The Lobby
You enter the large mansion, invitation in hand. With all the strange reality shows these days, you figure this one has to be among the more tame in variety. A simple weekend at a haunted house? There was a show on Sci-Fi that did that every day of the week, but those guys didn't get anything for winning.
Regardless, a million dollars was very appealing, and you deserve a little time in the limelight. Perhaps it's time to finally get that modeling or acting gig going.
The lobby is dark. A flash of light coming through the stained glass high above the door illuminates the room with a flash of every color imaginable. Two flights of stairs run up the lobby's side, hooking together on a balcony above. You can't see what lies on top from here. Two giant wooden doors stare at each other on opposite sides of the rooms. No light seems to be coming behind them.
In front, a marble door is cracked, just about enough for a person to fit through, you imagine. It looks heavy and there's no hinges you can see. It's thickness is just about half of your own body. From inside the room you hear the distant sound of music playing. Ballroom style. Or so you guess. The light coming from there is the only other source besides the flashes of light from the lightning outside and a candle on a table in front of you.
How did you miss it before? Perhaps the elegant lobby distracted you? The candle lights up a small paper on the same table along with a feather quill and bottle of ink.
The sign reads:
PLEASE SIGN IN AND MEET US IN THE DINING HALL
