Lance sighed and he growled a bit as he watched the recruits working hard in the sparring grounds but each man was just doing so horrible in his eyes. Lance was a wolf, an anthro like many of the men in the field sparring, hell most were human. The thing was this was a human kingdom, ruled by a very powerful and wise king who knew that uniting the anthros and the humans in his kingdom would bring in much more than if one group kept the other back through racism. Lance was the main example of this, well one of them, he was an anthro yet he was captain of the royal guard here at the palace. He was a knight, he had a high position, hell some anthros had made it to higher spots, like lords and dukes.

Lance stepped forward and like most of his race he wore very little, it helped with their athletics and their strength to not be overencombered by useless armor when their speed and their natural abilities made them much deadlier than in full armor like humans. He wore a simple loincloth and had armor made from hardened leather and had a steel plate on the fronts of each though nothing on his feet or his thighs really. his arms were more covered, having protection on practically the whole area of each arm and on his shoulders, again his hands were mostly free but they had special hand armor, almost like that of a gauntlet that made his natural claw-like hands have nice sharp steel atachments. His body was covered with a steel breastplate and some criss-crossing leather belts that protected his abs from danger. He wore nothing on his head to show off the wolf features and his tail was unguarded and his main weapon of choice, the halberd, was seen clutched in his right hand with the blade pointing to the ground as he stepped forward toward the sparring knights, the other piece of armor he had, a small steel buckler on his left arm had the signia of the royal family to show he was one of the royal guard.

But because of his lack of armor people were able to see his true self, and he was quite an impressive specimen for a wolf. He was around 6 feet in height and was built rather well, seeming to be built with more muscletone than others of his exact race. But also another interesting thing, two actually were his fur and eye color. His fur was a brilliant silver color, a very rare trait for his kind and his eyes were a blue that almost seemed to dark to be natural. He was called the silver reaper on the battlefield, and people said that his eyes reflected the waters of the river styx... the legendary river which a boatman ferries souls to the underworld. Lance growled out as the knights kept messing up and he yelled 'men ATTENTION!" he growled as he walked between the men and he looked back and forth at each 'We are the royal guard right? Then learn the basics and actually try to show some strength... we are not common footsoldiers... now try again" he said as he then signaled for them to continue sparring.

King Leopold was his name a man who'd found treating anthros with respect and warmth served him better then treating them like common slave. Now not many of the other kings approved but they couldn't object to his decision after all it was his kingdom. He was a portly old man with dark green eyes and wavy gray hair that was always tied back to give accent to his facial structure, much like his daughter Princess Nadia's his pride and joy.

She was a slender thing with dark brown hair and almond shaped green eyes, just like her fathers. Generally she could be found dressed in simple gowns and studying out in the garden. Occasionally the servants would spot her starring out onto the practice field and watching the soilders with a sort of rapt fasination. Her long graceful legs tucked beneath her. Nadia was also tall for her age standing at almost 5'9" with proud breasts and hips just wide enough to sustain carrying a child.

Today was no diffrent then usual the Princess sat on her window seat, thick brown hair braided over one shoulder as she watched the soilder practice. However she was more focused on the Captain of the Gaurd Lance, the proud wolf that had become such an admirable character to her father. He seemed mean when one watched him with the other soilders but truely he wasn't. She'd seen him comforting a child of one of the maids after being punished. A small male racoon. Perhaps it was something of a childhood crush but she truely did admire him and soon she'd be spending more time with him. He'd been assigned to gaurd her from harm since the three attempted assinations of her father. She was to finally meet him in person after he finished training this set of gaurds.

Lance gave a soft sigh as he figured it was good enough and he then told the soldiers to just go to their posts, that training was done. Lance then sighed as he nodded and he gave a small salute to the soldiers out of just general respect and he then headed back into the castle. In truth he was liking the idea of personal guard in some ways but he also worried that it would mean he was no longer the captain. He had no reason to doubt the king's decision but it still felt a little weird.

Lance headed up the large stairways as he soon was right outside her door. He headed over and gently knocked on the door with his free left hand "Princess it is me Lance, I am here to begin my post as guard" he said as he then turned around to have his back to the door. He did not know if she would come to the door or not, but either way he just moved to keep himself at his post. The halberd was at attention in his hand as he just sighed and figured he would just relax and keep guard.
