It was dark. The night was cold, but there was silence. It was too quiet. Disturbing even. It seemed out of place. Kuren woke up and looked around almost immediately. His memory was foggy, so the happenings before he got there were basically gone. All that he knew was that he wasn't at home anymore. The entire area was shrouded in shadows of the night. Nothing seemed right. Especially since there was no wind either. It just seemed wrong. Shaking his head, Kuren decided to walk around to get feeling back in his body. He had been out for too long.

On the first step, he noticed something crucial. The body type he was, wasn't what he was anymore. Everything about him seemed weird. Quickly running to the sound of running water, he found a lake. Kuren looked into the water and noticed the changes. White hair. Red eyes. Pale skin. Fangs. He wasn't a human anymore. He was altered. A vampire.

Out in the distance, he heard more yelling and even some screaming. It seemed like he wasn't the only one there.

Pain. All Eria could feel was absolute, furious pain that wrung her body into knots. Twisting, aching knots of fire that made her once beautiful voice rip out of her throat like a siren, sending the once slumbering birds screaming into the night sky. She could feel her body changing, bones breaking and skin slogging off onto the ground in bloody heaps, leaving her bright and shiny muscles to gleam in the moonlight. After releasing one last shrill note of agony, Eria collapsed onto the soft earth as the feeling of numbness took hold. Her eyes blacked out, her hearing shut down and her mouth tasted of dry dirt and blood.

As she lay there, her body twitching and her breathing haggard, all Eria could think was, "Why? Why is this happening to me? Why can't I remember where I am or how I got here? Am I dying? Is this the end?"

Then, as suddenly as her pain started, it stopped. The numbness faded away from her being as new blood flowed through her powerful veins. The blackness began to clear away from her eyes, leaving the bleak, muted colors of the surrounding forest in the moonlight sharp and as clear as day. Her hearing cleared as well, making the slightest rustle in the leaves cause alarm to fill her body. "What was that?"

The thought was enough to startle her senses into coming alive, and she slowly rose up onto her new legs. Looking down, Eria realized that her body was indeed not that of her own, but of some hooved animal. A quick scan of her body assessed that she had four distance eating legs, a long and sleek tail of flowing ebony and a body thick with muscles and strength. Her hooves clomped and stamped as she swayed from side to side, trying to adjust to the massive size of her new body.

"A...horse? Why am I a-" her thought was cut off by the sudden rustling in the bushes. "I'll ponder this to myself later. Right now, I have company."

It was dark and fresh new screams and yells were appearing all around him. It seemed that new meat had appeared. More experiments and probably some failures. Maybe even some that weren't failures either. Kai came out of the bushes. Deep red pupils with black around them instead of white. He was infused with a fire demon wolf. It was a new way of saying go to hell with me. His sense of smell had been triggered by a new scent. There were eagles, vampires, demons, wolves, and a few other types of creatures around. Everything was different, there weren't many that were the same, except for certain aspects of their forme. So when Kai smelled the scent of a horse, it got him quite riled up.

It wasn't too long after that he had picked up the scent entirely, and had moved to its location. Being found out quite quickly was a downfall though. Yes, he was able to use his strength to over power his enemies, but he would rather do it sneakily. One has to eat after all. Kai emerged from the bushes and stood in full gaze of the horse. "Well, isn't this a surprise. A horse type chimera. You're the first one of that brand. I wonder where they got you from." He said with a sly smile on his face. Taking in the full view, she was rather small, but thick with muscles. "Probably hard to chew, but I can get over that." He thought to himself.

Walking off to the right, almost like circling prey, Kai grinned, showing off some rather gnarly canines. "Oh, come now. Don't tell me you're scared."

Eria swiveled her head to watch the strange man, cautious and fearful. "Damn straight, I'm scared. I don't know where I am, how I got here or whatever the hell a Were Chimera is. Who are you?" She tried to say, but all that came out were nickers and whinnies.

Shaking her head so that her long, silky black mane was flipped out of her eyes, Eria tried again but slower. "Where are we?" It sounded almost human by the way she sounded it out, but the man didn't seem to notice her attempts to communicate. Instead he watched her with hungry, predator eyes that started whispers in the back of her head. Run, run, run free...

Stomping her hooves again, Eria turned her massive body with surprising grace as she followed the circling man, facing him now. She lowered her head to look into the man's eyes and was startled to find the raw animosity there. Violent, bloodthirsty, the eyes of a hunter. Her own large blue eyes reflected back at her from those glassy black depths, showing a spooked mare on the verge of fleeing. Run, run, run free...

