Violet had a love for animals for as long as she could remember. A gradeschool fieldtrip to a farm many years ago allowed her to bond with a variety of farm animals and there was something about them that made her feel a bit more comfortable to be around rather than humans. Being a city girl, herself, she never had much exposure to her four-legged friends other than the odd house cat and dog growing up. Still, her interest in them never waned. She dreamed of being a vet or a game warden or disaster relief for animals, anything to do with the creatures she formed instant bonds with.
She went to college to study livestock and biology and upon graduation, took out a sizeable loan to buy some property and start a small horse breeding business.
A few years went buy and she had herself a few prize studs that locals would pay good money to have their own animals bred with.
But her interest in Biology led her to start making remarkable breakthroughs, pushing the efficiency and quality of the animals' pregnancies and offspring. One new development in particular could potentially change the way we think about breeding animals, making them more productive than ever before. But her work was quite taxing, and being on the verge of her next major breakthrough, she had to find a way to keep up with the daily chores while still continuing to work.
She needed help. So she posted some ads at the state college in town, her alma mater, and help wanted ads in the paper.
Help Wanted: Breeder's Assistant. Long hours and backbreaking work. Pay is competitive. Duties include feeding, grooming, and cleaning up after animals. Other duties as required. Please call anytime.
The calls began coming in soon enough. She lined up a few interviews and told the interviewees to come ready to work, in case they were chosen. They were all pretty promising candidates but as Violet's research came to a close, she was starting to see that her new employee would need to be very specific indeed, if they were to truly be of any help...
And the last interviewee would be showing up soon.
