History- Aedan grew up in the North, in the Runegard city Giant's Bones. Myth said that the stone walls were actually giants' bones from a time long gone. An orphan, Aedan grew up via a mixture of determination, smooth talking, and luck. Once he was old enough, it became easier to get what he needed by seducing women, especially if their men attacked him. His speed, agility, and precision, along with the mocking taunts that drove his opponents into a rage, allowed him to win most fights.
When the now Emperor Wodan began gathering his forces to take control of Ralaster, Aedan was 16, and living with a very willing witch. As an orphan, Aedan had no one willing to protect him from the Emperor's drafting policies. It was only a short stint in the infantry (being able to ride a horse with dignity, let alone fight on one, is one of the few troubles he has when mixing with 'polite' society) that he was noticed by the Emperor's intelligence division. Being among those who fought with agility and skill, instead of power and endurance, would almost always stick out among Northmen. His habit of bedding the women he widowed did not go unnoticed either.
The intelligence division found him to be an apt pupil, and assassinations were usually handled well. Making the women he left behind into sex slaves or turncoats was only a bonus in his commander's eyes. The short three years that the war between Runegard and Ralaster were usually quite active for Aedan, spying when he wasn't killing. This period ended quite well for Aedan, as did the war when Emperor Wodan won.
The year since the Fall of Ralaster has not been as kind. The rebellion has done much better than expected, and despite the wealth of information that the Dragon's Eye division had. The Queen of Ralaster's rebellion has been far more effective than the King's army ever was, so far. Aedan has quietly mused that the war would still be going on, if the Queen had been in charge. Still, Aedan's abilities and habits have not waned or been useless. And now he has been summoned by the Emperor himself for a task...
