Amber brooks was looking forward to being a camp counselor,it wasn't her 1st year being one at this particular camp but this year she was meeting someone. She stepped off the bus, chewed on her lower lip she didn't normally ride the camp bus but this year she was higher on the chain then she had been before. Her heart pounded against her chest, her stomach flooded with butterflies because she was extremely nervous. She grabbed her bags, made sure she had them all then started to head toward the cabin she would be sharing with the rest of the female counselors. Eight weeks was a long time but for her it would be a lifetime if her summer romance worked out, she wanted to get her stuff into her cabin before he showed up.​
 
Terrance sat on the bus, twiddling his thumbs and making sure that his music was blaring into his ears. This was his first year working at this particular summer camp, but the pay was good, it offered a free room and most importantly free meals. The campers would arrive the next day, and Terrance made sure that he would be a counselor that people remembered. First and foremost, the kids had to be happy, and secondly, there was a girl at this camp that he was trying to impress. One that he had talked to a few times a few days ago in fact.

After he had set his stuff down, it was time to go to the mess hall, and have their first dinner. There would be a camp meeting, and then they would have free time for the rest of the night. All he wanted to do was find Amber, the girl he had been talking to, maybe he would sit at her table. He would know what she looked like after the opening meeting though. They always played some kind of a name game.
 
Amber got put all her stuff on the twin bed closet to the wall, made her way to the mess hall. She sighed, made sure he hair looked okay then walked inside. Everyone that was already inside was looking at her, she gulped to get rid of the lump in her throat as she smiled. She could see that everyone was in line to get their trays, she did the same. Standing behind a few she knew from previous years she smiled, walked forward as the line moved. She chose a few different items then a bottle of water, paid for it with her camp money then took a seat near the back. Her stomach was churning like crazy, she didn't really feel like eating but she didn't want people to think she was sick or anything so she made sure she ate just a little. Taking a deep breath she twisted the cap off her water bottle, took a few sips as she waited for the meeting to get started.
 
The director of the camp stood before the group of sixteen and smiled. "Thank you all for coming out this year, let's make this a great year for us and for the campers!" He said, much to the excitement of many of the counselors who had been here since they were little children. "You will all be alotted twenty more camp dollars per week, in order to supplement for some kids who spend all of their camp dollars on day one. Use them wisely." He spoke, before he started going into the guidelines and general rule of the camp. For most, the rules were repeats, but for people like Terrance, he was hearing the rules for the first time. Glancing around the room, Terrance realized that he was the only African - American at the camp, and which was odd, but he thought nothing more of it besides that.

Then the director started to get into what's new about the camp. "This year, we have decided to go towards more of a co-ed approach to running the camp. This mean that your respective cabins will have both boys and girls. In response to this, each pair of counselors will have one male and one female counselor." He said in a declarative manner. "I will pair you all up, and the pairs will be your pairs for the rest of the camp. The cabins will rotate every week, but the person you are paired with will be your partner for the rest of the summer." The man said, before he glanced down at his clipboard. He finished going over the basic rules, before he finally got to the pairs.

"And now, the moment you have all been waiting for. Your partners for the rest of the summer." He said, glancing down at the clipboard. "Take the rest of the night to get to know your partner, and figure out what will work well for your pairing. Remember, the camp games start tomorrow, and the pairing with the best teamwork and cohesiveness with get an extra hundred dollars each at the end of the summer. Please sit next to your pair after I read off the names." He said as he started to list off the different pairings. After each pairing, people started to move to sit next to their partner, and the sound of chatter started to fill the mess hall. "And that brings us to the last pair. Obviously you already know, but, Amber Brooks and Terrance Havili" He said as Terrance looked towards Amber. What luck! The girl that he had been talking to was going to be his partner for the rest of the summer. After that, he dismissed the counselors to get to know each other, making sure to inform them to reference the camp's bulletin board to know which cabin to move their stuff in.

Standing, Terrance moved towards Amber, smiling widely. She was more beautiful than the pictures he had seen on her dating profile. "I guess we are partners, eh?" He said to her with a smile. "What luck! I guess we better move out stuff to Tiger Cabin." He said with a laugh.
 
