he could see it now. The bright, multicolored lights of the stage flashing and shining across the stage, the crowd going absolutely nuts, thousands of people chanting and signing along as best they could. It was a beautiful scene.

Of course, this big dreamy scene had yet to take an actual fruition and reality for Mason O'leary and his band The Gravdiggers. So far, they'd managed one modest hit, and the biggest venue they'd played at was nothing more than a free outdoor concert in the local park. This, in between lineup changes and a brief period of band drama, led to his big dreams...being a ways off. However, this did n't stop him for living the life of a rock star, at least to a degree.

In terms of looks, Mason kept his black hair short, preferring to ink himself up and pierce more than just his ears. His green eyes usualy glowed a little when he was on stage and his presence was of a tough guy, someone who could take on the world and give zero rat tails about what other people thought of him. He was above average height wise, standing 5'10 and he wieghed about 170 lbs. On his left arm, frm his shoulder to his elbow, was a tattoo of a fire breathing dragon, complete with tongues of orange fire shooting from it's mouth. The dragon had black scales and green eyes. On his right arm, in the same place a picture of a krkaen, a gigantic sea monster with many tentacles, stood out. Covering the upper portion of his back was a gigantic wolf, with grey fur and red eyes howling at a moon which was centered on his shoulder blade. The wolf had some saliva, which the artist hadn't meant to draw but left there, coming out of it's mouth, which made it all the more intimidating. he'd even managed to give himself some eels that crawled from his wrists to his hands. At the time, Mason had been trying for "creepy" but it came out less than he'd hoped. His ears were pierced, as mentioned, with two small silver earnings, he also had a nose ring and his left eyebrow pierced. Altogether? Badass.

This particular Friday, concert day, meant that tonight would be a late night. When Mason awoke in the morning, before he left to join the band and practice one final time, he gave his cat, Katherine or Kitty as he called her, some food, milk and a tummy rub for good luck. The large gray cat adored the attention, but was clearly saddened that her human was going to leave for a long time...again. She tried, futily, to prevent Mason from leaving, but got scooped up and gently set back down away from the door for her troubles and meows and sad kitty faces. Mason had finally squatted to her level and said softly,"hey there girl, you know I have to go for a while today, but I'll be back, promise okay?" he spoke as if she could understand him and though she still did not look pleased, Kitty went off to find a ball of yarn or one of her few toys to play with.

Mason had arrived at the studio, in relative good time and the band had generally played through their set of four ongs well, proving that this concert might be the one to finally solidify the lineup for the long term. The twist, for tonight at least, was the final song. It was as yet untitled and Mason had come up with the idea that they would hold a bit of a fan poll for titles. Whoever was the most creative, would get the credit for the title on the next album. This was well-received; even though most titles would be utter garbage, everyone was hopeful there would be one or two eople creative enough to come up with something original.

The band collectively decided to make it a surprise, one night, announcement. Though, they did at least mention a "surprise" at that night's show in their online posts that afternoon. once the practice had concluded, they al piled into the VW bus that served as their concert transportation and drove to the theater often called; among other things, "The Dome".

It was Friday night and quiet, innocent Allie was going to do something that was way beyond her character; she was going to a concert just for the fun of it. Allie Jones was a seemingly innocent 20 year old. She grew up in a modest household and had worked hard to get into the best college in the state, but all that hard work came at a price. Allie wasn't the most popular girl and even as she started college, she found it hard to really put herself out there and meet new people. Things were starting to change though, she made it a priority to be more bold because if she didn't, life was just going to pass uneventfully by her.

She stood in the mirror, looking at her 5'3, petite frame. Her long red hair cascading in curls around her shoulders and down her back. Her brilliant blue eyes looked over her attire, which was a pair of jeans and a fitted black tee. She had her best jeans on, the ones that accentuates her curvy hips and firm butt. "Okay Allie, you can do this!" She said to herself. She was going to a concert tonight at The Dome and it was going to be fun. She probably would see some fellow classmates there and she would make an effort to introduce herself and start up conversations, rather then going unnoticed.

Leaving her apartment around 9, she drove to The Dome. Parking was more than a hassle and when Allie finally found a spot, she had to hurry to get inside. It was a pretty decent crowd and everyone talked amongst themselves while they waited for the band to start. She didn't really know much about the band that was playing, but from a few passerby on campus, they were decent enough. Allie found her way to the middle of the crowd and center from the stage.

Her attention was caught by the band as they made their way to the stage and made sure that everything was seemingly in order. Her eyes went to one particular band member. He was hard not to notice, his features were striking and so were his tattoos on his arms. Allie watched him intently as he set about on stage, making sure that everything was ready. No one knew this about Allie, but she too, had a tattoo. She had gotten a Celtic symbol inked on the lower right side of her back, just above her hip. It was a birthday present to herself because she had always wanted one. Her family didn't even know about it.

