Gods can be difficult sometimes.

They want worship. They demand obedience and wield their power as if they were...special.

For a Frost Giant raised as the son of Odin and the brother of several more gods, the conceitedness of them in general was downright annoying.

Loki drew a strong, lean hand through his dark hair and smiled down at the pages of the huge tome he was reading. He knew that his brother, Thor, was too muscle-bound and single-minded to care about such things, but Loki had found a wondrous artifact that could guarantee him the favor of their father, Odin. It would guarantee that Loki grew up to rule Asgaard as the favored son instead of that stupid, bumble-headed, overly handsome-hammer-wielding lunk of a brother Thor.

Loki spit on the ground. Thor. The very sound of his name made Loki want to vomit.

But once he had the hourglass...once Loki turned back time...he could strangle the infant Thor and ensure that Odin would have one son and one son only to dote on. His other brothers and sisters came much later than he and Thor. With the blond hulk of muscle out of the way Loki knew that he'd be the favored son; the one with Odin's love.

The one to rule Asgaard.

Loki closed the book and put it back exactly like it had been. He had to get to that puny little planet named Earth and find a certain blood line. A special family could lead him to the hourglass; once he found the remaining members of that family he'd be able to retrieve his artifact and travel back in time.

Thor would die.

...and Loki would rule.