" Yeah. I guess so. My stuff is in kola cabin so we should go there first, get my stuff. I don't have much anyways come on." Amber said as she smiled, stood up throwing away her tray. She put her bottle of water in her purse then started to walk toward the door , she couldn't stop smiling. Her summer was going to be awesome, she liked everything about Terrance. She'd read his profile non stop since they started talking, he was even better looking in person then he was in his picture. If it was just summer fling she would be disappointed, well she hoped it wasn't like that at all.
 
The man smiled. They hadn't had a chance to go on a first date yet, but they had been in almost constant contact since making the account and finding her online. He wondered why she had to make a dating account in the first place, she was pretty and she seemed normal enough, but he supposed that it didn't matter. He also supposed that this was their first date, this first night at camp. The rest of the counselors were running amok, and there they were. Reaching out, he grabbed her hand and took it in his. His hands were warm, and they just meandered at the same place to Kola Cabin, so they could get her stuff and move it to Tiger Cabin. There wasn't much to say for now, he was just enjoying her presence.
 
Amber smiled as she caressed his hand with her thumb, let go when they reached her cabin. '' You can come in, help me if you like.'' She said as she smiled, walked up to the door. Pulling it open she walked inside picked up two of her bags, left the other one for him. She walked back outside, waited patiently trying to remember where Tiger cabin was. It was cool that the cabins were labeled by animals, Tiger cabin was one of the newer ones built so it looked a lot better on the inside then some of the other ones. The reasoning for her making a profile on a dating site was because well she just couldn't find Mr. Right, a friend had told her about a great site for those interested in the types of guys she liked. Amber wasn't like most white girls, it was partially because she was born in Palisades New York but that wasn't why she was interested in someone like Terrance. She was interested in him because he was different, she was sick of all the cliche stuff her parents taught her. As far as she was concerned he didn't look any different then her, he was just a guy she met online that she could see herself spending all summer with.
 
The man followed her closely, grabbing her heaviest bag and slinging it over his shoulder. Still holding her hand, he moved towards Tiger Cabin. It was almost a double edged sword getting Tiger Cabin this early. It was one of the nicer cabins, and it was still pristine after the big cleaning from last summer. Still, it would mean that towards the end of the summer they would have one of the worst cabins. He wondered how quickly she wanted to move, they were already acting as boyfriend-girlfriend, and it was honestly a talk that Terrance was dreading. Maybe he would just go for it, girls seemed to like spontaneity with that sort of stuff. As she set up her stuff in the cabin, he excused himself, running and getting his own bag before returing fairly quickly. Still, Terrance couldn't get over what good luck he had gotten. They still had a few hours to kill before dinner, and another day before the campers arrived. So much time, and Terrance didn't know how to spend it. ..
 
Amber was a little nervous about sharing a cabin with him, she had a feeling it would just be the two of them even though the cabin had at least four double beds in it. They were basically given Tiger cabin as partners, she had a feeling that they wouldn't have any extra room mates. She'd been a camper, then a counselor so she knew the routine of how things went it's just she'd never really been alone with a guy before. '' So um.. What do you wanna do? I mean we've still got at least two or three hours until dinner. So I don't know we could go for a swim or we could just talk, get to know each other a little better.'' The blonde said as she smiled, she was always prepared for anything so she could change into her suite pretty quickly if he liked the swimming idea but if he just wanted to talk she was fine with that to all she knew was that she wanted things to really work out even if it was just a summer fling.
 
Rubbing his head, Terrance picked a bed on the other side of the cabin. Since the camp was going co-ed this year, they had elected to go with one guy and one girl as the heads of the cabins and groups. The routine would still be the same, it would just be mixed instead of one gender. The announcement wasn't meant to be something that was ground breaking, but it did mean that children were exposed to the other gender. It was something that some parents were for, some were against. In truth, Terrance wasnt sure why it was such a big deal, they were in fifth grade right? What was the worst that could happen? If anything, the camper's parents needed to worry about the counselors, especially in a situation like Terrance and Amber.