Sound check had gone smoothly enough. Mason and the rest of the band ensuring that their instruments were all in order and all the electrics were working properly. the lead singer figured he wouldn't see anyone he knew, at least he hoped not there. He couldn't help but notice the tiny, cute redhead in the center of the mass of people; but, for the time being, all he gave her a smile and an I see you out there nod. He briefly wondered if he'd seen her somewhere before, maybe she'd been backstage once or twice...but he couldn't remember. He pushed the though away and blew kisses to the crowd, just because he could, reserving one specifically for the girl who was clearly looking at him.

Before the set started, and when he was certain that everything was in order, mason made his announcement," Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a surprise for you all tonight! Our last song...we love it, we've practiced it, but there's something missing...so! We're giving you a chance to help us name it. We'll all be backstage after the show, bring us your most creative title...maybe we'll use it...maybe we'll even put YOUR name on the next album! How do ya like that?" Most of the crowd went nuts, as they should have and Mason tok it all in.

The songs went about as well as could be expected for a place such as The Dome, anyway, which had a terrible sound system and lights that did not rotate or strobe. They did not do anything cool unfortunately. But, it worked. maybe with this, they could all move up in music world, use this to get some radio play; maybe they could finally go on a bigger tour than around the state. Once everything was said and done, and the stage hands cleaned up the stage; the band went to the back, where three long tables had been set up. One of these was filled with t-shirts, programs and other merch. The other two had lined sheets of paper which were there for the purpose of writing down various titles.

It was at the table in the very center of the room, with it's white rectangle lights and old gym like smell, that mason decided to sit. he was expecting a mob of fans, sure, but he was partially curious if the girl from earlier would show up and if she'd have anything creative to add to the discussion. If not...well, that was okay, maybe they could get to know each other better.

Allie blushed as the band member spotted her looking at him, but she didn't tear her gaze away. She smiled back at him, feeling a bit awkward that he probably got looked at like this all the time. She, nonetheless, allowed herself to enjoy it; maybe she would never see this guy again, but that didn't matter, all the matter was that she was enjoying herself and taking the time to have fun. Playfully she grabbed the kiss that he blew to her and slipped it in her pocket for later.

She listened intently on the band's announcement. It was a good idea to have a fan come up with the title to their last song. Allie thought about including herself in that, but she didn't know much about the band to offer any insight. She would have to hear the song first, but even then, she probably wasn't going to enter in the contest. The crowd seemed to like the announcement as a few of the people around her started shouting out a few titles even without hearing the song; they wanted their fifteen minutes of fame she guessed.

Allie rocked out with the crowd as the concert went on. She was pushed around a few times because she was so petite compared to the brawling guys that stood around her, but she managed to hold her own. The band was quite good, at least Allie thought so. She wondered way she hadn't heard of them before, but didn't pay too much attention to that thought. There were no special effects or awesome light tricks, it was just a concert where the audience got to listen to some good music. It might have been a bit old school, but Allie enjoyed it.

The crowd started to disperse as the show ended. A few people walked off toward the back to enter into the contest. Allie enjoyed their final song and decided to enter the contest. At the very least, she'd get to see the lead singer one more time before the night was over. She entered the small starkly lit room. It had a funky smell which reminder her of a locker room or something. She got in line behind a few people at the center table. As she waited her turn, she thought about the lyrics. The song was mostly about having one last chance at life; it was symbolic of course and could mean different things to different people. It was a rather catchy tune as Allie hummed the melody to herself momentarily.

Once it was her turn, she fixed her eyes on the lead singer who sat behind the table that had all the potential titles. She smiled shyly at him and approached the table. She tucked a few strands of hair behind her hair and grabbed the pen in front of her. She wrote down her entry title, "What you Make of It." She then smiled once more at the hot rock star and took a seat on one really used sofa that sat off to the side of the room with the other entry contestants.

Mason, being so tall, could see her coming. He was...excited. But, he was also nervious, what if she came up with a terrible title? what if she wasn't eh least bit creative? What if she wrote down her phone number instead of a title? Okay...he was kinda hoping for the last one, but still...it was a possibility he couldn't exactly ignore. He smiled right back at her as she wrote down her title. There were a few other entrants, three to be fair, and they sat on a designated couch, which looked about to collapse from all their weight.

Mason brough the sheet to the band and they conferred quietly. Two titles were knocked out immediately as too generic or cliche. A third was gone because another, bigger, better band had a song with the same title. No one wanted a lawsuit. In the end, "What you make of it" had the most positive votes. Mason smiled, he knew who had written that title. he looked across to the name section and frowned...there wasn't a name there to call out. He sighed, he supposed he'd have to learn her name the hard way then.

he called out,"Attention contest entrants! The winner of our little title contest is....the person that wrote down What you make of it! Please, step forward and claim your prize!"

