Carrie Andrews had just managed to get her drivers license a week ago. She had always shown herself to be responsible, respectful and take great care to follow the rules and laws. So shortly after she got her license she was given a car, it wasn't much, it was what her parents called a test car. For the next year she had to show she could maintain it, learn how to do some preventive care on it and keep a good driving record. If she did all this then they would buy her, within reason, a car she wanted that was newer so it would give her many years of use.
Carrie was determined to show her parents that she could do it, but she was also young. Her best friends Amelia and Diane asked her to go with them to a party, she told her parents that they were going out to a double feature movie which they often did on a Friday night and then would probably go to one of the teen hangouts after for pizza. Since both her parents worked late and trusted her, she didn't have a curfew on the weekends as long as she was safe and had her homework done.
Carrie always felt bad when she lied to her parents but the chance to go to a party was something that could raise their social standing at school. So, she'd gone over to Amelia's right after school and together the three girls had prepared for their night. Amelia's mother was what the girls termed a dress-a-holic and had an entire room in their house set up with just skirts, dresses and tops for different types of occasions. She often let the girls raid the room so when they had prepared for their night they each looked for something that suited them.
Carrie, while wanting to make an impression, didn't want to dress like some of the girls they knew would so had gone with a simple white silk dress with silver threading. The skirt of it fell a few inches above her knee and fanned out which meant she would be able to move without fighting with some skin tight dress. That was more Amelia's area, but as they all got ready, her hair was simply feathered back.
All three of the girls took turns in the bathroom taking a shower and doing their touch up shaving. Carrie's mom had raised her to be a firm believer that the only hair a woman should have was on her head. She had been taught that the rest just led to bad hygiene so she was very careful at all times to keep everything bare.
When they were all ready, Carrie drove them to the house where the party was taking place and the girls went in to have fun. At first Carrie had considered not drinking at all but she was so certain of herself and her ability to make good decisions that she decided one couldn't hurt. Over the course of the next couple of hours she consumed four drinks and was nursing her fifth when her friends decided they were ready to go.
Carrie felt she must have been fine since she had driven them home without incident, she dropped off Diana first and then Amelia before she had to head out down Old Mill Road which was quite a long stretch often with little traffic to go to her house. A few times she saw the lines on the road blur just before she turned onto the road with a turn that was a little too wide and for a moment she found herself swerving.
Righting herself, she reached for the radio and was about to turn it on when the flashing red and blue lights caught her attention behind her. "Oh shit," she muttered and as soon as there was a space on the road where she could pull off without still being in the middle of the road, she pulled over. She was in so much trouble if she got a ticket.
Climbing out of the car, she stumbled a little bit feeling a bit woozy, apparently the alcohol hadn't had the chance to kick in before she left the party but was now. "I"m sorry officer, please don't right me a ticket, please?" She immediately began to plead as she saw him walking toward her, her eyes watering. This was her first time ever drinking and she hadn't expected the effects to creep up on her.
There were only five houses on this road, each was set back a distance from the road itself and mostly surrounded by trees. Even where she pulled over was often just a section to the side with trees around it that was used to turn around if someone was lost or missed a turn. The only light came from the moon, her headlights and tail lights and the cops car.