"I know a pretty good swim spot." He said with a smile. Sure, it was his first time at the camp, but he had done a fair amount of hiking and a fair amount of research before coming here. The spot was perfect. It was secluded and no one would bother them. That was what a newly emerging "couple" needed. Space.
 
'' Alright. I'll get changed, we can walk there together.'' Amber said as she smiled, walked into the bathroom pulling the door closed. She locked the door just for her own reasons, changed into her suite pretty quickly then put her shorts back on. Pulling her shirt back on she tied it just above the waistline of her shorts, walked back out brushing hair back into a semi messy bun as she slid her feet into a pair of flip flops grabbed a towel, put the other half of her clothes in her suitcase. '' I hope you brought trunks..'' She said with a smirk she could be quite the little spitfire when she wanted to be, sometimes she could be the shy girl next door it really depended on who she was around. So this summer Terrance would see all sorts of sides to her, she hoped that he liked them all because she really liked him even if she'd only talked to him online until now.
 
While it was his first time at this particular camp, Terrance had been a camper and a camp counselor before. He had picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. One of them, was always wear swim trunks underneath your clothes. While she moved and changed, all he needed to do was grab a towel. Slinging it over his shoulder, he waited for her to get out of the bathroom before he smiled and took her hand once again. It was odd, they were already acting like they were in a relationship yet this was the first time he had even talked to her face to face, let alone seen her. Walking out, he started to lead her down a long and windy path in the middle of the woods. They had to step over some logs, walk over a make-shift bridge, as well as cut through some rougher areas to get to the swim site, but the sound of the water was getting louder and louder as they made their way there.

After quite a long hike, they finally made it to the spot. There was a waterfall that fed water into the tiny pool. The water as clear so you could see all the way to the bottom, and while it looked super shallow, fact was it was really deep. Tall trees surrounded the rest of the little pond, and it was almost completely secluded. Hell, maybe when they got to know each other a little better, this could be the spot that they went to make out or do other fun stuff.

"So, what do you think?" He asked her with a smile, before he started to strip down in front of her. Taking his camp t-shirt off, revealing that he was pretty cut, he showed off his muscles to her for a second, before he unbuttoned his jeans and took them off as sexily as he could, putting on a bit of a show for her. He was left in his red swim trunks after he kicked his shoes off. If only he had thought ahead and made a picnic lunch or something for them. It would have to wait until next itme.
 
'' It's nice.. I like it.'' Amber said as she untied her shirt threw it to the ground sliding her feet out of her flip flops, she unbuttoned her shorts revealing her pink bikini that actually accentuated her curves a little more. She pulled her hair a little tighter gave him a quick glance licked her lips then walked toward the dock after making sure it was deep enough she got into a diving position then dove into the water. '' You Coming? '' The blonde asked as she looked up at the man she was hopping to really get to know over the summer, she was pretty sure she was already falling in love with him. She swam a few feet away from the dock, stayed with in range so he could still see her actually amazed that she had beat him to the water. The blonde was a water bug she loved the water, had started taking swimming lessons when she was five so she was very good at the sport.
 
It was sort of odd that she was able to get into the water before him, but he was probably just staring at her beautiful form in her pink bikini. He wanted to just put his lips on her right then and there, but he didn't want to squander the progess he had seemed to make with her. The dock was rickety to say the least, the wood was old and rotting as well as a little creaky. Terrance was afraid to run on it, so he made his way carefully down the dock to the water. He wasn't near as graceful as she was, far from it in fact, but still, he slipped into the water. The wave of cold washed over his body, and his arms instinctively moved to his body. It didn't help, but it was habit. It wasn't like he was a bad swimmer, he just didn't particularly care for the cold. Kicking off of the dock, Terrance made his way to her, just wanting to get his hands on her once more. . .
 
Amber smiled when she realized how close he was to her, she tried really hard to avoid kissing him. She'd just met him, although they had talked online for months she was still a little nervous about certain things. '' So this is nice.'' The blonde said as she laid back, just floated around the lake with her hands at her side she just kicked her feet. She had to admit the water was cold but it wasn't to cold besides it warmed up after awhile, it was summer so the weather was perfect. The sun wouldn't set for another few hours so they had plenty of time, then of course they were alone in the cabin. It wasn't like they had a curfew or anything well they did because they had to set a good example for the kids, that meant acting like they were just working together while entertaining the children.
 