It was cheesy, but the band had put together a small goodie bag for the winner, which included one t-shirt, one copy of their cd, which Mason would sign with whatever inscription they wanted, and assorted other small items. he waited for the tiny girl to step forward and introduce herself. Everyone, at least the band members, was currently clapping and he joined in. He had a big toothy grin on his face and clearly was excited to meet her, but Mason was also restraining himself. He didn't want to come off as "overly-creepy" or weird.

Thus, a simple and straightforward introduction would have to do.

As soon as Allie sat down, she realized that she hadn't put her name down on the sheet. She felt like such an idiot because she was too focused on the hot lead singer to read what the directions called for. She didn't get up to fix the mistake though. She assumed that her title would win anyway. She waited with the other contestants on the couch. The couch smelled funny and those who sat on it knew it too. They all exchanged smiles and told each other good luck. Allie sat on the left end of the couch, she was petite enough to fit between the arm of the couch and the person sitting to her right.

When the band announced the winner, everyone looked at each other. There was no name called because there was no name given. Allie flushed because she was the winner. She got up, tucking her hair behind her ear and came forward to claim her prize. The other contestants groaned and frowned, but then started to join in on the clapping. As Allie stood in front of the band, she looked up at them, "I forgot my name, sorry about that. It's Allie, Allie Jones." She felt everyone looking and smiling at her and she couldn't help but blush. Once the clapping died down, the goodie bag was handed to her, which she took gratefully. She still couldn't believe that she won and as she looked back at the contestants that started to leave, she figured that she was the least qualified because she probably knew the least about the band.

"You don't look like our usual fan," one of the band members chimed in. Allie smiled sheepishly at him, "heh, I've only learned about you guys just recently, I guess you could call this beginner's luck!" She gestured to the bag in her hand.

Allie. Allie Jones, she said. Mason thought that sounded a little on the bland side, but then again, he had an Irish last name...and he didn't take much from the Irish traditions, except maybe the ability to hold his liquor well. He managed a smile and noticed that the girl was blushing, obviously because she'd won and didn't feel the least bit worthy of the prize. Mason, clearing his throat to grab her attention, said,"What do you want the autograph to say...on the cd I mean? Anything special?. Some people wnated their name a certain way or wanted certain sayings, he figured she was one such person.

Mason reached out a hand for the CD and grabbed and uncapped a sharpie. He wrote what she asked him to and handed the disk back to her and smiled once more. Mason said,"Allie huh? That's...pretty, but a little boring, if you ask me. You looked more like...hmmm...I would have pegged you for a Katlin or a Erin. Missy even. But, eh it's whatevs. So, Allie Jones, how did you get here? Car, bus, walk? If you have the time maybe you'd like to go out for a milkshake or something?"

Mason was unsure whereall that had come from, but he was feeling bold tonight, partly becuase of the crowd, partly becuase of what he thought he saw in her eyes. He thought she liked him, he thought...she wanted to be with him...closer anyway. How far it would all go, he wasn't sure of. But a simple drink and chat would do. it couldn't hurt to ask.

Now, he just had to wait for he response.

Allie hadn't thought about what the autograph should say, she didn't even know that she was supposed to come up with something, but Mason should there, pen in hand, waiting for her to say something. "Uh, how about, "here's to beginner's luck!" She shrugged her shoulders and got a few chuckles from the rest of the band. She smiled politely at them all, not knowing what else to say. They probably expected her to be drooling all over them, but like she mentioned, she just learned of them so she wasn't a crazed fan. They were probably disappointed about that, in fact all the rest of the guys except Mason, walked about and started doing other things.

Allie smiled and took the CD back. She was surprised by his forwardness to ask her out. "Well Allie is short for Alexa. My mom didn't like thinking that people might call be Alex, so she started calling me Allie and it just stuck." She blushed at the fact that she was sharing some personal information about herself. Mason was really attractive, even more so now that she got a closer look at him. She wasn't thrown off by his boldness, just surprised. "I drove here since I live across town and yeah, I have some time." She smiled sweetly at him, feeling that it was a good thing that she entered the song naming contest because she got herself a date out of it.

This was new to her. She had just attended her first rock concert and now she was hanging out with the band's lead singer after the show. She idly thought that this was something that Mason did a lot; pick up girls at the concert and take them out, though Allie was perplexed with the "milkshake" idea. It seemed a little 1950's, but she would go along with it. With her prize in hand, she looked into his eyes, "Milkshakes sound good!" She didn't keep his gaze because she was starting to blush and had to look away.

Mason returned her smile and wrote what she'd asked him to adding a heart and his name to it. It was perhaps a cheesy romantic ploy, but still...she obviously liked hanging out with him and agreed to go out. He admitted, after listening to what she had said,"I...I suggested milkshakes because...well they soothe my throat and...I don't know if you can drink legally or not...so..." Mason came around from behind the table, noting that his bandmates were in their "he's probably gettin some" mode and quietly going about things.

