When the tamer approached her, the Mareep's instincts immediately switched to the fight-or-flight response. Even if she needed to conserve the last of her energy, she ended up straining the last of her electrical power to intimidate the human. Sparks of electricity crackled from her hair and wool, then danced between the little cones on both sides of her head that acted like power lines to stabilize the amount of electricity her body generated. Too much would be bad for her, too.
The power she exerted gave out with a pathetic phut, but the little Mareep tried again when the tamer got too close, limbs pulled close to her body to generate as much electricity as she possibly could. However, when Jack surprised her by leaving food on the grass and retreating, she let her guard down if only for a moment to study the human's curious behavior. For now, sating her hunger was a priority before intimidating the human, so she reached a hand out to drag the food within her reach, taking both candy and bread in each of her hands. Again, she glanced up to the tamer before eating, literally just stuffing her face as if she had never had anything like food before.
Of course, the Mareep stopped in mid-bite to look up at the tamer again, still skeptical, but returned to her voracious eating in no more than a second until her face was covered in crumbs and candy bits. Although malnourished and exhausted, she managed to hum happily as she ate, the tail that had just been untangled from the bush thumping on the dirt. Again, she glanced at the tamer, then ate like it was a routine she had just adopted to be both full and safe at the same time, but it was difficult to ignore the temptations of food and only eat for short periods of time. She might have gotten careless, because by the time she started eating her second piece of bread, Jack had become something like a backdrop to her.
