New Neighbor Redux (HotTexasCowboy & Shadow Angel)

The moving van appeared early on a Saturday morning. Two Hispanics and a black man opened the rear doors, set up a ramp, and started moving in boxes and plastic wrapped furniture in through the open garage and the front door. Before long, another car drove up and another black man got out to help and direct the others on where things should go. The newcomer was taller than the other workers, and his body seemed almost overly fit even for such a physical job. His handsome features were topped by close-cut black hair, but was otherwise clean shaven.

At a break, the other three men sat down in the shade and sipped soft drinks, while the newcomer took a leisurely walk around the house, carefully gazing at the walls, windows, garden plots and fences. The house was not unknown to him; he had been here before, toured it, considered the neighborhood, and studied its history. There was more to him than his appearance; he was a careful researcher.

At one point, a neighbor's young boy stepped up to the lower rung of their mutual fence and shouted across in the excitement of an otherwise typical weekend day. "Hey, Mister," the boy asked, "Do you know who's moving in here?"

The man smiled. "I do," he answered with a playful tone. "It's me. I'm the one moving in."

The boy looked surprised. "You? But you're a negro!" he said, as if stating something profound. So far, all his friends and neighbors had been other whites. "Hey, you got any kids?" came the next question, getting, for an eleven year old boy, to the heart of things.

The newcomer shook his head sadly. "'Fraid not, neighbor. It'll be just me, but maybe we'll see if something can be done about that." He grinned and winked and moved on about his inspection.

By late that afternoon, Garrett Loomis was sweating as much as the movers. It wasn't like him not to pitch in to physical labor, and he had some furniture pieces he wanted to be sure weren't damaged in the move. At three, he'd opened his shirt, revealing the strongly-toned pecs and hard, lean stomach of an athlete, which he had been. At six-two, some of his teammates had labeled him "Giant", but as a tight end, his height and conditioning had served him well. He had earned good money in a six year career, but what few of his colleagues in pro football knew was that, in the off-season, he labored at his manual typewriter, tapping out pages of his first novel.

The mystery, set in the locker rooms and managerial suites of pro sports, reeked with authenticity and originality, and had been a modest hit. The fact that his 'hero' was a black man on the team, dealing with the pressures of the game and random encounters of racism only added to the novel's appeal. Loomis had written one sequel and was at work on a third. Professional sports and a writing career let him look for nicer digs, and he'd always wanted a nice house in a nice neighborhood, with room for some gardening and maybe one of those hot tub thingies. His Alabama accent was still pretty strong, but he had taken his education seriously, at his widowed (and now passed) mother's constant insistence.

By five, the movers were done, the truck loaded up and driven away. Garrett was left to unpack boxes and set up the house as he wanted. He designed one bedroom as his writing center, with a desk for his typing and several bookshelves of research. On the second floor, it looked out into his backyard, where he hoped he'd enjoy the view of a garden to come. It also peeked over the fence on both sides. While he hadn't met any neighbors, he figured the curious boy next door would be spreading the word of the new man on the street.

Ashley Cartwright was the woman everyone talked about in the supermarket, the woman everyone wanted to be. She'd come from a good family had married young, never had children. It wasn't 'cause she didn't want them; she did, but every time she tried to get pregnant something always went wrong. Then her marriage fell to the wayside. She was now single, loving it to an extent, but she always felt lonely. Baking was what she loved to do; she'd baked a batch of brownies a few hours earlier. Looking out the living room window she noticed lights on in the house across the street. She wanted to be neighborly.

Ashley put the brownies in a tightly sealed container, walked across the street, dressed modestly for someone of her stature. She walked up onto the porch, took a deep breath, reached up to knock on the door, knowing this would be the new gossip of the town. But she'd gotten used to the gossip, often ignored it; besides, if he was of color, it wouldn't bother her. The young woman, well, she wasn't that young but young enough, had been raised to believe people were all equal, so skin color and religion were the things she knew not to judge.

Garrett had taken a quick shower and put on a pair of running shorts and one of his old football jerseys. He wasn't expecting to go out, nor was he anticipating company. He figured he had enough sandwich material on hand to get through dinner tonight, and then he'd make a run to find a grocery store and stock up in the morning.

