Mark stopped in front of the door to his house, and scratched his head as he looked at the envelope taped onto it. It was addressed to him by name instead of house address, with an imperative 'Read Me!' written on it as well. He reached out to pull the envelope off the door, tore open the top, and took out the letter inside. Mark quickly read it over, with his eyebrows rising higher and higher to his forehead as he did so. The letter was from one of his clients from his business-consultant job, who was apparently very grateful for how Mark helped him keep his struggling business and get it back on the map before it was bought out. Apparently, he had decided to give Mark a very special surprise gift of some kind, which was waiting for him inside his house thanks to enlisting the aid of Mark's sister.
Mark blinked and stared at the letter for a few moments after finishing it, then shrugged and unlocked his door to step into the house. It was a decent size and well-furnished, Mark had a stable financial situation. Mark passed by a mirror, briefly glancing at his own face as if to make sure everything was there. He was a man of average height with a slim build, a tidy head of brown hair, and amber eyes. He walked through his house until he got to his living room, then saw the box.
It was a very big box, wider than he was and just as tall. It was made of ordinary brown cardboard, with stamps and warnings on it about "Fragile!" and "Live Cargo!". Mark hesitated. Had his client gotten him an animal of some kind? Mark wasn't exactly wanting or prepared to care for a pet...
But even so, he had to open it and figure out what it was before he could decide what to do with it. So, Mark retrieved a razor, and went up to the box to cut it open. As he did so, he noticed a key taped to the side, which he grabbed and pocketed before continuing to cut a side of the box away. Once he finished, he pulled the side away to let light flood into the box, to reveal a barred metal cage and illuminate its occupant. Mark couldn't help but gasp slightly at what he saw.
