In the country of Furyondy, in the city of Chend, there is a hustle an bustle as a celebration goes on. The King Belvor the Fourth has received an heir, Belvor the Fifth. Amidst this hustle and bustle, no one minds the closeness of the Empire of Iuz, which has renewed itself in the last few years. Nor do they remember that civil war looms on the horizon. At the moment, the only thoughts are about the celebration, and why.

In a certain Gold Griffin Bar, drinks flow easily and patrons dance with joy. The only exception is a man in dark green robes, with blond hair and brown eyes, wearing a red headband. He calmly sits in a corner, drinking something. The man seems to be waiting, for someone or something.

Walking down the street, Rachel Quinlyn smiled as she viewed the celebration and joy around her. She slunk down the street with her hips swaying slightly in time to the music. A dark blue cloak covered her tightly fitting leather armor, and mostly concealed the longsword hanging at her hip. She walked up to the door of the Gold Griffin Bar and paused a moment. The sounds of revelry inside were like music to her ears. She eased the door open and slipped inside. Tossing her golden hair over her shoulder her sapphire blue eyes surveyed the room looking for a place to ease in to the fun.

There were a couple of seats available at the bar, where the bartender wasn't busy except for the occasionally pouring of a new drink. There were several dancers on the open floor space, in various states of intoxication. A few of the less drunken dancers both male and female noticed her quiet entrance, with looks that said they wouldn't mind her joining. In places along the wall were tables where games of chance were being played, which were always open to new players. The tables with conversations seemed like old friends or full. The only person sitting alone was a man in dark green robes with a red headband, who stared at her intently before returning to his drink, but there seemed to be an edge of anticipation to him that wasn't there before.
