It was a new game, with experimental technology. The idea was to create as immersive a game as possible. Using the most famous and popular tabletop RPG as a basis, the company had created and designed an MMO using a virtual reality system it had designed. After they had worked out everything they could in the design stages, they needed a human tester to 'dive' into the game and try playing it. The chosen tester was being debriefed now...

"This game will change the world, if it works. And the system will keep this company afloat for years if it works out as projected. We want you to test out everything you possibly can, and record every aspect you can remember afterwards. You won the right to be the first beta tester, so try to do well. You'll be the baseline for all testing afterwards.

While in the game, you'll be able to call up menus via your thoughts. That way you can access data on your character at anytime, save where you're at, and load previous files. While in the game, you shouldn't feel any pain, but instead a slight shock. We'd prefer you at some point to try dying, but it'll be fine if you don't. The system will abort if your vital signs indicate that you're dying in real life, so there's no need to worry there.

Now, while we can't read your mind, we can see what you see, and read what you write in the notes section of your character sheet. So, if at anytime you want out, let us know. We can also respond to you in the notes section as well.

Your session will be over once you've completed the 'Tower of Varkas' quest. You can take as long as you want. Now, we aren't exactly sure, but there should be a time differential of some kind, since it is at the speed of thought. That is one of the things we'll try to find out as you play. Are there any questions?" The man giving the debriefing asked.

"Just one," Alexis Sinclaire - 21 and totally popular - purred, a little giggle teased from her lips. Her hands folded on her lap, she crossed her lissome legs with a supple *scrape* of cream-white stockings: Her midnight hair framing her lovely features, as she sat up a little straighter in her seat~!

Mischief - And anticipation! - gleamed in her deep brown eyes, the lovely gamer girl giving a little nod...Oh, she'd been so pumped for this. Ever since she'd heard the specs and read the documentation...Seen the demo for herself~!...She'd done everything she could to get into the beta - And her dream had come true~!

She'd already designed her character in advance, too; A gorgeous Elven Cleric, proportions based so closely on her own...For better synchronization, she'd told herself - But mostly that was just vanity talking. Alexis just couldn't wait~!

"...When do I get started~?" she inquired, favoring him with her most fetching smile...Eager anticipation in her curve of her lips~!

"Immediately." The man replied, obviously trying to ignore her feminine charms. Unfortunately, the slight bulge in his pants gave away his attraction. "Once you enter the test room, the Virtual Helmet will be on the Gaming Chair. Simplistic names, I know, but their complicated enough, and groundbreaking enough, to not bother with fancy names at this time." The man replied, opening the door she hadn't entered. Inside there was a small room with nothing but a chair. Except for a silver helmet on said chair, and various wires leading from the chair to a wall outlet. The helmet was connected to the headrest by a cable of it's own, and had no way to see out of.

"Now just sit in the chair, put the helmet on, and say start in a clear voice. After that, just play the game. Don't worry about seeing, the entire inside is an specialized electronic mesh. It'll massage your head into a dream state, and from there pick up the electrical impulses from your brain. The basic idea is that you play the game while you sleep, instead of dreaming. Now, we have no idea how this'll effect sleep cycles, which is one more thing you'll need to keep track of during the testing process."

A chance to play games while taking a nap? For that alone, Alexis had a feeling it'd sell like hotcakes~!

The chair creaked, lightly, as she settled into it; Leaning back into the metal embrace, shifting her poise to make herself comfortable~! It cradled her, as she reclined - Her black hair spilling down the sleek curve of her back, slim fingers turning the silver helmet over and over again in her hands~!

"So this is it, hmmm~?" she breathed; Almost to herself, as she settled the helmet it place~! It was exceedingly lightweight - Just enough for her to be aware of it, as the gamer vixen drew a deep, steeling breath~!

Sleep cycles, eh? Well, it'd all depend on how long she was in there...And she had every intention of enjoying herself as much as possible~! "I'll keep that in mind," Alexis promised, with a giggle - A low sigh of anticipation purring from her silky throat, as her eyes squeezed shut. It took a moment, for her to truly get into the mindset...A last-minute check running through her mind. But for the life of her, she couldn't imagine anything else she might've missed, soooo...

"Time to light this candle, gentlemen. Start~!."