But a knock on the front door surprised him as he was setting up bookshelves in his writing center. "Hmm," he muttered in curiosity, trotting downstairs and taking a quick look through the front door window to see a fetching white woman waiting. Well, it ain't the Klan, he smiled to himself. He opened the door with his best smile.

"Well, good evening to you, Ma'am. How do you do? What can I do for you this fine, warm evening?" he greeted her. His Alabama accent was blatant, but no more so than a lot of the residents in the town, he figured. Just more black.

"It is a nice evening Anyways, I brought you over some brownies. My own recipe, I hope you like them. I'm Ashley, I live next door. Welcome to our town," Ashley said as she placed a strand if hair behind her ear. She could already notice some people staring but she didn't care. The blond woman was used to the stares, the gossip. She also knew her bubbly personality was a trait some men found very annoying, which is why she hadn't dated in awhile. She was about five - four, somewhere in there, but didn't weigh more then 120-135, which made her very petite. As she waited for him to say something she bit her lip, looked down at the floor of the porch, then looked into his eyes. Ashley didn't concern herself with the little details, to her he was attractive. She missed being with a man.

He welcomed her gesture with a wide, friendly smile. "Why thank you, Ashley. I appreciate this, I truly do. My name is Garrett, Garrett Loomis. It's great to have a friendly face as my neighbor." He reached for the brownies, realizing he was taller than her, but frankly, he was taller than a lot of people, at six - one. But she had a vivacious air about her, and with her blond hair and nice, petite figure, she was certainly appealing. "These look delicious." He glanced behind him, and also aware of some attention from the windows of other houses on the block.

"The house is still a bit messy, I'm afraid. I've still got some arranging to do to get fully moved in. But If you can be forgiving, I'd love to share a brownie with you and start getting to know the neighborhood. If you'd be willing to step in for a few minutes..." There was a time, not too long ago, when a black man inviting a white woman alone into his house could get him lynched. In some places, it was still possible. Garrett wasn't trying to start out with controversies, but he did want to be as neighborly as possible if race wasn't a factor. He was fully prepared for her excuses, and would accept them as just the way things were.

''I'd love to come in, it's quite alright; my house isn't too clean either,'' Ashley said as she walked passed him, walked inside. She looked around the place, smiled a little, remembering the people that lived in it before they either moved to another town or passed on; she couldn't remember, it'd been awhile. She would let him give her the tour. She closed the door behind her like any good person would, then smiled. Ashley didn't need an excuse, she didn't use racial slurs; she was raised to treat everyone equally. His skin color made him even more attractive to her. When the time came, she would let him know how friendly she could be, but until then she was content with just being his neighbor.

The young blond waited for him to say something else. She was admiring how well he looked in his shorts and old jersey, realizing she hadn't given him her full name. ''I'm sorry I forgot to tell you my last name. Ashley. Ashley Cartwright. I think my little brother used to watch you play football on television,'' she said once his name registered. She remembered the phone call from her brother when the man retired from football. Ashley didn't like the sport, didn't really care for it; but, of course, her little brother always confided in her. Shaking her head she pushed all that away, smiled at him, hoping she hadn't come off as too perky or bubbly, 'cause she was a very optimistic person.

Ashley had breezed through his door without hesitation, leaving Garrett to make a good-natured shrug and close the door behind them. While she'd been holding out the brownies, he'd noted the lack of a wedding band on her finger, so he figured her for not married. "There's a breakfast nook down the hallway and to the right, next to the kitchen, Miss Cartwright," he said, motioning for her to lead the way. "Although, if you're this friendly with all the neighbors, you've probably been in here more often than I have, with my predecessors." He followed her down the brief corridor, his eyes not being able to resist admiring her feminine sashay of her nicely shaped rear end before him.

