She didn't know what was going to happen. She'd heard of how several of the prisoners had been taken from cells, that they'd been dragged down the cold steel hallways and down towards the labs. Rumors were quick to sprout about their fate, hushed whispers that did little to ease Alice's own mind. Some said that the poor souls were opened up, they were to torn to shreds in order to satiate the bastards' curiosity. Others said that their fate was far worse, that they underwent a process that converted their blood, their bodily function...twisting and contorting their flesh until they were one of the enemy. Alice herself didn't know which fate she'd prefer, and as more people were taken she found herself spending the nights with one eye open. The mere idea that she'd be one of the taken, that she'd be dragged down that cold hallway so many others, made her shudder. It was going to happen, she knew it...one of these days it was going to happen.
And, sure enough, it did.
They'd come for in the early morning, before she'd even had a chance to fully awaken from her restless slumber. A pair of armored guards, standing at least two foot taller than she. They grabbed her with not even a hint of kindness, yanking the petite girl to her feet and pulling her out of her cell. They didn't utter even a single word as they dragged her hall, and though she was too tired to even struggle (not like it would've done much) Alice wanted to scream. The other prisoners could only watch her with a faint trace of pity as she was dragged down the hall, knowing that this would be the last time they'd ever lay their eyes upon the young woman. This was it, this was the end.
They'd lead her down the twisting hallways, and finally into the labs. The room, like much of the faculty, was clean and sterile. Within the middle was a slab of steel, a bed. Bordering the room, stored in various shelfs, were a variety of vials filled with liquids that Alice could barely even recognize. The guards, as quiet as ever, forced her forward. They stripped her of her prisoner garb, the girl only clad in her undergarments, and forced her onto the table. The cold steel pressed up against her skin as they laid her down upon it, clamps coming down around her wrists and ankles. The muscles in her stomach tensed, her pale chest rising and falling.
"..." With one final glance, the two guards turned tail and slipped out of the room. The door closed with a swish, and an unsteady silence settled over the room.
"Dammit..." The words were barely even a hiss, sweat dribbling down her forehead as her eyes wandered. "Dammit..." This couldn't be happening. This couldn't be happening...
