O.K. This is perhaps an unusual request for a roleplaying site.
Some background:
I live in the U.K. I'm not well travelled. I have been to Greece, Spain and Germany. That's it. It's not like I've chosen to do this. I'd have loved to travel the world but there is often a huge gulf between our dreams and harsh reality. My real life is never going to allow me to visit anywhere outside of Europe.
Now I have an increasing desire to learn about Japan. The country, its culture and its language. Which is where I have my second problem. Time and privacy is practically non-existant for me. I don't have masses of time or money to collect and read lots of books or listen to lots of audio tapes or watch lots of language videos. I will probably never be able to learn to speak Japanese because I have zero exposure to Japanese people, and no privacy to sit and watch an instructional video or repeat phrases out loud until I get them right.
So the best I can hope for is to learn to write Japanese and to experience Japan through the medium of something such as roleplay.
So here's the pitch. I'm looking for a 'game' where I can basically have my character introduced to Japan by a female character, with a by product of me gaining real life knowledge of the country and the language. It's the closest I'm ever gonna get to the real thing.
This is obviously a huge topic and is likely going to be an ongoing thing for years and years. Also, whoever is willing to do this with me would have to be patient because there are times when real life is going to prevent me from posting for periods of time that may extend into weeks at times.
Also, it would be of obvious advantage if whoever was doing this was a native Japanese speaker and actually living in the country.