Deciding to head the voice in her head rather than just stay with the hunter, Eria quickly stepped backwards and reared onto her back legs, kicking out her front hooves and neighing loudly. Then, with the turning speed of a human and not that of a horse, Eria bolted off into the trees, her long legs carrying her faster than she had ever run before. The light frost that coated the ground was trampled under her racing hooves, the sounds of her fleeing echoing loudly through the quiet woods as she tasted the freedom of the wild horse.

Kai knew that the horse was trying to communicate with him, but she hadn't figured out how to yet. She was a newborn. New to this hell hole that they called a forest. Easy prey, but he had to be careful. Horses were quite strong with kicking and quite fast. But a chimera with no practice was like a doe that was separated from anything else. Kai merely grinned as she took off running. The chase is what thrilled him the most. A gleam appeared in his eyes as he transformed into the wolf creature he was. Its eyes were a bright, deep red and its fur was pitch black. Perfect colors for a forest this dark.

Kai took off in this form and began to chase down the new chimera. The wind blowing through his fur was quite exhilarating, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to keep the running up for too long. He wasn't too used to being in this form either. More in his human state. "I need to finish this." He thought to himself. Pushing himself a bit more, he sped up and over took the horse. Jumping in front of it, he growled and planted his feet firmly to the ground.

Kuren had been looking around the forest since he had gotten there. He'd seen most of the chimeras that were around, and wondered why he was turned into a vampire instead. Everyone else had some sort of animal, he had a species. He was about to just sit down when he heard the rustling around him of something chasing another. Being curious, he followed up until the wolf jumped and got in front of the other one. Things were about to go down, and he was wondering whether or not he wanted to intervene.

Startled at the sudden appearance of the sin black wolf before her, Eria skidded to a stop and froze, her heart still beating to the rapid staccato of her flight. Shaking her head and backing up, Eria let out a whinny that beared her teeth, swishing her tail back and forth as she righted her stance.

But instead of the blocky horse teeth that she felt when she ran, her teeth had elongated and sharpened to that of vicious fangs. Eria swung her head from side to side, shaking the hair from her eyes and growling as she stepped back away from the beast, snapping at it angrily.

"I don't know how he caught up with me, but if I don't do something fast, I'm might never figure out what's going on. Might never be human again..." That thought sobered her rather quickly and made her even more anxious to get away.

"I'll stomp him into the ground if I must, but I will not become someone else's dinner."

Kai had caught up with the horse-like creature finally, but after that long chase, the wolf just sighed. Standing up, the wolf transformed back into the human like creature he was and looked at her. "It seems that after that long chase, I could easily eat you in many different ways....But it seems that you are a feisty one. You have the will to live and not be pushed around by these surroundings. I promise you, I am not the worst thing you could come across in these parts. I'm probably in the top five though." He said with a grin and a laugh. Kai looked at the girl and just grinned. "I welcome you to this world and I hope to whatever is watching us, that you will be able to survive here. I also hope you can find your way back into a human form for causes like these." Kai said lightly. He turned and looked into the shadows. Kuren saw the look and vanished into the shadows, disappearing from Kai's senses. He grinned.

"It seems like our chase has caused some commotion around here. I'd say that you need to find shelter. I welcome you to come with me, but that's only if you trust me enough."

Shocked at how rapidly his mood swung, Eria closed her mouth and stepped back, her wariness at the man before her only intensifying when she heard movement in the forest beyond. Tossing her head to the side, she snorted and swished her tail in thought.

"If I go with this man, I could be either safe or just his easy snack for later. I really shouldn't trust this, but I guess I have no other choice. I don't know what could be hiding in the darkness. I guess I'll go with him, but I'll have to watch him carefully."

Reaching her decision, Eria nodded at him and sighed. Flicking her ears, she took a few cautious steps forward and lowered her head, her long black mane covering one eye and partially shielding the other as she examined the man. At the moment, he looked about as innocuous as a puppy, but she knew that it could change in a heartbeat.

"Well, he certainly cuts a nice figure, but he did try to eat me, so I guess that kinda ruins it. Maybe he can help me turn human? He obviously has been here long enough to figure it out."

Not really wanting to dawdle, Eria nickered at him and swung her head up, subtly asking him to lead the way through the woods.

