Beep .. beep ... beep ....
The annoying noise caused the nineteen year old female to groan. "Five more minutes ... " She murmured weakly, her hand fumbling around before it finally found the source, her alarm clock. After managing to hit the "Snooze" button, weary green eyes slowly opened up. And as more of the young lady began to regain consciousness and fully wake up more, it caused her to sit upright quickly in her bed. " ... Oh hell .... is .. today ... ?!"
Sure enough, as her green hues caught the calendar beside her and noted the date, then the room she was in, she pushed herself quickly out of bed. To be more exact, her dorm bedroom.
Today was the first day of college and Elena had worked so damn hard to be accepted into the University of Houston. It had been a close call, she almost hadn't gotten accepted though not due to grades. No, Elena had all but ensured those wouldn't be able to haunt or ruin her. The University had gotten very close to being able to take in the maximum amount of students. And after quite the amount of begging, she had managed to convince the Dean to let her be the last one to be able to attend the massive college.
Her feet had been guiding her into the shower and on the way over, she tossed off her pajamas. By the time Elena arrived, she was fully nude and ready to step in. Once the water was at the right temperature, she got in, the water beginning to cascade along her body.
Green eyes slowly closed as a low sigh passed her lips. The road to having been able to come here had been very long, tedious, and exhausting. But it'd definitely been worth it. There were, of course, a few small regrets and mistakes that the teenager had made during high school. But the worst, by far, was tossing her innocence away to make certain she could be allowed in here.
Even to this day, she had no idea how she'd gotten away with it. But Elena had been able to sleep with her Geometry teacher. The subject had just been so damn infuriating! And she truly had tried to get tutoring after school, help from classmates and the teacher, but nothing had seemed to work. So out of desperation, she begged for any easy route to get an A, to allow her to pass.
The answer had been to sleep with the teacher. It made her fists clench in annoyance, causing her to wince lowly and snap out of her flashbacks. Her head shook no slowly, bright blonde locks flowing from side to side. "No sense dwelling on that anymore. What's been done is done." She reminded herself, getting to washing her hair and body.
Within thirty minutes - about half the time being used to dry her hair and get dressed - she was in a comfortable pair of jeans and v-neck t-shirt. She snuck a glance down, contemplating on whether to tuck it in or not before deciding against it. This was college and most weren't as strict on dress codes like high schools. It seemed rather ironic, really. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Ah well.
Grabbing the dirty pajamas and tossing them into her hamper, she pulled her backpack out from her closet and went quickly through it. All the necessary binders and books were already inside. Her heart raced as the realization dawned on her. She was really about to start not only college but pursuing her major in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology. Even when prom had came around, she hadn't been quite as excited as she was now.
After a brief but thorough pat-down, Elena felt everything that she needed was there. Keys to her dorm, a shut off cell phone, and her wallet. Yes, wallet. Elena was no doubt one of the few women who actually disliked using purses. Because of that among her overall personality, she'd been viewed as 'weird' throughout her high school. Not that she gave enough of a damn, but it had been noted.
While walking out of her room and through the halls to her first class, she couldn't help but wonder if any of her former classmates had been chosen to attend here as well. Many had spoken of the idea but there was quite the difference in talking about going through something and actually doing it. Anxious but simultaneously eager eyes glanced around for any possible familiar faces.
It felt like forever, but finally she had came to the door for her first class. What Elena had not realized, though, was she had woken up at an ungodly hour. So of course when she tried the door, it was locked. Her cheeks instantly turned a shade of crimson. ".... Lovely. Way to go .. " She murmured, chuckling lowly as she pulled her cell phone, turning it on to use it as a makeshift watch. Within seconds, the time revealed itself as 6:45 AM.
"... That's right, you set it for 5:30. Stupid, stupid, stupid .. " She murmured, sighing at herself as she sat against the wall. Well ... time to play the waiting game, it seemed. She supposed there was one good thing about this; Elena had definitely avoided being late of all things. That was one of the very worst things to do on the first day of college -- or so she'd been told.
Thankfully, she had also brought something else to help keep her occupied. After opening the front pocket to her backpack, Elena pulled out an MP3 player. Putting the headphones in her ears, she turned it on and began listening to some music, the volume at a loud enough setting but not too much to bother anyone else. Simultaneously, she could hear anyone should they try to communicate with her. Soon enough, the lyrics to Seether's "Fake It" began to echo in her ears. Her eyes closed as Elena's head gently fell against the wall, relaxing while waiting for the first day to officially begin.