The darkness inside continued for a moment, before there was a flash of light. In the white, a title stated 'Dungeons and Dragons: VR Edition' in a 3D version of the standard type. After a moment, it started creating a character sheet that filled itself out, with a picture portrait that slowly became what Alexis had idealized for her Elven Cleric. The portrait began to rotate, showing her different views of the character. Eventually it begin to zoom in while rotating, until it faced the back of her head at close range. It then faded into black. Images began to flash by after that, and with them came knowledge. She was Tialyn Luxora, from the village of Quanquem. She had traveled to Dagdridad to explore, and to see if there was something that interested her. The wanderlust common to young elves had struck her, and she had promised her parents to come here to give a little safety to her explorations. They were more worrying than most elven parents.

"Oh, *my*..." the pleased gasp thrummed from Alexis's lips, as her PC shimmered into existence - Just as she'd designed her~! A luscious elven vixen, her feet arched high on heeled boots...Glossy blue hair framing her lovely features, her full curves just barely restrained by her modest cassock - Which clung to that voluptuous body like a second skin~!

Strange images flitted through her field of vision, as Alexis drank them in; The sensation not unlike falling asleep, as the camera zoomed in...A reassuring sensation of solidity settling on the virtual vixen, the artificial knowledge filling her mind~! It was distinctly strange - She knew it was just a game, but at the same time...She felt it as if it was really happening, her PC's life in flash-forward~!

Yes ~ She was Tialyn Luxora...And the thought made a little giggle thrum from her lips~! Alexis relaxed, letting herself merge with her character...A warm tingle coursing up her spine, as the preliminaries were completed~!

It stopped flashing forward upon the city's gates opening. Inside are multitudes of houses, and rows of building. Distinctly visible are 5 large buildings that stand out from all the others. Tialyn remembers her teacher telling her that the Temple of a 1000 Faiths was a good place to go if she was looking for fellow devotees, and that City Hall was a good place for general work. A more carefree friend said that if she wanted to meet some 'interesting' people, she should visit the Silver Raven Clan mansion, while a strict-laced friend had stated that the Mages' Tower was home to magic's best practitioners. Her parents had suggested the Blacktalon Barracks as a place to find a guardian. But perhaps she could explore the edges of the city, and find what adventures would greet her there?

The weight of the world...It felt surreal, as Tialyn Luxora's green eyes widened - A husky chuckle teased from her silky throat, in control of her character at last~! The groan of the City Gates opening jarred from her reverie, as the luscious Elven Cleric glanced down at herself...A naughty smile flitting over her lovely features, quite unlike the demure Priestess she was supposed to be~!

"My, my - This is the best thing ever~!" she giggled, her curvy hips rolling as she sauntered off...Her hands clasped behind her back, marvelling at how real it all felt. She could feel the smooth fabric of her cassock - The slight bounce of the sword at her side - the faint chime of her holy symbol of it's chain~! The gorgeous Elven vixen's hair streamed in her wake, fluttering in the breeze...The hem of her skirt caressing her creamy thighs, lissome legs sheathed in cream-white stockings.

There were so many options available...The only question was, where to start~? She shaded her eyes with a hand, pouting thoughtfully as she observed the five large buildings that loomed on the horizon - The hustle and bustle of the city reaching her keen ears, as the azure-haired virtual vixen paused to consider. Hmmm...The Cleric's Guild seemed like the most obvious option - Though maybe a bit too straight-laced for her. Silver Raven Clan mansion - City Hall...

-Well, for now, she'd prefer to go it alone for a bit~! The city just begged to be explored; Though if this was *really* going to be a beta-test, she ought to see what else she might get into~! Her heels clicked on the cobblestones underfoot, as Tialyn turned her steps towards the Low Quarter of the city, heading for City Hall...After all, since she was just starting out, it couldn't hurt to find her feet with an easy Quest or two~!

The Lower Quarter was to the west, noticeably darker, duller and dirtier than the rest of the city. The deeper you went in, the more so. The looks on the commoners ranged from pleading for help of some kind, snarls of distrust and dislike, to leers of lust. All kinds of people filled the streets, from humans, elves, half elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, half orcs, even goblinoids from small goblins to large bugbears. The even darker alleys held various muffled noises, where sometimes city guards in uniform came in and out, and very few times where they never returned.

