It all started 15 years ago. Juniper, Kensington, Howard, and Gregor was the best law firm around. They took every type of case. Criminal, disability, personal injury, if it could be won they took it. Colin Kensington had been working on a murder case that was sure to be a winner. The state had minimal proof that his client murdered her husband. During the process of the trial witnesses were called, none having any real bearing on the case. At least not until the prosecutor called on a friend of the defendant, another attorney. That witness sent the case into a tail spin. As the witness testified lies unravelled and Colin's defense became obsolete. He loathed the man who testified, and to this day their families fueded. There was bad blood between them. There were always fights, arguments, and everytime the two men went to a trial against each other it was obvious by the venomous words they spat at each other.

Not oblivious to it all, Colin's youngest daughter was sick of the fighting. What was to be gained by vicious attacks in the public eye? Both families were well respected but being in the papers constantly was more than the 19 year old could take. Olivia sighed as she put the morning paper down. There they were again. Bitter Battle in Carson City. The newspapers were more focused on the attorneys than the actual million dollar civil lawsuit case. She looked at the clock and finished her toast before standing up and walking to the bathroom. She had to take a shower before class this afternoon. It was the first day of the new semester, and she was excited to get out of the house again. She washed herself and stepped out of the shower wrapping a towel around her.

Olivia dried her hair before straightening it and doing her makeup, putting black eyeliner on with light green eyeshadow. Her blue eyes popped against the colors and her black hair fell around her pale skin. She went to her room and put on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, an Anberlin tee shirt, and her favorite black and white plaid DC's.

Finally it was time to leave for the campus and she hopped into her Audi A3. She drove to the campus, parked in her reserved spot and got out of the car, locking it behind her. She made her way across the courtyard to her Western Civilization History course. She had her books in her arms and she arrived at class 10 minutes before it started. She sat there, legs crossed, looking at the people who walked into the classroom.

For Travis McCormick, life was not at his peak at the moment. Sure, he was as famous as his opposer attorney was at the moment, but with that comes greater responsiblities, such as the fact that every newspaper of Carson City had both Law Firms on the spotlight and ready to expose the best of them. The fight was at its pinnacle and one could not give up now that it was all or nothing. However, this also imposed some really bad reputation on both of their sides. In one hand, Colin was defending someone who pleaded not guilty. On the other hand, Travis was defending someone that pleaded not guitly. It was tough when half of the city was against you.

Of course, nonetheless, life was not easy at all for Ken McCormick. His father being always around on the news and always busy gave him no time to spend with his father as he had been never around. Throughout his 19 years of life in this planet, he had learned how to take care of himself, his mother dying as he was really young. That had left him devastated, his father not even caring as he had missed the funeral.

Ken shook the depressing thoughts out of his troubled head and stood up. He was laying on his bed, almost late for school. He walked to the bathroom, his father as always missing, and washed his face before brushing his teeth and applying deodorant. He walked back to his room, dressing in black jeans, a Depeche Mode black t-shirt, a leather jacket and black sneakers. He ran downstairs, quickly ate some milk and cereal and raced to his car, grabbing his bag with stuff on the way. He stepped inside Lamborghini, given as a present from his dad because of his excellent grades, and sped into the campus.

Once he arrived, he parked the car and walked inside and to his class. As he was going to enter the room, he couldn't help but looking at the girl who was outside on her own, looking at the random guys and girls that entered. He gave her a flirting look and walked inside, hoping she was on his class.

Olivia smiled back at the boy who had gave her a flirtatious look. She stood up and walked towards him. "Hello." She said and smiled as she walked past him. He was attractive, no doubt about it. She entered the classroom he was heading towards and sat in the back of the room, opening her notebook and doodling in the margins.

She waited to see if he'd enter and before long the professor walked in. He began by introducing himself and discussing what the class would entail. Olivia took notes and glanced up at the professor as he talked. She looked around the classroom and sighed. This class seemed like it was going to be boring, but she needed this course to get her history degree. Soon the professor started handing out the syllabus.

Ken walked in and sat besides Olivia as the class started, ignoring the teacher pleads for him to wait outside. The teacher gave up and let him enter because of his good grades. He looked at how the girl had been doodling on her notebook, loving how she didn't care at all about the subject. He shook his head and looked at the girl, who was quite gorgeous.

"Hi...my name is Ken. What's yours?" he asked gently and chuckled softly. He was ignoring completely the class on the front. His grades were good enough to pass the year, as he never had a problem with grades, being really intelligent with every he was put on the front for him.

Olivia looked up from studying the syllabus. She smiled and looked over at him. "Olivia." She said and brushed her bangs to the side of her round face. "Yours?" Olivia also was doing well in school, having a 3.87 GPA. She put the syllabus down and half listened to the professor.

Olivia's mind wasn't really in the moment, she was mostly planning what she would wear to the charity ball her mother was taking her too over the weekend. It was a masquerade and she was really excited about it. Whule she didn't always dress the part she was quite a fashionista. She snapped out of her daze and focused her attention to the guy next to her.
