After months of talking over the internet and hiding behind the screen name 'DuckieLee', Jessica was getting a chance to cross the country and visit one of her better friends. They had never met face to face, only over hours of webcam conversations and even longer chats and texts. It's been almost a year since they first met in that random meet-up chat room. Fate was a stupid way to think of it, as that had nothing to do with it, but Jessica had been holding her breath for a good while that the two would be able to meet. And between the gift of a ticket from her grandmother and a bit of funds from her friend, Jessica finally made her way across the country to see the man she had hoped to see for so long.
Between the webcam and a good barrage of pictures, the pair knew each other better than others who lived around Jess. It was a long trip, over 5 hours of sitting on a plane, but Jess had slept through most of it, ignoring the time zone change and the annoying child sitting behind her. Thanks to the pounding beats in her ears and the slight recline of her hair, the entire trip went far better than she had planned it to. And with no problems going through security, she began her massive rain of text messages.
'Hey'
'Hey'
'Guess who landed'
'This guy. Yeaaah'
The twenty year old woman wasn't exactly dressed to show off, wearing a pair of jeggings, loose fitting black and white striped sweater and a pair of traditional black, high top sneakers, straight from the Converse shelves. Nothing fancy, but the five-foot-six Jessica wasn't one to look to impress people on a plane ride. No wearing heels for her. She heard a rant once about women who wear heels who had popped the safety rafts for others on the crashed plane. She really didn't want to have that weight on her shoulders if that sort of thing were to happen. Obviously it hadn't though, so that must have been a 'sign'.
Bad side to traveling like a hobo? Well Jess always looked amazing on webcam, typically because she had just come home from work or school, so of course she looked better. And with a little refreshing before hand, she looked great. But now, she had only bothered to put on minimal make up, just for an extra flair for her friend but hadn't thought to put a lot of effort into her looks. That wouldn't be a problem, as she looked just as good without make up, but she still wasn't at her best.
And so, there she was, pulling her suit case behind her with a backpack hanging loosely off her shoulders and her purse-like sidepack sitting at her hip. Through security... through the food court-style city... and out into the pick up area where she began to scan for her friend before tapping at her phone.
'I'm the one who looks like a jet lagged mess. Seriously, your time zone will fuck me up'