He held out his hand towards her and waited to see if she'd take it. As much as his stage presence required them, mason sometimes felt, as now, very shy and afraid of messing things up. Allie was nto just another girl he could bed and then kick out. She was different, special somehow, thus Mason frowned viably at all his tattoos and wished that he could simply go home and shower them all away. But that wasn't possible and he knew that. Thus, eh would have to live them for the rest of his life, because he was not going to get them removed. That would be far too painful and expensive.

His lonely side was showing and mason knew it. Allie blushed and turned away from looking at him, internally, he did much the same. He knew where this would end, they'd say goodbye, he might get a kiss out of it, but that would be it. She'd be gone and he'd never see her again. He'd goback to the way things were and had been for a while. Another girl who wanted to bang him becuase of what he was, not who he was.

Mason remained quiet as he let her lead him out to her car, there...wasn't much he wanted to say really. He simply had thoughts of spending another night alone in his apartment, petting Katherine while she purred; which was comforting, but got old far too quickly anymore. She couldnt' talk to him and though it alway seemed she understood how he felt, she couldn't comfort him aside from laying on top of his legs and keeping him warm at night. Mason sighed and shook his head, hoping that this time would be different, this time he might acutely get the chance to get know Allie a little better. Maybe she'd want to go out again.

Allie playfully frowned at Mason's comment about not knowing if she could legally drink. She didn't look that young, she was 21 after all. "I will have you know that I am of age, I turned 21 last November," she then took his hand as he offered it to her. She noted his tattoos and stared at them intently. Though she didn't have any herself, she was always intrigued to hear the stories behind the tattoos, even the ones that were inked because the person was drunk and thought it a good idea at the time.

As they made their way out to her car, still hand in hand, Allie noted Mason's quietness. She thought it odd for someone who was a lead singer of a band to be so introverted and quiet off stage. She didn't feel like she could lead the conversation, but she didn't like the quietness either, so she mustered up the courage to break the silence. "Did that hurt?" She motioned to the nose ring. She winced a little, thinking that it must've, but Mason looked like a strong enough guy to take the pain of getting his skin pierced.

The walk to the far was a bit far from The Dome, but eventually they got there. "Well. here we are," she let go of Mason's hand so that she could walk over to the passenger side. She got behind the wheel, fastened her seatbelt and headed to the nearest ice cream parlor. "I think milkshakes are best since I have to drive myself home." She gave him a polite smile as she drove to the place. Once there, she parked and got out of the car. Once Mason was also out, she grabbed his hand and walked with him into the parlor. The pair must have looked odd together because everyone stared at them. Allie didn't care and took a seat at one of the tables.

"So what kind of ice cream soothes the throat best?" She was visibly more relaxed now that the introductions were out of the way. Allie didn't see Mason as some rock god that she was lucky to get to spend time with. Yes, she felt lucky, but only because there was something different about him that appealed to her and he seemed to feel the same way, or at least that's what Allie told herself.

Mason simple nodded at her answer and frown. S, she was 21 after all. That was fine. It menat she wouldn't mind drinking later...if this got to later. He heard her question and saw her gesture to his nose ring and recalled, briefly, having it done. He answered her with,"Imagine you got your nose pinched really, really hard for twenty minutes, then a bee flew along and stung ya on the nose as you were being pinched. So...did it hurt? Kinda. but it looks bitchin' am I right?"

Their drive was silent and he let her lead the way to the small parlor. She sat down and was clearly happy and excited, which made him happy and excited that this might actually end well. It was also not lost on him that she'd grabbed for his hand when they'd exited the car the second time. He was intrigued, but squirreled away that fact for later. Mason was aware that others' eyes were on him, when were they not really, and he knew he was being judged. Allie probably was, too, but she seemed not to care and he didn't particularly care, either.

He gazed across the small table at her, and answer her question with,"Usually cookies and cream, but I think I'll go for vanilla tonight. Maybe even strawberry." radical choices there dude. Yeah, totally going unique, there. he thought glumly and frowned at himself. Maybe he'd go for Peach or mint or something different after all. Mason sighed softly and wondered just what he was supposed to talk about now. By this point, he was either getting a little drunk or halfway to naked and a bed. But, he was nowhere near either of those and lost for what to talk about.

Masons phone vibrated in his pocket and he removed it from there, glancing at it and muttering, with a concerned look on his face"Oh Katherine, what have you gotten into this time." he touched a few buttons and stared at the small screen, watching his cat finish her bowl of food and milk and begin to cry for more. When she didn't get any (and mason had fast forwarded the previous few minutes of video from his kitty monitor) she began to line up and play with his socks. This drew a laugh out of him and a shake of his head. As he was about to return the phone to his pocket, Mson realized that Allie might get the impression that he, in fact, was possibly dating, and/or married to, someone named Katherine. This cuased him a moment of internal panic. he also realized that she might think he somehow kidnapped a Katherine and was keeping her for ransom, too. So, perhaps it was best just to explain and show pictures and video.

