Lisa Williams had up until recently had it all. Despite being only 18 years old she had landed a fantastic job right out of High School. She'd found herself a fantastic apartment and a fantastic boyfriend. Everything about her life had been absolutely fantastic, as if living in some kind of dream world. Unfortunately, dreams come to an end.
On returning home from work one day, Lisa had been shocked to discover her boyfriend, whom she hadn't even yet had sex with, in bed with not only another woman, but another man, her boyfriend sandwiched between the two. To make it worse this man and woman were her two superiors at work, the ones who held the delicate strings of Lisa's life in their hands. Lisa hadn't been thinking about that at the time though, simply losing it in a rage and practically attacking the trio, throwing them out of her apartment, physically in some cases. That had not gone unpunished. The next morning Lisa found herself being told to clear out her desk. Apparently a 'random audit' of her work had uncovered all kinds of discrepancies. Not only had she been fired though, the company turned around and sued her, claiming that the discrepancies were actually Lisa stealing money for herself. She'd tried to defend herself, but more and more evidence had simply kept appearing as if from nowhere. Before she knew it, Lisa found herself with not only legal fees, but owing her former employers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Her car was the first to go, then her apartment, followed by every possession she owned, all sold off to try and pay the debts that didn't really exist. It didn't take long for Lisa's parents to find out. When she turned up on their doorstep, literally nothing more than the clothes on her back to her name, the door was slammed in her face, her parents refusing to have anything to do with a fraud and criminal. Now, Lisa had nothing left. Nowhere to turn. She had no way to pay back the money it had been decided she owed, and somehow the company had used its contacts to convince the police that Lisa's fraud was so great to constitute a criminal act, one she should be arrested and imprisoned for. In less than a week Lisa's entire life had collapsed in on her, turning from a gleaming beacon of perfection to nothing more than smouldering ashes.
And that was how Lisa found herself here, standing on the sidewalk of a tall bridge, the wind and rain biting through her thin clothing, soaking her to the bone and almost freezing her to death....but that would be too slow. Peering over the edge, Lisa stared into the surging waters beneath, waves crashing against razor sharp rocks, tearing through discarded wooden debris like it was little more than tissue paper. Well....at least it would be quick. Once there were no pedestrians around and the traffic had subsided, Lisa slowly climbed up onto the guard rail, taking one last look back at the city she had called home. Then, with a final curse of its existence, she allowed herself to fall forwards, tears lost in the rain, her body leaving all solid ground, now falling towards the waiting waves below...
