay. The young blonde just wanted a warm place to sleep, a nice hot meal but she couldn't afford it since she'd been kicked out onto the streets by her parents.

It wasn't Rob's place to judge, but from what he could see, the woman was not fine. The fact that she was pregnant and braving the cold told him something was amiss. He would offer help to her and if she refused it, he'd figure something out. He just couldn't stand to see such a beautiful girl, pregnant and cold and struggling.

"Please. I know this is strange, but hop in. You can't stay out there. It's freezing. Let me at least give you a lift," he said, trying not to sound like a creep just taking advantage of her situation. He truly cared and wanted to see her safe. There were no motives other than that.

" I don't need a ride, I don't need your sympathy." Melanie said as she struggled to stand up, walked back to her corner. She tried to ignore the man because well she just didn't want any pitty, it was her own fault she was out on the streets. The blonde should have known that getting pregnant wasn't part of her parents plan, now she was stuck. She just refused to take charity because she wanted to be independent, the only way she would give in was if she had no other choice. Of course she really didn't so with a quick sigh she finally gave in, walked around to the passenger side. She opened the door, buckled her seat belt which barely fit due to her pregnancy.

"Thanks," Rob said as he started to drive, looking over at the woman and her very visibly pregnant belly. She had the glow about her, even despite her circumstances. "I just couldn't stand the thought of something happening to you," he said, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Is there someplace I can take you or do you want to come home with me? I mean, you know. Not like that. Just, I can make you a nice meal and you can have a hot shower. I don't know if that's something you're looking for, but I'm putting it on the table." Rob realized he probably sounded like a stuttering idiot, but he was just trying to make her see he wasn't looking to take advantage of her. He just wanted to make her comfortable. She was owed at least that.

'' If I had some place to go do you really think I would be standing on the street? Anyways sounds good.. I could use a hot shower, a hot meal. Then again I could also use some clean clothes.'' Melanie said as she leaned her head against the window, sighed. She was glad this man seemed to show some interest in her situation, she cleared her throat as she coughed. '' I'm sorry.. where are my manners.. I'm Melanie.'' The blonde said as she smiled faintly, chewed on her lower lip. She didn't really know him, had grown up being told never to take a ride from a stranger but this was a different situation besides she couldn't stay on the streets forever.

"I'm Rob. Melanie, it's really nice meeting you. We can stop at the mall on the way home if you want to pick up some clothes. I mean, I really have nothing for you to wear aside from some of my oversized things, so if you don't mind me buying you a few things, we can head there," he said, realizing his charity was extending much further than most would have allowed, but he really just wanted to see things turn around for Melanie. He had no idea what she'd gone through or what landed her in such a precarious spot, but he wanted to go out of his way to help her.

'' That sounds awesome.. I'm a size six.. but as you can tell I need maternity clothing. I'd go in with you but I'm not really presentable.'' Melanie said as she chewed on her lower lip, blushed. She felt embarrassed about the way she looked, didn't want to embarrass him. It was apparent that he had plenty of money, the fact that he drove a nice car. She had a feeling he had a nice house to, wouldn't be shocked if it was a condo or something much fancier. All she knew was that he was helping her, she appreciated it even if he was a strange despite the fact she knew his name.

When they arrived at the mall a short time later, Rob looked over at her and shook his head. "You look fine. And I'm sure you don't want me picking out your clothes. Just come with me. Get what you want. Alright?" he said with a smile as he parked. Once he found a spot, he got out and walked around to the passenger side, extending a hand to help his new pregnant friend out of the car.

Melanie took his hand, climbed out of the car. She chewed on her lower lip, closed the door behind her. " Thank you so much." The blonde said as she held onto his hand, refused to let go. She would pick out what she needed but she would only let go of his hand when she had to try things on. It made her feel good that a complete stranger was going to be taking care of her, she couldn't wait to get a shower.

Rob hadn't expected her to hold his hand the entire time, but if it comforted her, he had no problem with it. She was so beautiful, even despite the circumstances and he just wanted to learn more about her. He would in time he was sure.

"Of course. You just lead the way and feel free to get as much as you want. I don't want to see you wearing the same thing over and over again," he said, flashing her another smile, his eyes glancing down at her belly. "How far along are you?" he asked.

'' Um.. I'm not really sure.. All I know is every once in awhile my stomach feels like punching bag for my baby's feet.'' Melanie said as she sighed, lead him into the mall. She lead him to her favorite store, into the right clothing aisle then let go of his hand. Once she had a few outfits she started to try them on, made sure none of them took away from her natural curves. She walked out of the dressing room in the first outfit, started modeling for him as she smiled. '' Do you like it? '' The blonde asked as she waited for him to answer she made sure her belly was covered with the shirt because well she was showing to where she could be five six or seven months maybe even eight she didn't know cause she hadn't been to the doctor.

"Well then as soon as you get settled at my place, we'll set up an appointment so he can get a checkup. That sort of thing is important, especially considering how far along it seems you are," he said, wanting nothing but the best for her. He just hoped she was healthy enough for the baby.

When they walked into the one store, he merely stood back with his hands in his pockets and waited patiently for Melanie to try on whatever she liked. When she came out in the first one, his eyes widened as he looked her up and down. "Wow, Melanie. You look amazing," he said, truthfully. The outfit definitely accentuated her curves, much more than what she was wearing before and the sight really intrigued Rob.

"Please...get that one," he said with a smirk.

'' Okay.. I'm gonna try some more outfits on.'' Melanie said as she smiled, walked back into the dressing room. She took off the 1st outfit, put on another one then looked at herself in the mirror, walked out to where he was standing. '' What about this one? '' The blonde asked as she modeled for him, she could see the concern on his face when he said something about setting up an appointment to get a check up. She had to admit she was questioning her own health since living on the streets wasn't a wise way to live for a pregnant woman, it made her very nervous about seeing a doctor.

Rob nodded his head approvingly. He was pretty sure she could have tried on anything in that place and he would've loved it. She was just a beautiful girl with an incredible figure. There was no denying it. "Looks great, too. You wear everything well. If you want, you can wear one home if you don't want to put your old clothes back on," he told her, wanting her to be as comfortable as possible.

Melanie smiled at him, tried on a few more outfits. She chose the final one as the one to wear out of the store, she tossed her old clothes into a trash can but kept her coat because she had a few things in the pockets plus it was the only coat she had. Once she got to his place she would take the stuff out, wash it. She felt much better in her new clothes, her shoes weren't the warmest but she didn't want him spending to much money on her.