Thus, after a few moments of a tight chest and fast breathing from him, Mason said,"My...my cat, Katherine or Kitty, has decided that my clean socks are her new favorite toy and...in between cries for food and milk...she's...started playing with them." once more, he chuckled and shook his head, wishing that he could somehow tell her to stop and clean the mess she'd already made up, but he could not. Turning his phone so that Allie could see the large gray cat, Mason showed a few pictures of the kitty and also her antics with his socks.

He asked, after turning his phone back towards himself,"Do you have any pets? I mean...I'm...not really sure what to talk about. Umm...what's your...what's your home life like? I mean, this is really your fan time to be a squally, hyper, fan girl, if you want, so go ahead. I don't mind." He patiently waited for her to respond to what she'd now seen and heard.

Allie was intrigued by his choice of ice cream. She wouldn't have pegged him for the cookies n' creme type, but then again, she didn't know this guy from Adam. "Whoa, watch out, we got a rebel here!" She enthused, but lightened it up with a smile and a little chuckle. Allie didn't know why she felt so comfortable to just easily joke with Mason, but she wasn't going to question it, at least not now. "I think I'll go for chocolate chip cookie dough, that's my favorite!" She glanced around the place, noting the eyes that were upon them. She probably thought that the other patrons thought that someone like Allie shouldn't be seen with a guy like Mason, but of course, it was a stereotype and people were always going to assume the worst.

When his phone buzzed and he pulled it out, Allie watched his face. When he muttered the name Katherine, she frowned a bit, thinking that he had a girlfriend or something. She probably should have been confused since he had asked her out to ice cream if he was taken, but he was in a rock band after all. She was really intrigued when he kept his eyes on the screen, then gave out a laugh. Apparently he was watching something and Allie started to feel a little like she was interrupting by just sitting there with him. When he told her what had just happened and who Katherine was, she felt relieved and smiled immediately. "Oh, good, for a second, I thought I was intruding on something!" Allie watched the cat on the screen as Mason showed her his pet's antics. "I would have never pegged you as a cat person, you are full of surprises!" It was sweet that he had a pet and a cat no less. It seemed that Mason did have a soft side to him.

"I do actually and it's one that most people wouldn't think to have." When she left him with just enough suspense, she told him. "It's a ferret and his name is noodle because it's so hard to catch him, reminds me of a wet noodle." She fondly thought of her beloved pet, no doubt that he was by now, out of his cage and roaming her apartment, looking to get into anything and everything. "My home life is normal I guess. I go to school, I'm premed so that takes up a lot of time, but I enjoy my apartment and my ferret." She herself didn't really know what to say. "I really enjoyed the concert. Your band is really good, shame I just barely found out about you guys. If it's okay, can I ask about your tattoos, I like hearing the stories behind people's tats, they're always fun!" She briefly touched his right arm, admiring the ink job. "Oh and your tattoos or piercings don't scare me and since I now know that you own a cat, I know you're just a big softie." She gave him a wink to let him know that she was teasing.

Mason listened to her choice of ice cream and noted that she teased him about that...and more. She was, in fact, worried that Katherine was a girl and he was relieved that she admired his choice of pet. She had a feret, admittedly an odd choice, but she was turning out to be an odd sort of girl. Premed student, going to school every day...yup, she was a "good girl" that explained alot.

He smiled brightly at her teasing of his soft side. He laughed openly and countered with,"Well, you're an odd duck yourself! A feret? Really? Might as well just a Ferby and call it a pet! I can safely say that our pets should never meet each other. Things...might not go well." was this flirting? If it was, it was..odd. But she wanted to hear his tat stories. She'd heard his piercing story, so it was only logical, after all.

Mason thought a moment, pursed his lips, collecting his thoughts, and then spoke," the sea creatures and the dragon all came about at the same time. I...I think they're just fearsome, like my stage personality. Fearless, they can take on anything. I...I was also kinda dating and banging the artist so...ya know, she wanted to work on me after I ...worked on her if you get where I'm going. I havve a wolf on my back, too and that was just...I don't know just somehting I've always wanted. Different artist, but still awesome. I...I really like wolves. I've always wnated one as a pet, but Kitty came along first, so she's all I've got right now."

Mason thought once more on how sad that statment really was. he shook his hand and said,"God, I am suc a loner off-stage. See? You're bringing out the personality that I don't want everyone to see. I mean...my..my other side. Only my cat usually sees this side. She...she understands, or at least I think she does." Mason stopped himself before he dug his hole of loneliness any deeper. He blushed and put his face in his hands.

