Do you know how boring it is to have to guard one of the many Aismao diamond mines? Boring as hell, and being just a simple mercenary doesn't really help matters either. Darren and his army had been called and paid by the Aismao kingdom to guard of their more prominent diamonds, and that is what he often complained about to his second in command, Micah. Nothing ever happened at this job because no one was really dumb enough to try and actually take over an Aismao diamond. Just planning to do so would be like signing your own suicide note. It was a nearly impenetrable fortress, and would require more than just one army to even push past the thick wooden doors.
Today was like every other wretched day. Another boring day just lounging around in the training room, and showing the new recruits and his men that he could still beat all of them one on one. Darren was a fearsome warrior, even those who don't know his name know him by his face, and most won't even dare to fight him. He is an expert at hand to hand combat, but his quite handy with a sword if need be. He had just landed a finishing blow on one of the new recruits who thought he was all tough when the alarm suddenly started ringing throughout the outpost. Micah came bursting into the room, and rushed over to Darren "Sir, the army from Girard kingdom was just spotted heading towards us!"
Darren just smiled at this news, and barked at one of his warriors to bring him his armor "Tell the archers to line up at the top of the hill and pick off as many as they can. Once they get within our perimeter, all but one infantry to attack them head on. The other will hang back just incase they do manage to break through our lines," the solider that he had told to go get his armor returned with Darren's helmet, and he plucked it from his hands before putting it on "I have been waiting a long time for this."
Darren's archers had manged to thin out the Girard's numbers quite a bit, and his infantry all joined together for a massive battle cry as they rushed towards them. Darren was amongst those who rushed in alongside his troops as he wasn't about to miss having a chance to battle. His sword landed the first casualty of this battle, and he spent the next ten minutes cutting down and dodging every enemy that came near him. He was laughing like a madman as he did so, and it was obvious that he was enjoying the bloodbath that he was causing.