Even though this was the first time with her, it was almost like he knew her too well. The online chats gave him a lot of information, her favorite movie, her favorite color, her favorite animal, some of her biggest tragedies, some of her secrets. The only thing he didn't know about her was what was going through her mind right now. As she floated off on her back, the man smiled as he swam to catch up to her. His body was finally used to the frigid waters, and he could swim to his heart's content now. They still had a day until the students arrived, and when the students were in bed, they were free to do whatever they wanted. They just had to make sure that they students didn't get into trouble and that whatever they did didn't affect their work the next morning. As he finally caught up to her, he smiled. Putting his hand on her arm so that he could swim with her.

"Can you believe it, no one knows about this spot. We can do whatever we want here." He said with a slight inflection in his voice. He was attracted to her, she knew that. It was just a matter of when he was going to spring the first move probably. He was thinking that that time was probably going to be pretty soon.
 
" Yeah I know it's great. I'm really glad you cam here. " Amber said as she smiled feeling him touch her arm made her shiver just slightly because no one had ever touched her except for the doctors the day she was born but that didn't count least she didn't think it did, she couldn't really remember all the stuff she'd told him when they were chatting but she was pretty sure it was quite a lot. She was positive that if she had never checked out the website she would have never met him, now it was just a matter of time before someone made he first move weather it was her or him.
 
The man nodded when she said she was glad that he had showed up, and he smiled at her when she shivered. He wasn't sure if she was just cold of if she just liked what he was doing. He was going to kiss her, right then and there, but he thought about it for a second. Running it over in his head, he wondered if she would even want him to. It felt like they were pretty close already, but if something were to happen to the two of them, the rest of the summer would be crappy, seeing how they were each other's partners for the rest of the summer.

Thinking about it even more, they were almost out of things to talk about. They had exchanged pleasentries and now they were just swimming. He really did weight the consequences, and after awhile, he decided to just say fuck it. Grabbing her hand and pulling her towards him, he leaned down with her still on her back in the water, and he connected their lips for the first time, though he hoped it wouldn't be the last time.
 
Amber's heart stopped when he kissed her well not literally it just beat at a steady pace, she manged to make it easier for him by standing on her feet once she was done floating. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed him back, slid her tongue along his lower lip as it begged for entrance. In that moment she knew that her summer was going to be a good one, she really hoped that it wouldn't be just a summer fling because she really liked him. She'd never actually given anyone else a chance well that wasn't entirely true she'd given a few guys a shot but they failed to impress her, Terrance was certainly something different. It didn't bother her that his skin was a different color, she didn't care what her parents would think knowing their views on interracial dating. She focused on the matter, smiled into the kiss as her heart thumped against her chest slowly.
 
They were in a different time and a different part of the country. To most, a black man dating a white woman or vice versa wasn't that big of a deal. Here, it was a huge deal. There were always news reports of lynchings, public beatings, angry mobs and the like. Still, Terrance pushed that from the back of his mind. Moving his hands to her hips, he smiled as her tongue tried to enter his mouth. He would flip the script on her though, and while her tongue was running across the bottom of his lip, his tongue found and opening to get into her mouth. Fact of the matter was, she was the best tasting thing he had ever had the pleasure to know. The cold water helped his heart maintain a steady pace, and the two just stood in the water, feeling each other out, in more way than one. His hand moved to her face, brushing some of the wet hair out of it, and his eyes closed just savoring the moment.

She was aware of the instances where a relationship like her's was truly frowned upon, she wanted to change that because she believed everyone was equal. To her nothing about him was different, she was going to prove to society she could make it work weather her parents or friends agreed with her. She wanted her summer fling to be more then just a fling, she really hoped that by the end of the summer they could move in together or even take a trip together as a couple. Terrance would be her 1st real boyfriend in a really long time, she was mature enough to be ready for the consequences if things got extra steamy for them while they were swimming or once they got back to the cabins.
