Osteogenesis Imperfecta. That's what the disease was called that Milena "Lena" had been suffering from ever since she was a toddler. It made growing up a bit difficult because she couldn't go out for the sports in school and often had to sit on the sidelines. She would have gladly become a cheerleader but there was too much risk. Even with the treatments the most she could really focus on was dancing but she had to be careful.
Of course, that never kept Lena from enjoying her life as much as she could and now that she was sixteen, she was still just as full of life as she had been before. Every two weeks she had to blow off her friends though and go to the doctor. Her parents had stopped coming with her, she was old enough to go on her own and she trusted both doctors.
So, just like every other week it was Tuesday and she was due for her treatment. She followed the nurse back into the examination room, as usual the last patient of the day. The nurse told her it was also time for her full exam so she changed out of her clothes and got into the hospital gown. By the time the doctor would come in, she was laying on the small exam table, the gown covering her just barely, her legs hanging off the table.
In one ear an earpiece played music from her Ipod while she kept glancing toward the door waiting to see which doctor she would have today. When the door finally opened and she saw the younger one walk in, she blushed. It would be the first time that he had given her the exam. Usually he just gave her the treatment which was a small shot near her spine. "Good afternoon," she greeted with a warm smile.
