Steven Masters had lived out the last fifteen years of his life in a comfortable home with his dad. Though he realized that his parents must have divorced somewhere down the line, he didn't really bother asking his father too many questions about his mother because of the emotions that would have been brought up, and his father rarely talked about his estranged ex-wife. He had vague recollections of another baby from when his family was still together, but at this point in his life, he couldn't really be sure whether it had been his imagination or if he actually had a baby sister or brother somewhere out there in the world.
Everything else in Steven's life was rather stable, and now that his high school career was about to end, he was looking forward to summer and the college life that would follow it. Of course with graduation coming up so soon, there would of course have to be a senior party for everyone to have fun one more time before they all went their separate ways. Though he wasn't exactly close friends with the person who was hosting the party, he still knew her well enough to be friendly, and this wasn't an exclusive party by any means as ALL seniors were invited. In fact, it wasn't uncommon for some non-seniors to be there as well, and as he arrived at the party to see some less familiar faces, Steven knew that there at least a handful of juniors at the party as well.
This party wasn't a "fancy" one by any means, and a lot of the guys simply wore jeans and t-shirts, or at the most perhaps some flannels or button ups. Steven was in the latter group who wore a simply gray button up shirt with dark jeans. Of course, many of the girls had decided to dress up a bit nicer with some in dresses and skirts, but there was a definite number who were also comfortable enough in jeans and t-shirts as well. Steven wasn't particularly fond of drinking, mostly because he didn't like the taste and because he wasn't keen on the idea of losing control of himself while intoxicated. Most of the attendees of the party didn't really have his reservations, so as the night wore on, Steven noticed that a lot of his friends were getting either rowdier or more sedate as the effects of the alcohol got to them. As much as he loved them, he wasn't a fan of dealing with drunk people either. As he made his way through the large house looking for somewhere quiet to sit back and relax, he noticed a girl standing alone by a couch with what looked to him like just a cup of water. Not only did she look to be in full control of her mental faculties unlike some of his friends, he also thought she was rather cute too, so he decided to make his way over to make some friendly conversation.
"You're not a senior are you?" he asked as he approached her, a smile on his face and cup of soda in his hand. "Because I'm pretty sure that I would have known everyone in my own class by now, that is, unless you're from another school. I'm Steven by the way. What's your name?" he added as he stuck his hand out for a hand shake.
