â??Our worlds are connected, for better or for worse... The War comes, and the new Walkers are chosen. You will be mine... to train... to show the Way to the Dawn.â?
His words hung between us, I couldnâ??t understand what he meant, but like before the pieces slowly clicked into place. I felt my eyes widen, as I slowly began to understand what was happening. â??The worlds are connected?â? I whispered softly. My words hung in the air, and now it appeared as if he was the one that couldnâ??t understand. Suddenly he did though, and he nodded.
â??They are connected, for better or for worse... The War is coming... ah.. fellow Twilight Walker.... your Journey is not easy.â?
I knew of the road he spoke of, I had researched it. I had played Sora, following the path of his friends, I knew what the Road of Twilight, where it lead, how hard it was. I didnâ??t know that I would be one to walk such a path now. I didnâ??t know if I was strong enough, I didnâ??t know if I could last. This was all a dream, right? I stared up, trying to understand, his words hanging between us. â??Light and Dark... intwined.. twilight... the time between.... â?? I whispered.
â??You understand... good.... now... Tenshi... wake up..â?
Angelica awakened in a sweat, the dream had come back to her. As it had haunted her every night for the last month. She had it several years ago, when she was young and impressionable. The game character, speaking to her like that. But why had the dream returned, detail for detail... word for word? His words echoed in her mind. Wake up...Wake up, that soft velvety tone rolling through the woman and making her body feel alive. She shivered as she rubbed her hands on her arms. She had been seventeen, almost eighteen when she had experienced that dream for the first time. Now she was a woman of twenty, nearing twenty-one.
A lot happened in that kind of time frame. Besides, he was just a game character, simple as that. He didn't exist, did he? Sometimes she doubted that, sometimes she felt that her mind connected to other realities and planes... when she slumbered.
She threw her legs out of the bed and stretched, a storm was raging outside. She could hear the rain pelting her windows. She cracked the curtains and felt a chill race over her. Something wasn't right. That much was certain, the female just felt it in her bones. She frowned faintly, and then slipped on her shoes. She opened her bedroom door, and walked to the backdoor. She cracked it open, and slammed it shut. What she had seen, had caused her blood to run cold. It was a scene out of a game, one she had played almost religiously at one point and time.
Darkness everywhere, consuming everything. She tried to think of what to do, this had to be a nightmare! This couldn't be really happening!
She ran around the kitchen, trying to figure out what to do. Her attention turned towards the door again, and then to the closet of her cosplay weaponry. Best not try it, she would probably fail. With that thought in mind she opened the door again, best to face her fears right?
As this thought crossed her mind, the darkness washed over her. Fear slammed through her, for a few moments. Then she realized the sensation of welcome, coming from the darkness. She pushed towards that, and felt like she was falling. Through the looking glass, an odd sort of Alice-esque experience. She felt like she fell forever, and then Angelica landed.
She landed hard, her right shoulder popping in such a way that pain lanced through her body and sparked across her vision. "Fuuuuck!" The curse rolled from her lips as she stood up. Around her stood three doors; One with a Sun, One with a Moon, and One with nothing on it. She frowned as she looked at these doors. She was drawn to the plain one, and so she approached it. Her hand opening the door as a hand shoved her through it.
Angelica whirled around, brown hair filling her vision as she turned to meet her attacker. But the door was gone, and before her was three choices; a Sword, a Shield, and a Wand. She went with instinct again, picking up the blade, giving away the shield and taking up the wand as her secondary. It was like a freaking video game, if it was a dream she might as well roll with it.
After her choices were made, a chuckling was heard from behind her. Once again, something that she recognized. She frowned as she opened her mouth to say his name, nothing resulted. She stopped and blinked.
"Welcome, New Twilight Walker, Welcome."
That voice made shivers roll up and down her spine, once again she tried to speak, nothing was the result.
"Don't bother speaking, you are blocked from it. Welcome to this realm, and now it is time to send you one. Find them, before they find you."
That voice taunted her, and then she felt another falling sensation, as the stain glass beneath her seemed to fade away. She realized she was falling, and as she fell her clothes melted away like feathers, replaced with new clothes. Odd how these kinds of worlds work, odd indeed. She seemed more at peace with her mind, when in reality she knew she should be freaking out.
She felt her hair get braided, to a now mid-back length braid. Her clothes faded replaced with clothes that were apparently more useful in these worlds. Large black pants, with silver accents, a lot of pockets for goddess knows what. Her top was a tank top with the sleeves removed, and fishnet attached in place of the sleeves and for everything below her ribcage. There was also a fishnet hood, that also had the option of a full clothed hood as well. Large boots were on her feet, she noticed this as she realized she was falling head first towards water.
The wind whipped around her as she watched the scene, memories floating through her. But then streaking away like fireflies from her being. Little crystals scattering on the wind. Memories, being given away in trade for the ability to traverse worlds. Everything came with a cost...
The sound of water exploding outward filled the air, as the woman hit the water.