Kai wasn't going to deal with this sort of stuff much longer. When they got back to where his area was, he was going to get her to speak normally again. It wasn't that difficult. Kai nodded and began his descent into the forest with the horse girl behind him. A few creatures moved around them, and even some of them crept up on them, but when they saw Kai, they stepped back and moved away. It only took a sight or a growl from him for the others to run off. Kai had been there for close to a decade now. He and a few others were there for quite some time. They had made their names for themselves. It didn't take much. Just a good amount of fights that were won. Plus, he was a ruler of a certain area.

The wolf led the horse towards an opening in the forest. In the middle, there was a big cave that led underground. All around them, there were wolves of colors that were extremely different. They noticed the horse girl and they all got a little excited. Kai growled heavily at them and they all backed down. "Down here." He said as he walked into the cave. While she followed him, once they were inside, they got to a small statue down there. That's where he turned around and grabbed her by the throat. His strength was immense and not even willing to give up. He growled at her and his fangs started to show. He squeezed almost to a point that she couldn't breath, let alone fight back. But just as she was getting close, he let go and walked away. "Speak." He had done something to her.

At the man's nod, Eria followed behind him about a few steps back, looking around cautiously. There was the occasional rustle in the leaves and a pair of eyes flashing here and there, but other creatures pretty much held their distance.

"Is he really that feared? Why am I following him again?" She thought warily but decided to just go with it. After a while, the two came up upon a moonlit cave surrounded by wolves of all sizes and colors. A few rose their heads and opened their jaws, razor sharp teeth glistening and hungry eyes glaring, but after a growl from the man they silenced and looked away, properly cowed.

Eria paused at the entrance, flicking her ears back in uncertainty and stamping her hooves. "If all else fails, just beat the crap out of anyone who tries to eat you. Right. Great plan, Eria." Taking a breath and putting her hoof forward, Eria descended into the bowels of the cave.

It was dark, but the air felt cool and moist, easing her tension slightly. Looking around, Eria saw many ledges and rocks, all leading the way to a central chamber that looked like an amphitheater. High up, the celing moved and swayed, scaring Eria until she realized that it was made of trees and leaves. Gentle moonlight made beams dance within the shadows of the world below, making fantastic greyscale patterns.

In the very epicenter of the cavern lay a small statue covered in moss. Before Eria could get a closer look, the man darted his clawed hand forward and gripped her throat, squeezing with incredible force.

Eria's mind blanked, her body frozen as she stared wide eyed at the man. Just before it felt like she would pass out from a lack of oxygen, he let go and growled, "Speak." Snorting and stumbling back, Eria tossed her head and gasped, glaring up at the man as much as a horse could. "What the hell is wrong with you!?" Eria snarled. Then she stopped, gasped and stared in wonder from the man to the statue and back again. "Y-you fixed me? Does this mean I can be human again?"

Before the man could answer, a howl as soft as the wind breezed through the cave, filling it with moonlight as the canopy of trees above seemed to separate from one another.

Faint greetings chimed in, announcing the arrival of someone of great importance. As the soft hellos of, "Greetings Lady Sol, Sir Kaj." drew closer, the man tensed, a twisted frown on his face. Eria looked from the entrance to him, suddenly wary again.

"Bringing a strange creature into our midst. Using the power of the Guardian Stone without permission. And no food to bring back to the clan. You have quite the streak today, Kai." Said a motherly voice.

A wolf of pure gold and eyes as clear as glass appeared in the entrance, surrounded by other pack members that all slowly began circling in Eria and Kai. The wolf was covered from head to tail in scars, all of them nasty and crisscrossing in jagged lines that proved many battles had been fought. Yet somehow, the scars only added to the wolf's radiant beauty. It was like she was surrounded in a silvery glow that encircled all of the wolves present, flashing over them like a blanket and then disappearing. The glow did not touch Kai though. No, he sparked a much darker color that Eria couldn't identify quick enough.

One wolf stepped forward to stand next to the golden one, looking like the incarnation of wild fire smoke at night. The glare that he gave Kai was scalding, the look of fatherly dissaproval thick on him. He too was scar ridden, but his smoky grey and blue fur was so dark that they weren't as noticeable. His eyes blazed a blue so pure it shocked Eria into quiet as they swept over her in passing.

"Well, explain yourself, Kai. Who is this creature, and why are our clans going hungry yet another night?" The stern wolf growled, the fur on the back of his neck rising in challenge. The same silvery glow enveloped him, but it was stronger than the others.

