Caroline walked slowly, hesitantly, wishing she could turn to run, but the werewolves were guarding her, ready to pounce if she chose to run. With each step, it was a step deeper into the territory of the werewolves and she felt a tremor roll down her spine as she bit her lower lip. She was nervous, her muscles were tense with the urgent need to run and her nerves were like horses, bucking frantically. She seemed to jump at the slightest noise and then she heard the two werewolves beside her growl, and then chuckle and laugh at her. Up ahead, she saw light flickering from a fire and shadows stretched over the ground as they drew closer.
She could just tell that they were arriving at the heart of the pack's territory and she knew that it was too late to run now. Before, she might have had a chance, with only two werewolves on her tail, but now, she would have several and she wouldn't make it. Yet, she stopped at the edge of the glowing circle of light that stretched out from the clearing as she took a step back, and she immediately heard snarls coming from either side of her. She let out a slight whimper of fear, shaking her head, as she planted her feet to the ground, she was refusing to enter the clearing and to face the crowd and most of all, refusing to face the leader. She took another step back as she looked wide eyed between the two guards.