"If your brother knew me in football, he must have followed the game closely," he smiled as he set the brownies on the small round table and pulled out a chair for her. "Or a fan of the Vikings," he added. "I guess football didn't appeal to you so much. That's okay; getting banged around every weekend lost its attraction to me too. Something to drink? I have milk, water, and Coke if you like, or maybe you'd prefer something a bit harder?" He knew there were plenty of Baptists in town, and didn't want to offend her right off the bat if she was down on alcohol.

"Just call me Ashley, no need to be formal. I've only been in this house twice when, oh shoot, what were names? Oh right; Lowery.. When the Lowery family lived here, now. They were an older couple, though, reminded me of my folks," Ashley said. She thought about it for a moment, having no memory of the last time she had a drink. Well, she remembered, but had made herself forget, as she sat down she smiled. " A beer or whatever you have with alcohol in it. Yeah, he did; so did my dad. Toby called me the day you retired, he was in tears. But enough about my brother; well, I bet you're wondering why I don't have a wedding ring on," she said as she bit her lip and tucked a strand of blond hair behind her ear. Ashley had been raised in the church but she wasn't a baptist. She'd never set foot in a baptist church because, well, she just didn't believe the same stuff they did.

Garrett smiled as he reached into the fridge for a couple of cold Old Milwaukee's. That was about all they drank when he was playing in Minnesota, and he'd gotten used to it. Not the cold, though. He'd sworn all through his playing days that when he retired from the game, he was moving to a warm climate back down South. Even if that meant putting up with some attitudes...

He wasn't getting any of that from Ashley, however. He grabbed an opener and popped the caps of two bottles, taking down a couple of glasses and pouring them in, careful to avoid too much of a head. He set her glass before her and took his seat opposite her at the small, round breakfast table. "Well, I figured either you'd never been married, or didn't like it when you were," he said lightly to her question about the ring. "Unless there's a more exotic explanation that didn't occur to me, and I figured you'd tell me if it suited you." he finished with a smile. He raised his glass toward her to clink to hers in a light toast. "To new neighbors and good friends," he said, taking a good sip of the brew.

"So," he began, setting his drink down, "how does my neighbor get through the day without a husband around? Are you working?" This being a Saturday, that was still a possibility during the week. Or she could be living off alimony, you never know. "I'm going to be mostly a homebody. I'm setting up an office upstairs to do what I need doing, and," he waved expansively, "I've got a new house to set up to suit me. I'm considering putting a small pool in the back yard; it's big enough, and I love a good swim to cool off in the afternoon."

'' Well I'll be honest with you.. I was married, caught my husband cheating on me so we got a divorce. I got the house, the car he basically got nothing. Plus I've got my family's money I can live off of.'' Ashley said as she bit her lip a little then took a sip of her beer she loved the taste of beer, she didn't really want him to know what people thought of her. '' He Cheated on me with a co-worker, tried to say he was sorry we tried to rekindle but it never worked out. So here I am now as free as a bird, it can get lonely at times but I figure when the right man comes along I'll know.'' She said as she placed a strand of hair behind her ear, took another sip of her beer she missed being able to talk to somebody like she was talking to Garrett. The blond had never cared what other people thought of her, if they talked about her behind her back she just shrugged it off because she hated gossip especially when it was about her.

He listened quietly while she talked about her ex-husband. Much as she tried to shrug it off, he sensed it was still a tender sore for her. He shook his head. "Well, I just met you, but I can't figure any man stupid enough to let a nice lookin' lady like you get away from him, much less playing around on her." He took another sip. "'Course, I've never taken the plunge myself, so maybe I shouldn't say. I had a girl while I was playing, but I guess I couldn't see that she was really an athlete junkie - she dropped me as soon as I told her I was retiring from the game. She liked to follow me around to all the games, home and away, so I never was part of the crowd that treated away games like a free pass to mess around on their women. Not that I think I would have, but who can say when they were never really tempted."

He shrugged and grinned. "Hey, not exactly the direction I wanted my first meeting with the neighborhood to go. Tell me about the folks around here. Who should I watch out for?" He smiled to indicate he was kidding - or at least half kidding.