((Hey, how did you get that link to Kai to work? I want to show their pictures too D: ))

Kai nodded and looked at the horse after she was finally able to speak again. "You won't be able to become fully human, but you should be able to come into an existence to show your true form. A human form. It may not be what you looked like before, but it's better than nothing." He said quickly before his face turning into a scowl. The smell of something, or someone, filled his nose and knew that something was going to come from it. Kai only nodded his head to the two of them as the other wolves bowed and stayed quiet. They began speaking in a very condescending tone to him, which didn't really do much. He just grinned and looked at the two of them. "Well, for starters, get off the high horse with the way you speak to me. Next, I have food on its way from the pack that I was already with. This one over here," he said, pointing to Eria, "is a creature I hadn't seen around here before. Being new, I wanted to see what this woman's knowledge could bring." He said looking back at her. Kai winked at her just to stay quiet.

He looked back at the other wolves, and this time, he was serious. A pitch black aura came off of him. Within that, there were deep red sparks scalding the ground. "I don't need a reason to come back empty handed as it is." He said as his eyes became dark. "We are two clans staying with each other. You, being the leader of your wolves. Myself, the leader of the others." He said coldly. With just those words, about thirty wolves appeared from inside the darkness. Each with blood red eyes and sleek black coats. And as they emerged, half of them shifted to their human forms. Not all just being wolves either. Some were vampires in the right form.

Kai looked back at Sol and calmed himself. The other wolves backed down as well, shifting back. He was in power. Not many creatures that made it to the area they were in were able to shift between forms. Not many lived to be able to do so. Pointing back at Eria, he nodded lightly. "Under my protection, she is not to be hurt. I don't think you want clan war to break out here. Not on this sacred ground especially." He said firmly. Sol and Kaj both knew his power, but even they didn't know to what extent. There was a certain form that he had that no one had ever seen. He wasn't just a wolf.

That was when two other figures appeared. They were both in human form. The first one was a man. He was tall and pretty strong looking. Kuro looked around and laughed. "Now don't tell me that you've forgotten us Lady Sol." He said firmly. Looking over at Kai, he bowed and Kai nodded his head. "The food is outside the cave. Enough for two week I would say. A good amount of creatures were out tonight. Probably not now though. Yami made sure of that." He said with a grin. He cracked his knuckles and waited on a girl to join him. Yami stepped forwards and bowed to Kai. She looked at the others and just stayed pretty calm, not saying much. "Please don't bother Master Kai. I think both of us would get pretty upset." She said quietly. Her words were soft, but the aura around her was fierce. Both of their's were. They were just like Kai's. Not to be messed with.

Kai, Yami, and Kuro were the three main commanders, but Kuro and Yami were both under Kai. They were the strongest of the strong in that clan of wolves. But like Kai, they didn't have just wolf forms. Those three were blessed and cursed with a third form. First as a human, second as a wolf, third...That's a secret.

Eria was glancing around nervously at the sudden increase in predators, but when Kai said that she was under his protection, she relaxed a little. Lady Sol had kept her eyes on Eria the entire time, making her even more wary, but when the other two wolves appeared, she glanced away to regard the new comers. "She seems like the kind of person to want to have on your side. I wonder what the history between her and Kai is?" Eria thought.

Giving a soft laugh, Sol bent forward and shifted into her human form. "Now now, Kai. You know as well as I do that war between our clans would end in nothing but despair for us all. And to have the Overseer witness such an event? What a calamity." Sol's voice lapped at one's mind like water at the edge of a lake, filled with calm and peaceful intent.

As with her lupine form, Sol was covered in scars, but managed to radiate the same beautiful silver glow on her alabaster skin. Her glassy, unseeing eyes shined with amusement, and her pink lips creased in a small smile. Her glittering gold hair shifted to fall on the side of her face, pooling on the ground in a puddle of silk. She was dressed in a simple white kimono that was adorned with pale pink lotus blossoms and ribbons. She wasn't a very tall woman, but her very presence demanded one's respect and awe at her unearthly beauty.

Her companion Kaj remained in his lupine form, growling at Kai and moving to stand next to Sol. The two made a striking pair, as different as night and day, but seeming to fit well together. "There is no disrespect, Kai. Your clan has hunted well in the absence of our own hunters, but I must wonder why you bring this much food now? Why have you not brought this much before? Is it because of this horse? Did you bring more food as an excuse to bring her here? Because I highly doubt that a new born such as her could be of any use to us other than food." Kaj leered at Eria, his striking blue eyes pinning her to the spot. Eria unconsciously moved to stand behind Kai.

Sol glanced at Kaj and shushed him with a hand on his head. Kaj looked up at her with something close to regret but also love. "You never know, Eolv. If Kai did not kill this one immediately, then there most have been a reason why. So, Kai. What is the real reason as to why this one in not a part of our meal?"