This was not at all how he envisioned this date going. After a minute or so of covering his face, he uncovered it and said,"I'm sorry. I'm...a hard person to be around, I'm sure. things are different off-stage. For alot of us, the band members I mean. I...I should acutaly probably go order at some point..." and he should to do just that.

"I wouldn't say being an odd duck is a bad thing, so what if I don't follow the norms..." She shrugged her shoulders as she gave Mason an "I don't care what people people think of me" kind of look. It was the truth, Allie always went her own way and though she was completely off the beaten path, she went about thing the way that she felt best to. "Yeah, I doubt we'd ever have a play date with your pets, that would be disastrous!" She let out a giggle, thinking about Noodle getting chased around by a cat that would probably never catch him. He had been around a cat before, but that interaction was uneventful as the cat went and hid from her feret.

Allie listened intently to Mason's tat story. The story behind his dragon and sea creatures was just a label really. He thought it would make him look badass and dangerous, thus that's why he got it. She rolled her eyes at his mention of "banging" the tattoo artist. Typical she thought to herself, but she wasn't offended, hell, she thought it was a bit humorous. Apparently he also had one more tattoo on his back and when he mentioned it, Allie could tell that that tattoo was more important to him than the ones on his arms. He was really saying a lot about himself with the little that he said about his tattoos. She would have asked to see the wolf tattoo, but it would be inappropriate for him to take his shirt off in the middle of the ice cream parlor.

It was really sweet to hear him talk about his cat the way he did, but his tone was a bit sad when he said it. Then when he told her that he was a loner off stage and that she was bringing out a side that he usually didn't let people see, Allie felt a bit sad for him, though she tried not to let him see her pity. "I'm sure your cat understands. Cats are very intuitive creatures. And this side of you isn't bad, I kind of like it." She looked at him as he covered his face, he seemed embarrassed and it was kind of cute to witness from such a physically looking tough guy. "I'm not much of a people person myself, but I am trying to put myself out there, thus that's why I went to the concert tonight." She felt a little nervous revealing all this to him and it should as she fidgeted with her hands and smiled shyly at him.

She reached over and gently squeezed his hand, "No worries and no, you're not a hard person to be around." She hoped that her words helped ease any nervousness that he was having because she was having a good time so far. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea, I am pretty hungry!" She looked at him a moment, then started to laugh. They had spent a good 10 minutes or so inside an ice cream parlor and they were to only ones without any ice cream.

Mason provided a smile and took her hand while he sauntered up to the counter as he thought about what she'd said and how she squeezed his hand. She didn't think he was a hard person to be around and she liked this side of him, well, mason felt pretty special hearing these things. he'd also noticed that she was just as nervous as he was, though she was supposed to be nervious, he wasn't.

Mason, who figured he should perhaps order first, did so,"I want a milkshake. A medium one. You know? I'm feelin' like a rebel tonight. I want a stawberry one. If you guys have, like an extra bowl back there, could you fill it with some cream, too? Or Milk? Thanks" he was sure that Allie could guess who the extra bowl was for. no doubt Katherine would be very pleased that he had arrived safe and sound and wouldn't mind the "treat" even though she'd complete disorganized one of his drawers.

Mason waited patiently for her to order her milkshake and when they'd gotten them he returned to their table, grabbing several napkins as well. Once he'd sat down, he spoke again,"So...now what? I mean...umm...do you have any hobbies? You said you were premed, so you're going to be a doctor someday huh? That's pretty fuckin' awesome, i think." makes me wish i'd actually cared more about school. Shit.he thought immediately after. He wondered what else he'd missed out on "normal life" wise, because of his chosen path.

Mason took a few sips of his shake and took the cherry off of the top and placed it in a napkin. It was indeed yummy and quite soothing to his throat and he breifly wondered if she'd drive him home. He hadn't harmed her, and he didn't see why not, but if meant she might actually have to come to his door and even...kiss him good night. That was, if he was gauging her correctly, something he thought she'd want to do. He had to ask, though,"So, ummm...would you mind driving me home I mean after we're done? Unless...you know you didn't wnat to or something. I mean...I know you drove me here and what not...I just...I don't want to burden you too much." Again mason could feel his awkwardness not disappearing quickly enough and again, he covered his face briefly looked away from her.

Together they made their way to the counter. She still had his hand in hers and it was nice. Mason ordered first, then asked for a bowl of milk or cream. She smiled fondly at him, knowing that his precious kitty was going to get a treat of her own tonight. He was such a good pet owner and it really said a lot of his character. The old saying that opposites attract came into her mind because with how he looked, people would have never guessed that he'd own a fluffy ball of fur.

Allie ordered her chocolate chip cookie dough milkshake and after getting their orders, they went back and sat down. Her milkshake was really think and instead of looking a fool and trying to suck the think fluid from her straw, she let it sit for a minute. "Hobbies, uh let's see. My newest one is going to concerts now! But other than that, I like to do yoga, I like to go to movies, you know, the normal stuff." She shrugged her shoulders because she didn't know what more to say about her hobbies. "Yeah, it's pretty fucking awesome! I actually want to be a surgeon, I think that's the most fascinating thing in the medical world." Her passion for medicine really shone through as she talked about her career.

