It was a warm, almost hot day in early June at Madison High School. Given that it was the last week of school, the students there were already tuned out enough, and the arrival of summer weather only served to decrease their focus on school even further. Mr. Duncan, one of three of the school's guidance counselors, had the not so fortunate task of dealing with his delegated group of students to meet with regarding their selected courses for the upcoming year.

Mr. Duncan was 38, and though he kept his job at Madison, his employment there was not really a necessity. He had done quite well for himself trading stocks and bonds, getting in on certain companies at the right time and dropping other assets at the right time as well. On this particular Wednesday afternoon, as the day wore on to a close and the sun beat through the blinds of his office window, he wondered why he even still bothered doing what he did. As he looked at his list of student appointments for the day, he was not only relieved to be at the last name, but somewhat excited. The name was one which he recognized...which he had heard in the halls, heard from teachers and associated with a cute young lady he had his eye on for some time.

As Mr. Duncan got up from his desk and opened his office door, his suspicions were confirmed and the girl he associated with the name on his list was indeed outside his office. He took a breath, knowing full well where he intended to take this appointment but trying to remain as serious and professional as possible. As he set eyes upon the young girl in one of the chairs outside his office, he purposely acted dumbfounded, showing little enthusiasm...

"Umm you must be..."

He stepped slightly to the side, inviting the young lady into his office, mustering up his confidence and his courage to go through with what he had in mind. At 38 years old, he was no slouch...he stood and 6ft, about 210lbs, short light brown and slightly wavy hair, pale blue eyes...in good shape for his age but not overly muscular...moreso lean with a runner's body...he was dressed somewhat casually today in khaki pants, brown Skecher shoes and a black polo with Madison High logo on it, and though he felt confident, this was also not an arrangement he had ever attempted to enter into before.

Putting a finger between the tie at her neck and her white shirt, she loosened it slightly, trying to get some breathing room from the constricting feeling and heat. However, being prim, proper, and professional was imprinted on her genetic makeup and she couldn't loosen it like she wanted to nor take it off - not with her meeting ahead. The silken length of her auburn hair hung down her back causing her neck to sweat slightly; reaching back she lifted up her hair and started to pull it into a ponytail, the sun glinting off of it like fire, her shirt pulled back against the mounds of her generous and still developing breasts. Before she dropped her hands back into her lap she slid her glasses back up into position, the effect of glasses made her emerald eyes look larger, gave a more professional atmosphere to her looks. Only sixteen and a year away from graduating early, she wanted her life on the right track so that she wouldn't have to depend on anyone. Her motto 'study, study, work, work, and always be professional'.

When she heard the door in front of her open up, she looked up and stood, smoothing her hands down her skirt and removing the sweat that had gathered from the heat and nervousness. Picking up her binder she stepped forward and offered her hand to him for a shake, "I am Nikoletta Roman, thank you for taking your time to see me, Mr. Duncan." Her voice was low and smokey, sensual, without her even being aware of it. As he stepped to the side, she walked past him, noticing his height against her's, even with her heels on her eyes only meet at his mouth. Continuing on into the room, she stood beside a chair opposite of his and waited until he was seated before she would seat herself.

Briefly she tightened her binder closer to her chest and took a deep breath she needed for courage. She was ready to give him the layout of what she wanted for next year in order to graduate early. As much as she had enjoyed her high school years, she was ready to get out and move onto college and her degree. Because of the club activities that she had, her body was trim and fit, athletic - the only reason why she participated in club activities was to make her college application look even better. It seemed, from what she had found, that colleges invested in people who were active team players in conjunction with those who had excellent academics, and that is what she needed. Investment.

"Right...Nikoletta," Mr. Duncan said, as if he did not know who she was, when in reality, he knew exactly. He motioned for her to step inside, directing her to one of the two plain wooden chairs that sat opposite his desk, as he walked around it and took a seat in his own chair.

He didn't speak at first, instead looking over her the papers in her file. Or, at least, he gave off that impression as he feigned interest in her transcript, all the while subtly stealing glances at her nubile young figure. In addition, he also saw fit to intentionally let the tension in the room build before laying everything out.

"Well Ms. Roman," he finally started. "I've been reviewing your file here, and quite frankly I have some concerns." Again he paused, almost for dramatic effect, wanting the anxiety level in the young girl to build up.

"Your grades are not quite where they should be...at least not when it comes to ideas of graduating early. Quite frankly, I think the best thing to do at this point is probably have your parents in for a meeting before we talk about any of the upper level courses next year."

This was, of course, bullshit. The girl's grades were near the top of her class and nowhere near the level that would require parental involvement. However, he hoped that at her age, she would revert to trusting an authority figure like himself, and his judgment. Plus, it didn't take a psychologist (though he had his B.A. in Psych to go along with a Master's in Economics and Education) to know any kid of that age would be deathly afraid of getting their parents involved.
