Casi wandered through the forest, her hand pressed to her lips in a nervous gesture. Her ears, dark and furry, were bent back against her head, another sign she was scared. Her tail, the same color of her ears swung back and forth. She froze suddenly, thinking she heard something, her ears swiveling in the direction of the noise. “H-hello?” she asked timidly. She was lost, her friends, well she thought they were friends, leading her to ‘an awesome hollow tree’ apparently a great make-out spot. She was the new girl at school, and many of the other kids had excluded her because she was a neko. Today though a group of giggling girls dragged her into the forest, and had left her here. She mewled soft, like a kitten calling for its mother, scared and alone.

James Adams had been out enjoying a walk in the local forest when he heard the sound of someone calling out, then a small mewl. He felt a strike of pity in his soul before he moved out into the clearing, looking around. "Hello?" His reply was a responcive mewling sound and he moved closer, sensing the girl was scared. She appeared to be a kitten-girl, a neko as the kids liked to call them. He felt another small pang of pity and moved closer to the girl, sensing she was trembling even as he reached out to touch her shoulder. "Are you lost?" His words were soft.

She heard a sound, similar to the one she had made. her dark eyes were wide as she saw a man appear from between the trees, coming closer to her. She was scared, and she knew she shouldn't interact with strangers, especially a man in the woods, but she couldn't make her feet move. Her ears twitched as he asked her a question, and felt his hand on her shoulder. He didn't seem threatening, maybe he could even help her. "Yes." came her soft an timid reply. Her school uniform would give away that she was a student of the nearby boarding school. She had wandered a long ways from there in her attempt to get back, going in the completely wrong direction of course.

"You poor girl." James murmured softly, allowing his hand to skim slowly down over her shoulder to her hand. "Are you alright?" He could see she was trembling, from cold or fear. He moved instinctively to shrug free his jacket, wrapping it snugly around the girl's shoulders. "How's that?" His words had always remained soft and it was clear he was a little worried about the girl.

Her tail flicked a bit. When she was scared it would hang low and still, as it was a moment ago, but this man was reassuring. His jacket was very warm around her shoulders, and her keen nose could smell his scent on it. It smelled like the woods, meaning he had been through them before. "Thank you," she said, bowing her head before looking back up at him. "I am ok. Can you help me find my way back to school?" her voice was still soft as well, though it was because she was shy.

"Of course I can." James hesitated however before adding. "Although I think we should get you cleaned up a little before I do... from the look of it you've been here a while." He hesitated again before adding. "What's your name?" The question was one he only just realised he hadn't asked, his voice still soft and sweet. "I'm James." He introduced himself calmly, finding he wanted to make her smile.

She looked herself over, and noticed that she did appear a little unkempt. Her teachers might as questions, and she didn't want to tell them what really happened. She didn't need everyone calling her a snitch. "I guess so..." she said, not quite sure how long she had been lost. She looked back up at him when he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you James, I am Casi." she said, smiling and bowing her head again.

"Casi... that's a lovely name." James commented, sweetly trying to keep her at ease, not wanting her to worry any more, she didn't need to and he liked that he could help her stay calm. He had always had a good sense of himself and he was a little too good at reading body language at times, when he was in a good mood at least. "So, why don't I take you back home with me so we can clean you up?" He suggested softly. "See to it that I don't get you into any trouble?" It was clear he knew she'd be worried about it and wanted to ease her worry.

"Ok" she said, her tail flicking around a bit more. He seemed like a very nice man, even though he was just a stranger. Her eyes glanced up, noting where the sun was in the sky. "We should hurry though, I am supposed to be back before dark." she wondered if she could try and somehow talk her way out of being late. Any situation she could mention that did not involve the other girls would get her in trouble. She sighed, wondering how long it would be until everyone treated her like any other girl.

"Perhaps I should call the school?" He suggested mildly. The movement of her tail was clear to him even as he tried to control his staring, deciding instantly to admit to liking it if she questioned him on it, even if he hoped she wouldn't. "Just in case." He spoke warmly and offered the girl a soft smile. "Wouldn't want you to get into trouble." He spoke kindly as much as possible, his mind telling him to protect the girl from anything that might have happened.

She didn't notice is staring. Mostly because she wasn't paying attention, and because her tail had a mind of its own, so she wasn't aware of its movements. "That would be good. I'm not sure what you could tell them though. They would chastise me for getting lost in here." Her teachers already called her foolish. She was always fining herself in bad situations, like the time she had needed some paper towels on a top shelf for spilling her drink, and she had slipped and knocked over half the supply closet. She cringed slightly, remembering the fall. "Maybe that's not such a good idea. I just don't want to get into trouble again."

"Well, how about I blmae it on myself?" He asked softly. "Say I asked you to help me out for a while longer?" He seemed sure of himself and even when she tried to excuse herself he spoke gently, squeezing her hand softly. "Casi, you need to take care of yourself and clearly someone needs to keep you out of trouble with the school." He spoke fairly, his voice rough but tenderly so. "I'm not going to let them tell you off for getting lost, plenty of people do out here."

