I'm done....I can't go anymore she thought, the young redhead dropped to her knees and leaned her shoulder against the building beside her, she had finally escaped from her hell hole called home. If her mother hadn't gone into another one of her drunk rages the girl would have never gotten out of there, she closed her eyes to get her breath and slowly opened them to look down at her body. Rebecca knew she was cut up but she didn't know it was this bad, her knees were scrapped up, her legs had cuts from falling so many times. Her wrists had cuts she had caused and she unknowingly had a long cut on her face from her mother swinging her beer bottle around.

If I just close my eyes to rest I can run again in a minute. she told herself as she closed her eyes, barely able to even keep them open any longer.

The Sun was setting in the late day, causing most of the city streets to be obscured in shadow. The proxy dark was only divided by man made light; whether that be in the form of dim street lamps or speeding cars. In one of the later drove a eccentric man named Miller Lark. His shaggy, onyx hair whipped in the wind while his emerald eyes scanned the landscape.

'I love driving,' he thought to himself. 'It focuses the mind, blocking out all the stress and distractions.'

Oddly, it was in the middle of this course of thinking he keep to a sudden stop. Although he thought he had just imagined it, a second glance proved his sight right. There was a woman leaning against a building, barely awake as blood trickled out from several places on her body. The worsted appeared to be a nasty gash on her face. Within a moment Miller was out of his vehicle, walking towards the young red head.

"Hey! Are you okay?" he asked kneeling next to her. "Can you even hear me?" The street was empty of others aside from the odd passing car or two. As he realized that he began to try and pick the young woman up. "You need help."

She flickered her eyes open and looked up at him and realized he was trying to pick her up, "No! Stop let me go!!" She yelled hitting his arms weakly "I don't need help!" she snapped, her eyes wide with both anger and fear. She was breathing heavily again and felt her eyes start to close but sh opened them quickly and forced herself to her feet swaying slightly.

Miller stopped trying to pick the girl up, setting her down. He expected a lot of different reactions out of her- and he got the one he expected the most. "Look," he began, "I'm not trying to hurt you. Someone else has already done that. And you say you don't need help; I can go along with that for now too. But I know you don't plan to bleed out on the sidewalk where. That said, can I at least offer you a ride? Preferably to the hospital."

"I don't....I don't have any money for.....the bills." she said dropping her head into her hands, if she was able to keep her eyes open long enough she would have been able to see how handsome the man was, at this point though she didn't care if she was broke or not, she didn't want to die "Okay, please, just hurry." She mumbled softly

Nodding as he bent down Miller had the strange girl back in his car in ten seconds flat. He punched the gas, taking her to the nearest clinic he knew- one ran by a good friend.

One rushed conversation later and a whole bunch of bandages later, Miller was lounging in a chair. In his hand was a magazine and to his right was the red headed woman he brought here. His eyes kept glancing over to her, despite his attempts to focus on the article in front of him. He had to admit she was attractive, with a very nice body. Yet the state she was in- bleeding and penniless -was an interesting prospect.

'I wonder...'

Rebecca had been asleep so when she opened her eyes and looked around her heart monitor quickened a bit before she remembered what happened and it went back to normal. She rubbed her forehead numbly and sighed heavily and looking to her side noticing Miller and jumped in shock "you...w-were you the one who brought me here?" She asked

He smiled at her, nodding his head. "That I am. My name is Miller Lark and this room is on me. Feel free to make use of the free food and morphine but wreak the room and deny my deposit and I'll have your head." He laughed, before coughing into his hand. "Sorry, bad joke. Any chance I can get your name now?" he asked moving on to more important matters.

"I'd hate to start calling you Red."

As she listened to him she frowned slightly when he mentioned the morphine, she wasn't the kind of girl to get off on drugs "I'm Rebecca." She said softly "Miller how can I ever repay you for...well for all this?" She asked tilting her head slightly now getting a good look at him. She had to admit he was extremely good looking but she mentally shook her head, she had other things to worry about not just the man next to her who had so kindly helped a random person on the street.

"Repay me?" Miller asked as he began to rub his chin. He appeared to be deep in thought.

"I think you can. Your injuries are superficial and you will be leaving the clinic tonight. When you do i would like you to join me at my home. Come be my guest tonight."

She hesitated only for a second, not wanting to go back to her own home "Okay." She said though she was wondering why probably because its so late now. she told herself and looked down at her arms and legs

He smiled in his little victory. "Great. Now stay here for a second. I am going to go talk to Elise- oh, that's the doctor who patched you up -I am going to go speak to him about getting you out of here."

Miller left the room, coming back a minute later with an older and bald man. He was Dr. Elise who confirmed Rebecca was clear to leave when ever she wanted. Just no straining herself for the next few days. The doctor left almost immediately after that; he claimed to be busy, but it seemed to be in frustration of Miller.

Rebecca swung her legs over the side of the bed and gingerly placed her feet on the ground "I wanna go now then." She said looking up at Miller tiredly. She always hated hospitals and just wanted to get out even if it was just to go to a random mans house for the night.