'' Thank you Garrett I appreciate the compliment, to answer your question you should watch out for quite a few people around here. Especially the ones walking around acting like they own the place, to be honest your the 1st african american we've had around here. So people are bound to find it entertaining especially the children, if I offended you with that comment I'm sorry.'' Ashley said she'd never actually used the word african american or any racial word for that matter because to her it didn't make a differences, what she told him was true. The women that walked down the street with their bibles in their hands as if they had just come from a church meeting or bible study were the worst ones, she'd had her share of religious lectures. She was still young not to young though she was around 25 or so but when she'd gotten married she'd been nineteen so when people learned her age seeing as her husband was from there a lot of heads turned, that's when it all started.

Garrett smiled and shook his head. "I've already met a youngster from next door. My color was the first thing he mentioned, then he wanted to know if he could play with my kids, if I had any. It was a lot like that where I grew up, about 150 miles from here. The kids played together, until their grownups taught 'em they couldn't like people with a darker tan. And to tell you the truth, I haven't gotten my tongue wrapped around this 'African-American' thing yet. In my town growing up, the polite one's called you black or colored; the ones who didn't care called us darkies, and the mean ones used 'nigras' or worse. When I started showing talent on the field, they'd all cheer, no matter what my skin tone."

He chuckled at her description of the Baptists. "My mama took me to our black baptist church every Sunday, so I reckon I can trade Bible verses with the best of them. Although I eventually learned that our services tended to be a lot more exciting than the white baptists tended to be. We'd sing and shout and clap and dance to the Lord; I was fourteen when I learned that dancing was supposed to be a sin, and we'd done it during the service every week! These days, my outlook is more of a..." he shrugged, "I guess 'live and let live' attitude. I know I'm lucky, and I give my thanks for that."

He took anther sip, then found he had to ask something that might put an end to the meeting. "I don't mean to pry, but I have to ask this: Are you happy? I mean, you've spoken about your marriage break-up and apparently you don't get along with some of the neighbors. You must have good friends, too. What do you do for fun around here?" He paused and extended a hand to touch her lower arm. "If I'm pushing too deep, I apologize, and feel free to ignore me."

'' I meant to say colored I'm sorry, yes some of the children around here are very curious. Especially the boy you met earlier, his name is Toby Carter his mother runs the dinner a few miles outside of town. He lives with his grandmother though cause his mother didn't want to raise him alone, he has no father. Sorry I'm gossiping myself.'' Ashley said as she finished her beer, shook her head she hated when she talked about people especially when she actually got along with some of them. When he asked her if she was happy she stared at the empty glass in front of her, didn't really smile or frown. '' I guess I'm happy, the only good friends I have don't live around here they live closer to my parents. Last time I saw any of them was at my wedding, most of the people here in town frowned upon it cause I was so young by their standards anyways.'' Ashley said shrugging her shoulders as she pushed her glass aside, tried to stay focused but she just found him so attractive that her thoughts raced as her heart pounded against her chest.

Garrett's hand was still on her arm, and now he patted her lightly. "Well, you deserve to have some good friends, and you've got at least one now. You feel free to come by and chat anytime it suits you. I'll be home pretty much all the time, unless I'm on a tour. Guess I didn't mention that: out of football, I've gotten into writing. Working on my third novel at the moment, and I'll be off to promote my second one in a couple of months. So," he smiled, "I work here, live here... I'll be here." He took his last sip and rose, taking both glasses to the sink. "Anything else I can get you?" he asked casually as he was up. "I think I'm going to enjoy this 'being neighborly' thing. Even little Toby Carter was friendly enough, as long as his grandparents let him, I suppose."

He was behind her. "I was stacking some books upstairs when you knocked. If you'd like to come up and continue visiting while I get a bit more done, you'd be most welcome company." Part of him suspected he was treading into potentially dangerous waters here, but he did enjoy her presence and was in no hurry to see her gone.