She wanted to tell him that it wasn't his fault, that she was normally so good about finding her way. She was sure those girls had finally included her, she didn't even think to remember which way they were going, or try to remember their scents to track them back through the forest. Or maybe it was her fault for trusting them. She stared at him now, wondering if she should trust him. "Ok. You can call them then." she smiled softly up at him. He had shown her nothing but kindness, he should be trustworthy.

He smiled mildly. "Good girl." The comment was soft as he lead her finally out of the woods, still a good way from his home all the same. He knew he needed to get her home and cleaned up, she seemed to be smiling and he found he couldn't stop himself smiling at her again. "Once we get you in the shower maybe." He spoke warmly and kindly, knowing he needed to keep his tone careful. "Then we'll be alright."

She followed him, glad to be moving. Sitting and talking wasn't going to get them anywhere. She was going to keep track of where they were going, but considering that she didn't know where they were coming from it would just be best to trust him, and follow his lead. She tugged the jacket closer around her body. "How far away is your house?" she asked, wondering how much longer she would have to be walking.

"Only a few more minutes." He sounded sure of himself and spoke warmly. He knew it was getting colder and wanted to be sure she wouldn't get any colder than she needed to. His attention was on the path as they made their way further out of the woods, pausing only for a moment to seek the branch he'd snapped on his way in, following the row of snapped branches and markings easily. He smiled slightly as he did so, glad to have had a way out marked for him, feeling smarter than usual. As they emerged out of the woods he smiled back at her. "How are you feeling?"

"Legs are tired." she said, smiling a little sheepishly. She had been wandering around for a while, or what seemed like a while, without stopping. She was too scared of being alone in the woods to notice the fatigue, but it was hitting her now. She could walk just fine, she would rather be in a nice warm house. What kitten wouldn't? She was excited to know that he house was close now. She could see the same signs he did of previous passage.

He smiled gently. "Would you rather I carried you?" The question was soft, his attention to her fatigue clear as he shifted closer, wrapping a supportive arm around her, clearly worried she was tired and feeling protective. As they came to the road he smiled and paused, stroking her hair absently. "Have you been at the school long?" His question was politely asked, inquisitive but not pushing.

"Oh, no, its not that bad, I wouldn't want you to do that for me." she blushed a little, realizing she was sounding silly. She just didn't want him to have to carry her only because she was a little tired. She felt his arm around her, keeping her close and warm. She liked it, but it only made her blush deepen a little to be so close to a man. She had to restrain herself when he stroked her hair. Like cats, she had the ability to purr and she knew some humans found that strange. She was glad he had asked her his question to distract herself. "Only a month. I'm still the new girl."

"A month... well that explains the lost in the woods look." He murmured. "Didn't you come out here with friends?" The question was quietly inquisitive as he lead her the last few steps to his house, ignoring the looks as he lead her up the garden path, unlocking the door before drawing her inside, locking the door before moving to turn the heating up a little more. He paused to watch her for a moment, distracted by her sweetness.

"Uh..." she held her hand to her mouth, that nervous gesture she had made when she first saw him. She wasn't sure if she should tell him. Now in his house she glanced around. It had been a while since she had been in such a setting. At the school it was hallways, classrooms, and small dorms. The coziness of a house was a nice change. Her eyes rested on him again, her ears flattening back a little. "There were some girls that took me into the woods. They said that they were going to show me the make-out spot. But they had left me there, and I couldn't find the way back...It was the first time they had spoken to me, I thought they were being nice." she said, admitting how she got lost. "But you can't tell the school. Everyone will find out I told, and then no one will like me."

"It's alright." He had spoken softly as her hand raised to her mouth, her timid words making his heart ache. He knew what it was like to be the one people laughed at. He had been in a school where being tall was pretty much a crime and he'd hated it. Now of course he was blessed with a nice house and a charming life, his work keeping him busy. Her ears had flattened back, showing she was either upset or uncomfortable as she spoke. "It's alright." He repeated the words quietly, stroking her hair and trying to calm her a little more, his moves natural. He liked nekos, always had since he met his closest friend Jaymie Anette Woods. Now he found himself caring greatly for this girl, wanting to see her smile and not worried like she was now. "I'll just say I asked you for help and that it's run over." He paused then added. "Maybe get you a nightpass." He knew about the nightpass thanks to Jaymie, who was a school owner herself on the other side of the town.

"Do you think you could do that?" she asked. They usually only granted night passes to upperclassmen. She smiled again as he stroked her hair, her eyes slowly closing. Before she was even aware of it she started purring. The sound was very soft and gentle. Her tail sung lightly behind her, enjoying his hand through her hair.

He had smiled at her soft purr, liking the sound of it. "I'm sure I can." His words came warmly as she continued to purr at his continued petting, his voice gentle. "Do you want to go and take a shower before I call them? Might be a little less rough on you that way..." He spoke kindly, clearly not wanting the girl to be upset.

She didn't say anything for a while, just enjoying him petting her. Her purring continued until she finally realized that he was talking to her. "Oh, huh? I mean, yeah, that sounds good." she said, blushing again for sounding so silly. She could be easily distracted when being petted like that.
