She woke up to the sound of her mother moving around her bedroom. Even now, things didn't change. Her mother didn't think it necessary to give her privacy as was due to a guest in her house. But she was her mother's daughter, so she didn't expect much privacy to be given - even now. Morgan turned over in the bed at the same time her mom pulled back the curtains, baring her to the sun's onslaught.
She groaned and turned over, pulling the pale blue comforter over her head and groaning out an irritated sound at her mother, who grinned. "It's time for you to get up. It's almost ten and the reunion starts at twelve...in case you forgot."
Morgan exhaled heavily beneath the comforter, hiding her distaste at having to go. She'd rather staying in, away from people she knew she wouldn't recognize. And she wasn't particularly in a sociable mood today.
But her mother didn't care about that, and Morgan doubted she'd care if she knew anyway. She pulled the comforter from her daughter and peered down at her. "Get up, come downstairs and help me finish up cooking the rest of stuff. John's going to be here in a few."
Morgan blinked up at her. "John?"
"Yes, your brother." The woman added for extra measure, giving her daughter a quizzical look.
Morgan nodded and smiled a little, her mood somewhat alleviated by that bit of news. She hadn't seen John in years. Besides phone conversations, she hadn't had much contact with him and it would be good to see him again. She had felt like an only child living with her parents - which hadn't been too bad; more attention and gifts for her. It would be great seeing him again; even though she felt somewhat unnerved by the entire prospect.
She went to shower and tidied her room then met her mom downstairs to help with the cooking and baking. Her father was outside setting up the barbecue and two of her cousins and some family friends were already there to set up outside.
