Gen woke up early that morning absolutely exhausted. She hadn’t slept well the night before, trying to finish the 3 parchments worth of potions homework. Snape could be a real asshole, of course the slytherins were always cut a break. With his hatred focused on Potter, Granger and Wealsey though, he didn’t really notice her. Even with her grades only being second best to Hermione, the professors didn’t really notice her existence. Ginny was even recognized more than she was, because of her relation to Ron. Really though, she didn’t mind not being noticed. The slytherins liked to torment the gryffindors and the more invisible one was, the less likely they were to be picked on. For Gen the only thing that really sucked, was the fact that she had dark red hair. Everyone’s first comment when they met her was to ask if she was related to the Weasleys. Ginny got a kick out of it though and would often hook her arm through Gen’s and say they were sisters. That always got everyone confused and the pair would walk off laughing together. Truly, Ginny was one of Gen’s only friends, even if most of the time Ginny spent it with the trio. This year though, most of the trio was missing due to it being Ginny’s and Gen’s sixth year. When Ginny wasn’t busy trying to cuddle up to Hermione, since that girl was pissed off as hell at the other two boys, she was busy with Quidditch. Gen had more time to study and work on school work than she had in the last five years in Hogwarts.
Gen rolled out of her bed with a loud groan and headed towards the bathrooms to shower. She was starving and wanted to be clean quick. Most of the sixth year girls had already headed down to the Great Hall and she was just getting into the shower. She knew Ginny would be there, trying to calm down one of Hermiones latest rants about how horrible it was that Ron and Harry had just left her at Hogwarts. With a roll of her eyes, she dropped her pj’s and slipped into the steaming warmth of a bath. There was no doubt in her mind that if her grades kept up like they had been, she’d be head girl next year. That was as long as there was still a Hogwarts to attend, bastard Voldemort. He was destroying everything for half-bloods and muggle-borns. Lucky for Gen, most didn’t even know she was a half-blood. She spent most of her life with her father, a pureblood in the wizarding world. In the summers, she would go and stay with her muggle mother. They had met when her father was a young wizard and instantly fell in love. Not long after, Gen was born and the strain of not being able to truly use magic started to hurt her father. They started fighting frequently and violently, till they agreed that splitting up was the best decision. The final decision that they needed to make was where Gen was going to be for most of the time. Within day’s she showed her first signs of magic and was sent off to be with her father. So the only ones who truly knew of her lineage was the professors and her own close friend Ginny. When anyone asked her how she knew so much about muggles, she merely explained Ginny was fascinated.
Once Gen was finally clean enough, she stepped out of her bath and swirled her wand to dry herself off. Her hair fell perfectly and she changed into her school robes, hating how the uniform felt on her body. They were heavy and could be considered constricting for movements, so if she needed to fight someone, she was a bit disadvantaged. Luckily for her, most of the time, she didn’t really fight anyone. By the time she made her way down to the Great Hall, breakfast was nearly over and she was annoyed. She really should have set her alarm to have gone off earlier than what she had planned. Now she’d have to scarf her food down and hope not to be late to her first class. Just as she walked through the door of the Great Hall, a crash sounded. A few younger year Hufflepuffs were currently being teased mercilessly by a group of slytherins. It appeared no one was going to be helping the young ones since Hermione and Ginny were gone and most didn’t bother. She attempted to ignore the cruelty and went to sit down, when she saw one of them throw up a slug. It was disgusting how they were being treated and the little girl was starting to cry. With a groan and a grunt, she dropped her bag onto the Gryffindor table, looked around at who was left and ignoring the situation and began to stalk over there. “Hey knock it off, leave them alone boys.” She snarled at the slytherin’s who barely even glanced at her and went back to their play toys. Shaking her head, she whipped her wand out and pressed it against one of the boys back neck. “I said leave them alone, or couldn’t you hear me you dim witted corn snake?” She knew calling the boy by such a demeaning name would catch his attention. It did just that and as he turned around to look at her, she smiled a wicked grin. “Did that catch your attention?” If one were to look at the scene, they’d be either amused or astonished. She was a 5’ foot nothing staring up at this 5’10 man as if he was beneath her.