His rambling was really cute to watch. He did seem nervous around her and she wondered why because Allie didn't think of herself as someone to get all nervous over, but she didn't question it. "Yeah, I'll drive you home, it's no problem, I'd be happy to!" She then tried taking a sip of her milkshake. She sucked until the point where she felt that her cheeks were going to collapse. "Jeez, what did they put in this thing!" Then she began to stir her straw around some more, trying to soften the ice cream.

Mason, chuckling, said,"Ice. Duh. That's why they call it an ice-cream shake. You certainly don't talk like a surgeon. I was expecting you to start rambling off body parts or ways to die or something." Okay, he was steriotyping and he knew it, but Mason winked at her, to let Allie know he was only kidding. Of course, many metal bands looked at a medical textbook thought "double Platinum Album baby!" but Jake had never been given the opportunity.

Slyly, he asked,"So...you mind letting me borrow your textbook? One of them maybe...? Ya know, in case this band doesn't work out." but he again was smiling and winking. mason took a sip of his milk shake and was not afraid to suck such that he made a bit of a slurping noise with his straw. realizing this, and how it might look, he stopped and frowned. He forgot that he was on a date for a moment and said,"Sorry." quietly.

Mason really appreciated Allie's attitude about all of this and her openness and willingness to share with him alot of her life and pets and hobbies. She truly was a different girl. he would have to perhaps change some of his habits for her. Overall, though Mason had very much enjoyed their time together and he was very willing to do it again. Slyly, and hoping she didn't see what he was doing, mason produced a pen from his pocket and wrote his number and "call me :)" on a napkin, folded it up, and put it in his pocket, along with the pen. He'd give that to her at the end of the night. He figured she'd appreciate it.

Allie couldn't help but laugh at him. He was teasing her but doing it in a cute way that she didn't mind at all. "Would you like me to ramble off body parts and what certain conditions do to the body? I am if you'd like me to..." She stopped and smiled widely at him. She liked this teasing back and forth, it was somewhat refreshing. "No, I've learned my lesson about discussing my major with people. I will only do it if they want to hear because I sure can ramble on and on!" She tried her ice cream again and this time it was a success, "finally!" She enthused and began to play catch up with her drink.

"Well I've got many textbooks, what part of the body did you want to study?" She returned his wink with her own. "No, but seriously, premed is all about the books, I've got an entire bookcase dedicated to it, I'll have to show you some time." Allie's face turned a little flush, did she just invite Mason over to her apartment some time? It wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world, but it was bold for Allie. Apparently her filter in her brain was turned off to night and she was just spewing whatever she wanted from her mouth. When his slurping interrupted her thoughts, she smiled at him, "it's cool, milkshakes are meant to be slurped I'd slurp mine but I'm no where near that point!" She still had a good amount left because she had to wait for the ice cream to flaw a little.

They sat there a good while longer, just talking about school and his band. Allie was liking Mason as he continued to share some insight about himself. Allie too was becoming an open book. There was just something about him that she was intrigued by and she wanted to get to know him and hang out with him more. Mason was definitely not the typical guy that Allie would date, at least as far as appearances went, but Allie wasn't superficial and she never judged a book by it's cover. As the night wound down and both their glasses emptied, they paid the tab and headed out. Allie was more than okay with driving Mason home, it'd give them a little more time to spend together. It did feel a little weird because she was the girl and he the guy, so it should have been the other way around, but overall, Allie didn't mind.

When they pulled up to Mason's place, Allie put the car in park and turned off the ignition, "I suppose I should walk you to your door, just to make sure that you get in your apartment safely," she was grinning from ear to ear at Mason. Then she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car. "C'mon, I wasn't kidding," she said before shutting her door. She felt a little nervous rounding the front of the car and allowing Mason to lead them to his front door. As they approached, she wondered if they were going to kiss goodnight, if she should ask for his number or if he even wanted to see her again. She took a silent deep breath with the final steps to the door. "Well I had a really good time; great music, great ice cream and great company." She looked up at him, feeling beyond nervous, she swore that mason could hear her heart thumping away in her chest. She stared at his lips for a moment, wondering how they'd feel, then she averted her eyes.

Mason enjoying her teasing back to him and the rest of the milkshake date banter and food. Once everything was over, including more conversation about school for her and music for him; they headed back to Allie's car. mason was both dreading and looking forward to the trip home. For him, giving directions as she drove, this was going to be where they parted, he was sure of that.