'' I'd love to stay a little longer.'' Ashley said as she smiled, stood up. She smoothed out her skirt, placed a strand of hair behind her ear then took his hand into to her own letting him lead the way upstairs. " I dabble in writing myself.. I started writing poems when I was thirteen years old, none of them been published or anything but maybe sometime you can read a few of them.'' She said as she caressed his hand with her thumb, she loved how her hands barely fit into his plus they were so warm to the touch. The twenty something blond hadn't held a man's hand in so long, being alone with one was another thing that hadn't happened in awhile either. The idea of him leaving to go on touring for his books tugged at her heart because she wouldn't have anybody to talk to her be around, inside she was pouting. For miss Ashley Cartwright meeting Garrett Loomis was fate, it was also love at 1st site because she was falling head over heals for a man she barely knew.

"Sure, I'd love to read your poetry," he said sincerely. Good or bad, it was an effort, and he was sure it came from her heart. He motioned to the back stairs that would lead most directly to his work room, but he was surprised when she slipped her hand into his to let him lead the way. It made him silent, thinking about that small hand within his larger paw, holding him with trust and something... a bit more. He fought the urge to blush and gave her hand a little squeeze, taking her up the stairs, turning right down the corridor, and right into his work room.

They stood in the doorway looking into the small workroom, looking smaller for the piles of books and papers scattered about messily. He pointed with their joined hands to the desk with the standard manual typewriter. "I've written two books so far on that typewriter," he said proudly. "It was my mom's. She typed out the church bulletin every week with carbons to send to the members for an extra nickel a sheet. That was the money that got me school supplies, and sometimes shoes. I'd hear that thing clacking in the living room deep into the night, until I'd finally fall asleep to it. When I got my first pro contract, I bought her a house, free and clear, so she could live in comfort. She only lasted three more years, though."

He sighed at the memory, than tentatively released Ashley's hand and stepped over to boxes and stacks of books. Picking up a few at a time, he started putting them on shelves against the wall. "I like all the windows in here. It looks out on the backyard. Once I get the pool in, I plan to have gardens along the fences on either side. I was never much for horticulture, so I've got a lot to learn." He gestured to a comfortable looking office chair at the desk. "Have a seat, won't you? And don't let me do all the talking. Do you swim? You'll be welcome to come take a dip whenever you like."

'' Yes I do, as a matter of fact I was on the swim team when I was in school. I could have made a name for myself as a swimmer but I was in a car accident when I was seventeen, broke my shoulder. If you press down on it hard enough you can feel a screw just under the skin, my mama took pictures. She loved to take pictures of us kids, she would take wedding pictures etc. It's what helped my pa keep the ranch cause when he inherited it from my granddaddy there were a lot of back taxes, unpaid bills. So I guess after my accident I never tried to see if I could swim, when you get your pool put in I'll have to see if I still have the speed.'' Ashley said as she smiled, laid her hands neatly in her lap she'd been raised like a proper lady some would consider her a southern bell because even though she wasn't from the town she lived in now she was still from the south just a few miles south.

"Well, you don't have to swim for speed. I just like to take some laps to loosen up and cool off. I've been writing to this company out in Arizona... In our locker room they had this most amazing bathtub that shot hot jets of water out of the sides against your muscles. It relaxed you like nothing I've ever felt before. I'm trying to see if they can build that off of a corner of my pool. It might help your shoulder, like a good massage."

He was taking handfuls of books from the boxes and stacks and placing them on shelves as they talked. There were a variety of strange titles, books about gunshot wounds, poisons, autopsy methods, fingerprints, business mergers, legal procedure, all kinds of things. He caught her eyeing some of the titles. "I'm not a serial killer, don't worry," he smiled. "The books I write are mysteries, so I have to bone up on certain subjects." He reached to a shelf and pulled out a title, "Dead Ball." "This was my first one. It takes place on a sports team, involving a team member found in the locker room. My hero is another member of the team, and there's blackmail and team politics, mangement shenanigans, and such involved. A little racial politics, too, but it's fun, if you like murder mysteries. Got some nice reviews, and the publishers pushed me for more. The next one comes out soon, and I'm working on a third." He offered the book to her. "If you're interested, let me know what you think."

He finished one box and stood up to stretch. He slipped around behind her chair and his hands went to her shoulders. "I learned a bit about massage in my career, too. Your shoulder bothering you?" His fingers dug into her shoulders and neck skillfully, easing her muscles and making her head loll.

