"Keep running!" He screams urgently, to her, his companion, his teacher, friend and above all someone he cared about.... The only thing he had that remained of civilization up to this moment in time. Things seemed to be perfectly fine at first when they first arrived to the Amazonian Jungles of South America. It was supposed to be a simple session of 'taking inventory' or rather just studying the wildlife, as biologists do. Luka knew that, he came out here for that reason; to study wildlife, go home, and that was it... Luka himself was a bit of a girly boy, or at least he was a dependable timid boy, despite him being already in his twenties. He was quite reserved it not quite cautious due to the fact that he knew from experience the immense dangers of 'gambling'.
Though he originally had wanted to stay longer, he acknowledged the fact that it may have been too dangerous in the jungles of the amazon. They weren't trailblazers, though they knew of the wildlife, the poisonous plants as well as the warning signs of a few predators, they had never gone full-throttle out into the wild with minimal to no outside support. Every sense in his body told him not to go, to instead stay home... However, instead he followed his boss, or rather his higher up, a young but experienced biologist named Claire, Claire Venweil. A seasoned biologist...or rather an over-zealous but...attractive woman. She was quite the passionate woman when it came down to her work. From what he remembered she had an unusual fascination with animals, and the concept of evolution, she never truly explained why, but she found an utter thing of mystery in attempting to predict further steps in the evolutionary process for some species. Of course she never wasted money on such endevours, she sketched her predictions, making predictions on what a creature may look like in several millenia. Still it was because of her that they were stuck in here in the first place, well lost. He hated the idea of coming out here, he was frightened of it all... Reading about it in a book was childs play but he didn't do field work, he worked in a lab, but Claire had persuaded him into going with her... How? Needless to say, she was one who always got her way... Him being too nice and too innocent for sex appeal, she used the tender approach. He was suckered into it and now, they were lost... Apparently coming out to the jungle was for a good cause...but she had neglected to tell him what 'good cause' it was... Why? He didn't know. He tried asking her, but she didn't respond, if not she just avoided his question in general...
He was a man of science... Despite him not entirely looking like a man, he believed in the scientific method and all else that great men and women believed in to make innovations in the scientific world... Even so, while here and when he was talking to locals before they embarked into the jungles, they told him some interesting stories of creatures in the forests...
The Giant Water Serpent...Wekufe...and the most prominent of them all, banshee, which were often associated to the Amazons of the Rainforests, honestly the idea of amazons was ridiculous, it was impossible, because...in a society with no men...How would the next generation be born? That was the biggest hole in the legend. The most obvious, if not the most often times ignored...Still, getting back on topic, they were lost.
To make a long story short, in the middle of their wandering, they stumbled upon some tapirs grazing and eating merrily by themselves... However around that time... A mammoth jaguar had appeared snarling at the tapirs scaring them off. It was huge, much larger than the measurments of the average jaguar... A fearsome possibly two or three meters tall in height, and several meters long... Had they discovered a new species? If they hadn't left their tranquilizers back at camp...where ever that was now, this would be such a fascinating moment. Still they were being hunted and on instinct they had started to run, of course deeper into the jungles following the rivers. Luka being leaner was able to run much faster, Claire was no slug either, however the jaguar was closing in....so then..this would how it would end eh? The meal of a jaguar... The trees started to look different...some of them were out of place, like the vast amount of pines and oak that often appeared within the jungles plant life and even then, the jungles plants started to change if not look much more alien than mere exotic plants, they were...going to die..