When they arrived, and Allie jumped out of the car, mason followed and they walked together to his door and Allie mentioned that she'd had a good time. it felt odd, really because tings should have been different, but it would be Allie getting her car and going home alone after...whatever happened next. He asked,"You..uh...you wanna come in for some coffee or something? but he figured she'd say no, she had to get back. So, he leaned down kissed her, softly pressing his lips to hers for a moment or two. he didn't know her well enough to kiss he longer, but he did gently stroked his face with his hands; momentarily forgetting that he had written down his number for her.

When he had softly broken the kiss, Mason turned to unlock his door and opened it, before he realized he had forgotten his little note. He turned back and called,"Allie wait! I...I have..." when he was interrupted by a large gray, purring kitty jumping onto him as if she hadn't seen him in five years. Katherine used her weight and her paws to just about suction herself to Mason and rubbed his neck gave him feline kisses.

Mason, surprised more than anything, said,"I have...a large gray cat that wants to say hi and go home with you. But, I also have...a little something I think you should...open later." By this point, Katherine had begun to smell the cream still sitting in the bowl and was clearly excited and anxious to get in the bowl; but she could not climb down low enough to and pop open the top, so she instead clung to her owner and began to meow for the bowl to be opened.

Thus, trying to keep his kitty from falling and hurting herself had one of Mason's hands were tied up, gently stroking her while the other had set the bag on his inside table and was fishing out the folded up napkin. Once he had; though it took some effort, he held it out for Allie to take. he said, more to his cat then to her,"this is my new friend Allie, say hi! Can you do that? say hi!" But all Katherine's look to Allie said was, I'm hungry and he's not feeding me. Please help me.

Finally, fed up with her feline cling, Mason set his kitty down on his floor, where she immediately straightened her tail and stalked off for the kitchen to await the bringing of the cream. Mason, turning red once more, said,"Sorry, she's...not usually so noisy like this. I mean...I've had to leave before for a long time, but she's usually asleep or more mellow, i don't know what's got her so excited tonight." He was delaying Allie's journey home, he knew that but he stepped inside his apartment anyway, leaving her room to come in if she wanted to.

She was about to kindly decline his offer to come inside, then he leaned down and kissed her. She definitely didn't expect that to happen so soon. Allie moved her lips against his and when she felt his hands come to her cheeks and caress them softly, she wanted to lean into the kiss more, but he pulled away. She stood there staring at him doe eyed, unable to say anything for a moment. When the sounds of him unlocking his door interrupted the silence, Allie came to and was about to turn and leave when he called out to her. She stopped and looked at him just in time to see his cat jumped straight into his arms and cling to his front. She couldn't help but laugh at the view.

He had something to give her and she was curious as to what it was. She stood there looking fondly at the cat as Mason struggled to pull something out of his pocket. It was a little difficult as the cat required Mason's attention and the use of one of his arms. Allie took the folded napkin, but didn't open it, instead she put it in her back pocket for later. Allie waved hi to the cat, feeling a bit silly because the cat wasn't going to wave back. Apparently the cat knew that Mason had something for her, probably because she could smell the cream from a mile away.

Once Mason set her down on the floor, Mason followed his cat into the house, leaving the door wide open for Allie to come on in. She stood at the entrance, then took a few steps inside once she felt obliged to. "It's okay, it's cute that she's so affectionate with you," she offered to his statement. Mason's apartment was not what she had expected of a rock star. He was a pretty clean guy and had a good sense of taste in decor. Allie was delaying her departure. As much as she would have liked to stay, she knew that she probably shouldn't. She had exams to prepare for in the coming week, "well I should get going, thanks again for the milkshakes!" Once Mason was back standing in front of her, Allie leaned in and kissed him on the kiss, "see ya," she smiled at him then turned on her heels to leave.

Her drive home was uneventful and she made it home safely. She was greeted by Noodle, who made it a routine to crawl up her leg and back to rest on her shoulder. Allie pulled out the folded up napkin that Mason had given her. She smiled as she read the phone number. She stood there a moment longer just staring at the note. It was silly but it meant a lot of her. She would definitely be giving Mason a call in the near future. She was glad that he thought to give her his number because on the way home, Allie realized that they hadn't exchanged numbers and it was going to be a bit hard to contact him if she wanted to see him again. It was now apparent that he had every intention of wanting to see her again and that made Allie happy.

Allie spent most of Saturday morning prepping for her exams. She had three exams lined up on Wednesday and Thursday and though she felt pretty confident in her knowledge, she'd rather study a bit more and be safe than sorry. Her stomach started to growl around 2 in the afternoon and she waltzed over to the fridge. She was about to open it and rummage through the leftovers, when Mason's note that she had put on the fridge, caught her eye. She smiled and pulled her phone out of her pocket. Instead of calling him though, she sent him a text, "Hey, it's Allie. I was going to go grab a bite to eat at the Italian deli of 4th street, would you want to join me? Oh and do you need a ride?" She pressed the send button and waited for a response.