'' I like a good book, are you sure you want me as a critic? '' Ashley asked laughing as she took the book from him, when he started massaging her shoulder every train of thought she had in that moment was gone. Her shoulder wasn't really bothering her it had been eight years but there were times when it would hurt a little mostly because of the screw that had been put in to keep all the bones together, just his hands on her shoulder made her feel really good. She hadn't dated or been with anyone since her divorce, she'd gotten married in 1961 but got divorced in either 1962 or 1963 she couldn't remember but it didn't matter. '' So I'm sure you would like to know more about me. Like where I come from, stuff like that.'' Ashley said as she laughed a little but the massage felt really good, she had to admit he had more skill then any doctor she'd ever been to.

"In time," he said lightly, his hands concentrating on making her feel relaxed and happy. "In due time, I hope to learn all about you, and let you find out all you want about me." It felt to have his hands on a woman again. His breakup eight months had been a shock, and he'd thrown himself into setting up his life post-football. "But I suppose what I most want to know is why a sweet, lovely lady like you hasn't found another man since your divorce. I know he must have hurt you, but you're too fine a catch not to attract someone new." There was also the enjoyment of the fact that, as he stood behind her and leaned over her from above, he could catch a glimpse of her cleavage looking down the open collar of her blouse.

'' Well I guess you could say Once bitten twice shy.. I was bitten once, I guess I was just afraid of the same thing happening all over again. '' Ashley said as she bit her lip the massage felt really good, she was really relaxing. Something about him made her start to think that maybe she had waited long enough, maybe he was the one for her but he hadn't been single very long so she was fine with just being friends until he made the 1st move. She was bold but she wasn't that bold, she didn't want to scare him off on their first meeting she just had a really good feeling that Garrett was the man she'd been waiting for despite the color of his skin.

"Well... it might." His hands continued to knead her shoulders and upper arms. "But it's like picking at a scab, Ashley. It's something you just keep doing, even when you know you shouldn't. We humans are what they call social animals, you know? That means we just got to be with one another. We aren't meant to be alone, even if the scab is still a little tender. It's gonna itch, and we're gonna try it again. 'Cause the alternative just isn't natural for us." He leaned down, his hands at her arms and room at her shoulder for him to be next to her ear. "Not natural for you, either, Miss Lone Wolf. Nor me, I reckon." His breath was warm at the side of her head, and he realized he relished the closeness. And he found himself thinking that if she turned her head toward him, he'd be temptingly close to her lips...

Ashley turned her head toward him as she smiled she liked being called a lone wolf it was better then the other things she had been called, she agreed with everything he said she didn't deny any of it because she believed it was all true. She looked into his eyes his beautiful eyes, found herself lost in them with her lips only a inch away from his she was concerned she might not be able to contain herself. It was in her nature to go for a man that sweet talked her or flirted with her but she didn't want to come off as desperate or deprived, she longed for companionship again no matter what the risk she was going to take her chances. '' I do declare that your right, I'm willing to take a chance on fate if you are.'' She said as she smiled, waited for him to kiss her because as soon as he did she would be all over him like a dog was all over a bone.

For a moment, Garrett hesitated, wondering what the hell he was doing. The first day in a new neighborhood, and he's already making moves on a neighbor, and a white one at that? Am I just inviting a cry of rape and a necktie visit from the Klan? But evidence before him and his own desires was far overriding his hypothetical worries. This woman had developed feelings for him, and he for her. She was inviting his move, and he would not deny either of them.

And so his head moved that last couple of inches, reaching her lips with a brushing contact, pausing for a moment for a protest that never appeared, and then pressed again, this time an obvious kiss, gentle but lingering. When he moved back a couple of inches, his eyes studied hers. "I think we're lucky to have found each other, Ashley," he said softly. One of his hands slipped from her shoulder to behind her head, cradling and supporting her as he moved to her lips again, this time the kiss deeper.