Stores of various kinds that would attract commoners filled the 'main' street of the Lower Quarter. From foodstuffs to tools, trinkets to 'medicine', there was an abundance of such places, usually each specializing in their own small section. Houses lined the other streets, all in various condition. Some houses were fine, others were poorly cared for, though whether the reason was lack of concern, or lack of money, seems uncertain.

A river ran through the city, and it went from East to West. The 'main' street crossed it once, but other streets crossed it as well. It's widest point seemed to be a swimming spot, judging from the kids constantly coming in and out of it under the eyes of parents and guards.

There seemed to be a decent amount of roaming guards in this section of the city, with various shapes and features. They usually had a partner, but the older ones sometimes worked alone.

Humming to herself ~ Heedless of the squalor on all sides~! - Tialyn made her way through the area...Her high-heeled boots clicking on the tiles underfoot. The gorgeous Elven cleric marvelled at how well this place had been programmed...It was almost real - No, it was better than real~!

Her slim fingers came up, stroking through her glossy blue hair...The Cleric's full lips curling in a thoughtful pout. From the looks of it, she could get into plenty of trouble here ~ But the fact was, she didn't really know where to go~! It was tempting to just wander, but that would probably result in a slit throat...This place was hardly safe, especially for a deliciously voluptuous Elven vixen, out in plain sight!

Admittedly, there wasn't much she could do here, at present: For now, she'd retrace her steps, and head to City Hall instead. She could do sightseeing later - For now, she'd prefer to get a task or two under her belt!

Retracing her steps took a little bit of time, and allowed her to see more of the people, now that the buildings had been viewed.

The city guards wore a simple, plain blue uniform over the different armors they had. Most wore chain shirts, but the stronger ones wore half plate. All had a badge of some kind over their hearts. The youngest looking ones wore a sparrow, while more experienced ones bore a falcon. The guards who worked alone all bore a badge of a dragon.

Occasionally a glint of silver would peak out under what was assumed to be a commoners clothes, that she eventually found to be a silver raven in some way, be it badge, belt, button, even tattoo.

City Hall was in the center of town, in the Middle Quarter. Everything here was larger, cleaner, and better maintained than the Lower Quarter. Guards were less common, but generally looked less skilled. There was proper stores, even some dedicated to adventurers, here, along with an Inn, and what looked like a decent Tavern (the Bronze Griffen). City Hall was large, and looked like a medieval version of the Lincoln Memorial.

Outside the large doors that lead inside City Hall were three people. Two guards that both bore a dragon badge, and a much older man in purple robes. The man in robes sat at a table, with various parchments spread across.

Mmm, that seemed straightforward enough. Tialyn's gaze took in the chamber...Before her slim shoulders lifted in a little shrug. The man in robes looked like the most important person in the room...

The gorgeous Cleric sauntered over to him, dipping her head in a little bow; "Hello there," she breathed, her voice husky, smoky...Letting her gaze linger on the old man~! "I'm a new arrival to the city...A Cleric, in service to Lady Prisma." She paused, giving him a chance to take in her voluptuous form...Her expression so very, very demure, as she drew herself up to her full height!

"I was wondering...How might I be of service to the City~? I'll be glad to help in any way I could." Her lips curved in a little smile - "That is, after all, my duty."

The old man looks up as Tialyn begins to speak, and a slight leer covers his face as she finishes. "Well, there are many things you could do to help. You can go to the Guard Barracks and relieve them of their aches, perhaps help them with the city's populace. Or could join a caravan that's leaving town shortly. More healers are always welcome on the trade routes. But perhaps you'd want a 'private' discussion in my office, about more recent... incidents." The old man offered, the leer still in place.

As he ogled her, Tialyn drew herself up, just a little ~ Her hands clasped behind her back, just above the swell of her perfect ass...Accentuating the full curves of her bosom, pressing up against that black fabric of her tight cassock~! She let a little gasp part her lips at the blatant offer - But she had to admit...It was rather flattering. The virtual vixen's beauty did have a purpose, after all - And it was perversely pleasing to have it noticed~!

"Mmmm, the caravan sounds tempting~" she mused aloud, pretending to think it over - Before her smile turned ever-so-slightly wicked, shifting her hand to one curvy hip. "But...I'd welcome the chance for a private discussion. Preferably a long, strenuous one..."

She ran slim fingers through her glossy blue hair, favouring him with a sloe-eyed look - Her tongue tracing a slow, erotic arc over her pouting lips! It was so fun - Fun, and *naughty* - to watch his response~!
