Hello there, this thread is currently a work-in-progress. Its purpose is, to create a whole "universe", wherein lots of different stories, from small to epic, can happen.
Thus, it will change over time. If you have any cool ideas, whether it be a big or a little contribution, do not hesitate to PM, and to work with me on it!

Update May 12, 2014: nearly complete. The name of the Species still missing.
As said, lots of stories are possible. Not all of them have to center around the grand, main story. It can also be about normal people within this society, experiencing the dawn of a new(final?) age. And whatever you can think of.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The story centers around a solar system in a distant galaxy, a few million lightyears from ours, and takes play about 4 billion years before our present time. This solar system though is much larger than Earth´s system, which is due to its giant main star, approximately 12 times larger than our sun. It has 23 planets, some gas giants, but mostly rock planets. Those planets are by itself nothing spectacular, harboring the same elements like iron, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, helium and whatnot. So pretty much what you could expect.

But there is one element, which seemingly exists nowhere else in the entire universe(while of course you can´t be sure, as the universe is....big). You can find it everywhere, in stardust, in the planets athmospheres, in the soil, in the oceans, even in the very cells of every living being there. Therefore, this element got the name "Ubiquitium". And while Ubiquitium can´t be harvested like a metal for instance, or any other raw resource, it literally consists within all life, and also all non-organic substances in that solar system - having a drastic influence on it.

Allthough scientists have no definite and final proof, it is common believe that Ubiquitium was brought there by the supernova of that systems former second star. It was much smaller than its main star, about Earth´s sun´s size, but this secondary star was unique. Many people believe it consisted purely of Ubiquitium and so its supernova spread that element within the whole system, and a bit beyond.
That supernova was about 500 million years ago.(So, 4.5 billion years from Earth´s present time).

Now the influence of Ubiquitium, among many other strange things, was that life developed very fast. And not only that. Metals for instances never rusted, and were more sturdy than usual.

500 Million years after that supernova, when the planets movements around their main star had stabilized, on the largerst rock planet, a first humanoid species did appear. And thanks to Ubiquitium, within only a couple of ten-thousand years, this species emerged into a highly developed civilization, A LOT more sophisticated than current mankind.
(note: the species name and the planets name are currently undefined)

Surprisingly, this species looks a lot like humans on the outside. Two arms, hands, legs, eyes, about the same height, even their skin "looks" much like human skin. Nature did obviously not felt the need to make something extravagant here. But thats about it on similarities.
Their inner physique is as much a sign of their superiority as their civilization. Their brain is only slightly larger than human´s , but differed in 4 segments, and contrary to humans they use nearly 100% of its capacity. Naturally, this results in a very high intelligence, and while they are not telepathic, their high intelligence and empathy would make it seem like it to outsiders.
They also have a second heart, which is slightly smaller than the primary one. They could survive with only one, basically, but both of them together provide the body with much more energy and endurance. Also, they have an increased lung capacity, and many many more specifications that a common human would find....cool.

Having Ubiquitium in their very cells, furthermore had the effect, that this species at its current peak usually got between 400 and 500 years old. Deseases, especially severe ones were quite rare, thanks to that advantage. Also thanks to that, while still having a highly developed medicinical standard, genetic engineering was never an issue for them.
The species had even a pretty high resistance to radiation.
But by no means they were immortal. They would still die of old age at some point, or could get killed.

Their current population is about 5 billion people. Being technologically extremely advanced, it was only natural they now were a space-faring civilization, so space or resources weren´t an issue in any kind.
They usually only got children every 50 to 100 years. Twins or triplets births were the regulary though in that even.

Except for the very beginning of this species, there also was no war ever.
There was just no need for it. Everyone had whatever he/she wanted, and the freedom to become, in terms of a profession or a hobby, whatever he/she wanted to. Thus, among the various branches of science and miliatry, they had a huge variety of entertainment and art.
The central government did only as much regulation as was absolutely necessary. Crime was not existing.

Oh, and about their space travels: Their ships were really, really fast, but still - the universe is really, really....big. They did not found, so far, any other developed humanoid civilizations in their galaxy.

So, all in all, a species at its peak, with nothing more one could wish for.
But clouds were gathering at the skies of eternal sunshine....

This species was not only at its peak from a civilizational standard point of view. They were also evolutionary at their peak. It was clear to their scientists, that with all the medicine they had, they would not get any older than their current 400 to 500 years lifespan.
Naturally, they still were researching on a way, and this brought this species first ever conflict to the horizon - and potentially their last...

It started slow, subtile, as after some hundred years of reasearch, two very promising ways crystallized itself out of the many theories.
The first one was, even to those sophisticated people, quite a sensation. A group of researchers made the final proof, that through a special traing, people could use the Ubiquitium within their cells to ascend to a higher form of existence, where they would keep their individual conciense but exist as a form of pure energy, thus giving up their physical bodies. They had only achieved a partial ascension so far, but were confident to be able to go all the way.

Another group preferred the use of cybernetic implants, to replace those parts of the body, which would eventually fail of old age, thus practically being able to live endless, much as group one, but keeping their physical bodies.

Group One believed, that Ascencion would only be the final, most natural step in this species´s evolution, and that transforming partially into a cyborg wasn´t really nature´s will.
Group Two on the other hand, had no objections against Ascencion, but believed in the freedom of choice, for those who rather wanted to remain a life with a physical form.

And what started as a harmless argue, got, ever so slowly, worse.....

RE: Looking for VoiceChat roleplay (Skype?)!

I'm down for skype rp I can give that a shot. I am a 25 year old male. RP doesnt necessarily mean my character will consent to sexual advances. Good luck, have fun there.

Anyway, I searched for maddi on skype and it's a super popular name. Just look for 'doc.mako'. Thanks.