Ashley kissed him back as smile formed on her face she was very happy that she had found him, she had a feeling it would make people angry with her but she didn't really care. She stood up, wrapped her arms around his neck as she continued to kiss him there was just something about him that made it feel right to her. It wasn't like she had any reason to go home so she would stay as long as he wanted her to, she just let the kiss linger as she closed her eyes it had been a really long time since she had been kissed well not that long but it sure as heck felt like it. The blond could feel her heart skipping a beat the longer she kissed him, she finally pulled back long enough to take a breath as she looked into his eyes her smile still lingering. '' Is it hot in here or is it just me? '' She asked as she started to unbutton her blouse she felt really hot all of a sudden, wondered if it was just her or if he felt the same way because right now she was sweating like a horse.

There could be no doubt now that the attraction was mutual, as was the exploding need. Her kiss matched him and upped the ante on intensity. Together they rose from the chair, moving to fully face one another, so that when her arms wrapped around his neck, his were going around her back and pulling her to him. When she pulled back to take a breath and ask about the heat, he smiled saucily back to her. "Yes, something is hot in here, and it's definitely you," he nodded, letting her see his eyes slide down her body. Her hands slipped off his neck and he had a moment's worry he'd pushed too far, but her fingers started playing with the buttons of her blouse, slowly unbuttoning. His eyes drank in her form as the blouse parted teasingly. Her fingers were more than suggestive, and he wondered how far she was prepared to go.

"But it does seem pretty warm," he agreed, taking a step back and reaching to the shirt tail of his jersey. The sportswear was comfortable enough to slip easily up and over his head, leaving him bare-chested before her. There was a trace of wiry hair on his muscular torso, his stomach lean and flat with pronounced ab muscles. "Do you think that will make it any cooler?" he grinned to her. "I have my doubts..." His own hands now reached to her blouse, looking in her eyes for any refusal, and ready to resume undoing her buttons as far as they went...

(I could use a full description of what she is wearing, outer and underwear. Remember, he was in running shorts and football jersey to start with, and a pair of jockey underwear, with socks and tennis shoes.)

Ashley's outfit consisted of a jean skirt a red bra, matching panties, her blouse was white but it wasn't see through. She watched his every move as she slid off her sandals, stood before him in her bare feet as she placed her hands on his chest. '' I'm not really sure but I feel a little cooler already how about you? '' She asked as she chewed on her lower lip, looked up into his eyes she noticed the lonely chest hair but she thought it was very cute. Ashley had no regrets, she had no reason to refuse him she had been alone for way to long it was time to finally let a man back into her life. Her life was finally looking better, she looked forward to a life with someone that would love her, never cheat on her.

He smiled as he felt her hands on his chest, her fingers teasing the hairs while her palms glided over the pronounced muscles. His own fingers continued to unbutton down her white blouse, the flaps separating as he progressed to reveal hints of her deep red bra, her compressed flesh looking as they yearned to break free. "Actually," he smiled down to her, "I think things are just starting to heat up." Reaching the last button, he tugged the tails free of her waistband, baring her lean belly to his eyes. His hands went to her waist, lightly rubbing up and down before sliding around her to the small of her back, boldly pressing her body against his.

Her body did feel warm against him, but his attention was only on her lips, as he leaned down to repeat their earlier kiss, only this time more deeply. He held their clinch for a long time, his nostrils flaring with desire as the kiss lasted and deepened and grew more aggressive. When they finally parted, his hands had drifted down to mold to the cheeks of her ass within her denim skirt. "You taste good," he grinned softly to her, "like a mint julep." His thumbs played with the waistline of her skirt.

((ooc: Sorry it's short, that I took so long to reply. life kind of got in the way for a little while lol.))

Ashley smiled as all this happened her heart jumped, it hadn't jumped like this in a really long time. As he complimented her, told her she tasted good her smile only widened but no one had ever told her she tasted like an alcoholic beverage before but she wasn't complaining. She chewed on her lip as she felt his hands mold the cheeks of her ass as she watched him play with the waistline of her skirt, she was a little nervous because it would be her 1st time since her divorce. Of course she wasn't a virgin but she hadn't been with anyone else, to finally find someone that she could tell would love her no matter what it was exciting she was already showing signs of wanting him.
