Gemâs life wasnât one of ease and comfort, no it was the opposite. Her pain had started at the age of seven when her father died. A year later her mother remarried out of grief. It had affected her deeply and she became depressed. In the coming years she slowly turned away from her family and turned to a bad crowd. She never got involved in the partying or drugs but they were people that would actually be there for her. Her step-father had seen it as the perfect opportunity to treat her like crap. Noone believed her they only cared about his words.
So here she was standing at the doorstep of her step brother. Sheâd been kicked out and it was really the only way to keep her in school. With a deep sigh she pressed the doorbell and adjusted the small backpack on her shoulders. It only had the things she cared to bring from the house. The rest was with her friends and sheâd get it later.
âCome onâ¦open the doorâ She sighed knowing exactly what to expect.
Her step father had probably told him lies about drug use. Even the story about her friends death would have been twisted and turned against her.
